Abstract

The East Indian Ocean holds significant potential for lobster diversity, and Indonesia is home to 6 of the 19 Panulirus species found globally. West Sumatra, located within this region, has promising lobster resources. This study aimed to assess species composition, carapace length and weight distribution, growth patterns, and compliance with fishing regulations (PERMEN-KP No. 16/2022) in the waters of West Sumatra and Tello Island, North Sumatra. Analytical methods included species identification, composition analysis, frequency distribution, chi-square testing, one-way ANOVA, and regression analysis. Findings revealed that six lobster species were identified in West Sumatra, dominated by scalloped spiny lobster (P. homarus), while four species were found on Tello Island, with painted spiny lobster (P. versicolor) being most abundant. In West Sumatra, the dominant carapace length class was 8–9 cm (442 individuals), and the most common weight class was 220–360 g (529 individuals), both exhibiting a negative allometric growth pattern. Meanwhile, Tello Island lobsters showed a dominant carapace length of 12–13 cm (30 individuals) and weight range of 500–640 g (25 individuals), also with negative allometric growth. Overall, the lobster catch composition from both locations was found to comply with the sustainable capture guidelines outlined in PERMEN-KP No. 16/2022.

Abstract

Trammel net is a type of gill net. Usually, fishermen operate trammel nets to catch shrimp. Many fishermen build trammel nets traditionally without going through a standard design and construction process. They bought webbing on the market to assemble them into three layers of net and equipped with rope components and buoys, sinker, and selvedge. Meanwhile, to realize the effectiveness of fishing and managing fisheries activities, the government regulates the standard form of trammel net through SNI 01-7237-2006. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the suitability of the standard form of trammel net based on SNI rules. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method. The research locations are in three villages which are fishing bases for trammel net fishermen in Kotabaru Waters, namely: Pantai Village; Salino Village; and Sungai Pasir Village. The results from the three trammel net sample sizes: small; medium and large have scores of 89%; 95%; and 95% which are in the very suitable category.

Abstract

There is increasing awareness of the importance of sustainability in aquaculture, however, research that explicitly integrates accounting with environmental information in decision-making remains relatively unexplored. Sumenep Regency in East Java is one of the largest producers of vannamei shrimp with high economic value. This research was conducted at a vannamei shrimp farming company in the area. This company uses a semi-intensive system and has made efforts to care for the environment, but has not fully integrated environmental aspects into its financial support. It has the potential to hurt sustainability. Environmental management accounting is an accounting approach that integrates environmental information into the company's accounting system, to support better decision-making in terms of environmental and economic performance. This study aims to design a scenario for the sustainability of aquaculture vanname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) business through environmental management accounting in the company Sumenep Regency. The data are collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. It employs prospective analysis of SMIC-Prob based on probability with subjective probability. It is used to compute the probability of the event. This study uses probability sampling. The experts are top manager, middle managers in production and finance, local government, and researchers in fishery agribusiness. This study shows that the primary scenario recommendation for the sustainability of vanname shrimp farming is integrated environmental management in accounting. Meanwhile, the government needs to support them to apply it through socialization, regulation, and educating/training about it.

Abstract

General Linear Model (GLM) aims to find the relationship between several independent variables with one dependent variable. GLM was conducted to answer the research objectives (1) the contribution of fishing gear to the total catch of pelagic fish, (2) to determine the type of pelagic fish that was dominantly caught in the type of fishing gear based on the 2004 - 2016 East Java marine and fisheries statistical report. The results of the GLM WPP Republic of Indonesia analysis of 573, the dominant small pelagic fish were lemuru fish on payang fishing gear, selar fish in purse seine, layur fish on drifting gill nets, and bloating on fixed gill nets. While contributions based on small pelagic fishing gear are ring trawlers catching flying fish, selar fish, and anchovy. The gill nets keep catching fish, mullet, tembang fish, and mackerel. Payang catches lemuru and layur fish. Region WPP RI 712 as a result of analysis of small pelagic GLM fish: pompano fish catching equipment, anchovy with dogol fishing gear, layur fish with trawl fishing gear, gill drift fishing gear and fishing gear step, tembang fishing purse seine and tremmel net, mullet fish with fixed gill nets. Contributions based on small pelagic fishing gear are circular gill nets contributing to kite and anchovy, gill net fishing gear drifting on stingrays and layur fish, Tremmel net in Pompano fish. dogol fishing gear on mullet and mackerel, fishing gear step on tembang fish and lemuru fish. While large pelagic fish: clitic fishing gear contributes to mackerel and skipjack fish while dogol catches on tuna

Abstract

Prigi waters belongs to the Republic of Indonesia's fisheries management area (FMA 573), which includes the South Indian Ocean of the island of Java to Nusa Tenggara. The species of large pelagic fish occurring in Indonesian waters include tuna comprising: madidihang (Thnunnus albacares), bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus), albacore (Thunnus alalunga), bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii), long tailed tuna (Thunnus mackerel). The small species of tuna include Skipjack tuna (K. Pelamis), Euthynnus affinis and Auxis thazard caught by purse seine, gillnet, troll line and payang fishing gear. Research purposes were to estimate value of maximum sustainable yield (MSY), total allowable catch (TAC), maximum economic yield (MEY), and open access (OA), to suspect rate and status utilization of Skipjack tuna (K. pelamis). Data analysis in this research was convertion of fishing gear, surplus production model by Schaefer, Fox, and Gordon-Schaefer model. The results of the conversion analysis of fishing gears are determined using a standard fishing gear, which is troll line as fishing gear standard. Result showed that sustainable potential obtained catch and effort of Skipjack tuna (K. pelamis) in MSY condition around 810 ton/year and 2,020 trip/year, and in TAC condition 648 ton/year and 1,616 trip per year, while in bioeconmic analysis in MEY condition was 680 ton/year and 1211 trip/year so that a profit Rp. 4,136,008,186, and in OA condition around 778 ton/year and 2,423 trip/year where the profit obtained Rp. 0. Utilization rate of Skipjack tuna (K. pelamis) was 106% so that the status of the stocks categories was Over Exploited

Abstract

Pelagic fish resources have a very important role in regional economic development. The assumption that fish resources are common property so that everyone is free to catch (open access) is a problem with overfishing in East Java waters. The purpose of this study is to determine the superior commodity of small pelagic fish, the status of exploitation of superior  fish resources and to compile a scenario of sustainable management of superior resources. The method in this research is quantitative descriptive method with data analysis used including Location Quotient (LQ), Schaefer (1954), Fox (1970), Walter Hilborn, and programming STELLA (System Thinking, Experimental Learning Laboratory with Animation). The research result of the superior species in the province in the south of East Java) is sardin, while the superior fish in the regency is s Rainbow runner. The status of fisheries at the level of superior fisheries exploitation in South East Java, the level of exploitation of ssrdin fish is 240% with the status of Depleted. Finally, the level of exploitation for s Rainbow runner fish is 689%, which means that they are included in depleted. The scenario of sustainable management of pelagic fisheries for the next 10 years, namely 2018 - 2027 for lemuru fish, the highest biomass reserves will be obtained in 2027, using a fixed effort allocation which has biomass reserves of 179% and the potential value of sustainable reserves of 8,438.48 tonnes. The results showed that the superior commodities of small pelagic fish in North East Java were mackerel fish. The superior fish commodity in the Regency / City is obtained by Finny scad fish. The level of exploitation for mackerel is 127% with the status of Over Exploited, and the level of exploitation for Finny scad is 131% with the status of Over Exploited. The scenario for the management of the superior mackerel commodity, the highest biomass reserve in 2027 is the allowable fishing effort allocation (fJTB) of 129%.
