Abstract

The alawiyyin group or groups that claim to be descendants of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. have differences of opinion regarding the exclusivity of their status. Their status in the surrounding community has become a special privilege for their group. An organization that wants legitimacy for the alawiyyin group is trying to trace the descendants of the alawiyyin group to remote villages, starting in the 19th century. It makes the rabithah alawiyah organization or the unity of the alawiyyin group experience difficulties in legitimizing the alawiyyin groups in the area. This research analyzes the causes of exclusivity and legitimacy in the status legitimation process, especially between rabithah alawiyah and alawiyyin groups in rural areas. Ethnography is an appropriate method for analyzing and analyzing active observation data in this research. Some data and informants in in-depth interviews that had the nuance of friendly conversation because the researcher himself was an alawiyyin who could carry out in-depth analysis in this research. The results of this research found that most of the alawiyyin groups in rural areas did not want their status to be made public, was even an informant's grandfather who hid their written genealogy to avoid the arrogance that would occur to his children and grandchildren when they legitimized their status. As a finding from this research, rabithah alawiyah as an institution that legitimizes the status of alwiyyin groups nationally and internationally, digitalization of nasab needs to be digitalized, so that those in rural areas or alawiyyin groups in remote parts of Indonesia can register their nasab or clan at this institution Rabitha Alawiyah.

Abstract

The diversity of Indonesian culinary flavors has become a distinct identity for the region, this local culinary food can be easily found from Sabang to Merauke. This community service activity aims to empower and pass on the skills of managing local culinary arts, namely Steamed Banana Sago (Em Nime Ouw), to the Ayapo community, especially the younger generation. The problem faced is the declining interest of the younger generation in preserving traditional culinary due to the dominance of instant foods and the flow of modernization. The method used in this activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR), with live demonstrations by traditional leaders and elderly women who are still actively involved in making traditional culinary. This activity is carried out in a participatory manner, involving local youth in the entire production process, from selecting ingredients (red sago flour, ripe bananas, coconut water), mixing, wrapping with farofe leaves, to steaming in a traditional stove. The results of the activity show that the demonstrative approach successfully increases practical understanding and cultural awareness among the younger generation, while fostering pride in local culinary identity. In addition, strengthening cultural values through culinary media opens up new economic opportunities based on sustainable local gastronomic tourism.

Abstract

This article aims to describe and analyze the mechanism of traditional medicine practiced by the Biak people in Opuri Village, and the factors that determine why people still often use traditional medicine methods as an alternative to efforts to cure diseases suffered by them. The theoretical approach used is the perspective of medicine anthropology to examine the treatment of diseases that are naturalistic and personalistic in nature traditionally based on the ethnoscience of local communities. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with an ethnographic approach. Selection of informants was done by purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used were interviews and field observations as well as literature review. The research instrument used is a sound and image recorder to help facilitate the process of processing field data. The stages of data analysis include data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification. The results showed that the use of traditional medicine methods is still carried out by the Biak people in Opuri Village because it aims to treat personalistic diseases, so that not only physical treatment is needed, but also metaphysical. Although there are also those related to naturalistic diseases. Meanwhile, the factors behind the use of traditional medicine methods are social, economic, cultural, and comfort factors

Abstract

he use of digital media for cultural documentation is an increasingly relevant strategy in the digital era, particularly in the context of indigenous communities with vulnerable oral and non-material cultural heritage. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of the Sentani Traditional School community to document cultural heritage through digital media. Facing the challenges of low digital literacy and the risk of losing oral culture, this program was designed based on community participation and an anthropological approach. The service method consisted of outreach, technical training, and mentoring in the use of simple digital devices such as cameras and mobile phones to document local dances, music, and cultural narratives. The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in participants' understanding and skills in creating digital documentation based on local values. An internal cultural documentation team was also formed to support the program's sustainability. This initiative demonstrates that cultural preservation can be carried out adaptively through the synergy of technology, local wisdom, and cross-sector collaboration.

Abstract

This community service initiative was motivated by the low capacity of residents to identify, plan, and implement solutions to their social environmental problems, particularly in the context of improving the quality of education and community empowerment. The objective of this activity was to strengthen the community's ability to conduct needs analysis, formulate action programs, and build sustainable collaboration between residents, schools, and local stakeholders. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involves a reflection-action-evaluation cycle through focus group discussions, participant observation, local asset mapping, and collaborative workshops. The results of the community service demonstrated a significant increase in community engagement, the emergence of local initiatives based on real needs, and the formation of a more focused and sustainable joint action plan. Furthermore, the strengthened community capacity was evident in their ability to identify problems, develop solution strategies, and conduct independent evaluations of their activities. In conclusion, the PAR approach was effective in promoting community empowerment and independence. The main contribution of this service lies in its replicable collaborative model, strengthening social networks, and improving the quality of participatory program planning.
