Abstract

The increasing number of vehicles has led to several complex challenges, such as traffic congestion, air pollution, and safety driving issues. These challenges also result in economic losses. Fortunately, with the advance in technologies today, we can utilize Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to establish a system that is more efficient, safer, and environmentally friendly. Specifically, the concept of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) has emerged as a potential solution to address various road-related challenges. However, the real-world implementation of V2X still faces numerous obstacles, particularly in terms of cost and safety concerns. Deploying V2X on a large scale requires significant investments due to the need for communication infrastructure and hardware development. Therefore, simulation can serve as an initial solution to tackle these challenges. Simulations make it possible to set up different communication network protocols and architectures and to model different traffic conditions without the risks that come with testing in the real world. In this review paper, we aim to give a clearer insight into the trends, challenges, and opportunities of V2X simulations in various traffic environments.

Abstract

Energy efficiency in universities is a crucial component of national and regional strategies to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. This is supported by regulations such as Presidential Regulation No. 33/2023 and the Bali Governor's Circular Letter, as well as the Bali Clean Energy Program, which promotes the use of energy-saving devices and renewable energy in the education sector. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach, conducting a comprehensive inventory and direct observation of 609 computing devices at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Jimbaran. Data analysis includes statistical descriptive methods and interviews to evaluate compliance with the Energy Star standard and alignment with existing energy policies. The inventory revealed that 74% (448 units) of the computing devices (desktops, laptops, printers, scanners) were Energy Star certified. However, a significant implementation gap was identified, as all network devices (routers and access points) and projectors (totaling 161 units) lacked energy efficiency certifications. The estimated annual energy consumption cost for these devices ranges from approximately Rp 106 million (under a 4-hour usage scenario) to Rp 218 million (under an 8–10 hour usage scenario). While adherence to energy efficiency standards is high for core computing equipment, there is a notable gap in policy implementation for peripheral devices like projectors and network infrastructure. The study recommends the proactive procurement of energy-efficient devices across all categories and the implementation of periodic energy audits to enhance sustainability efforts and achieve significant cost savings within the university.

Abstract

This paper presents a model of a batteryless off-grid photovoltaic (PV) system with an adaptive multi-motor load. This model is developed as an effort to enhance the power output of batteryless off-grid PV systems for motor loads. Instead of using a single large-capacity motor, as commonly done in previous studies, the model distributes the load into several smaller motors and controls them adaptively. This approach allows for better control of the total load impedance to support maximum power point (MPP) tracking. A case study involving three three-phase induction motors, each with an operating power of 200 W, is conducted, where the power production of the proposed model is analysed by comparing it with the theoretical MPP and a fixed-load motor system that represents a single large motor. Under 1000 W/m² irradiance and using an 852 Wp PV array, the proposed model achieves a power output of 842 W, which corresponds to 98.83% of the MPP. In contrast, the system without this model only generates 298 W, or just 35.02% of the MPP. The testing process spans a 5-second period during the motor starting state. The power production analysis of the proposed model is presented in graphical form using MATLAB/Simulink.

Abstract

This study examines the performance comparison between floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems and Ground Mounted solar power plants using an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system centered on the ESP32 microcontroller. The analyzed performance parameters include thermal and electrical factors: solar irradiance intensity, panel temperature, voltage, current, and output power. Data collection was conducted at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, during June–July 2025, with observations taken between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Central Indonesia Time at 30-minute intervals. Measurements reveal that the panel temperature of the floating PV system consistently remains 1–4°C lower than that of the Ground Mounted system under equivalent irradiance conditions. This temperature difference influences power loss due to thermal effects, where the floating system experiences comparatively smaller power reductions than the Ground Mounted. After correcting for temperature factors, the floating PV output power was found to be higher at all observation times compared to the Ground mounted PV. These results demonstrate that the floating system exhibits superior thermal efficiency and electrical performance. The analysis confirms that implementing floating PV has significant potential to enhance energy conversion efficiency through natural cooling mechanisms, while also providing a strategic alternative for solar energy utilization in regions with adequate water resources.
