Abstract

Abstract. The environmental crisis is not a new topic. It is a phenomenon that we cannot ignore. Natural damage, forest fires, floods and others are caused by humans. Therefore, this study aims to find out the forms of natural damage and how the role of humans in providing defense in the short story entitled Ongkak: a collection of short stories by SPN. Fakrunnas MA Jabbar based on eco-critical theory, and tries to correlate research results with social phenomena that are currently happening. This research is a qualitative research, the data in this study were taken from short stories with environmental themes. The instrument in this study was the researcher as a human instrument assisted by notes. In analyzing the data, the researcher reads the short stories repeatedly and interprets it using ecocritical theory. This study found that some short stories use nature as mystical symbols, such as butterflies and trees, and some short stories show natural damage in the form of deforestation, flooding, infrastructure damage, fog, water pollution and tornadoes. The role of humans in overcoming natural damage occurs in the form of providing defense. The results of this research should be able to provide an impact in the form of insight and a sense of responsibility towards the importance of protecting nature. Keywords: Natural Damage, Ecocritic, Short Story

Abstract

This article is about a study explaining: (1) kinds of the children literature that could be use as the media for disaster’s mitigation; (2) Compatibility and the accuracy of the child's literature for its prospective reader based on the cognitive development stage of the children; and (3) formulated utilization planning of the children literature to the disaster mitigation in Indonesian and literature learning. The children literature studied are twelve Indonesian children literatures, that consisted of the genre of fiction, poetry, the comic, and the non-fiction book (information). Respectively the genre was represented by three works. The children literature was taken through the purposive technique sampling. The data was analyzing by content analysis. The validity of the data was tested through the semantics validity and the reliability was tested by reading the text repeatedly. The results of the studied showed that: (1) The genre of the children literature that was found in this research was poetry, fiction, the comic and information (non-fiction). The elements that had the potential to use as the planting media for the mitigation of disaster were the theme and the message, the conflict, the characterization, the illustration, as well as the sound. ; (2) Based on the use of the point of view, the writing technique (the language) and the explanation of the problem, the poetry, fiction, and non-fiction (information) exact to be given to children age 7-11 years, whereas the comic was more exact given to the age 11 years – the adolescent; and (3) the disaster mitigation efforts could be carried out by understanding the contents of the text, gave the response to the problem of the disaster and the control as well as its prevention, or wrote the phenomenon of the natural or social disaster.

Abstract

This study aims to describe women’s roles, problems, and ways to solve the problems reflected in Indonesian novels in the period of 1900–2000. The data sources were 20 top novels published in that period. The data were collected through reading and analyzed by relating them to several elements as their contexts and using the analytical construct in the feminist literary criticism. The results are as follows. First,women’s public roles include their participation in the movements, education, and business and their domestic roles are as wife and mother. Second, their domestic problems are related to psychological problems, nationality, gender construction, domestic violence, and financial dependence. Third, the problems result from differences in nationality, society’s patriarchal culture, religious interpretation, gender construction, politics, and financial dependence. Fourth, the characters’ attitudes to the problems are in the form of submission, opposition, and escapism.

Abstract

AbstrakKampus berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai jembatan untuk mencapai pendidikan tinggi, namun juga wahana untuk mengembangkan kompetensi individu, termasuk dalam bidang sastra. Sastrawan-sastrawan muda atau yang bertumbuh ketika menempuh pendidikan di perguruan tinggi atau kampus ini biasa disebut sastrawan kampus. Ppenelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasikan latar belakang sosial, ideologi, profesionalisme kepengarangan, dan posisi sosilal  sastrawan kampus FBS UNY khasanah sastra Indonesia. Penelitian  ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologis dengan fokus penelitian pada sastrawan kampus yang aktif menulis prosa (novel dan cerpen) di Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni UNY. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, sastrawan kampus Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta sebagian besar berasal dari suku Jawa. Sastrawan kampus lebih banyak didominasi lelaki.  Umumnya, sastrawan kampus memiliki latar belakang keluarga yang berkorelasi dengan dunia pendidikan. Kedua, sastrawan kampus umumnya lebih memilih memperhatikan hal-hal yang dianggap sering diabaikan dalam kehidupan untuk ditulis dalam karya mereka. Idealisme mengenai nilai-nilai otentik yang berbenturan dengan nilai pragmatisme masyarakat menjadi energi besar yang menggerakkan sastrawan-sastrawan kampus untuk menulis. Ketiga, sastrawan-sastrawan kampus umumnya tidak menjadikan menulis sebagai profesi utama mereka. Menulis adalah kerja sampingan. Sastrawan kampus tidak bergantung pada patronase tertentu.  Keempat, beberapa sastrawan kampus memiliki posisi yang cukup penting dalam sastra Indonesia. Posisi ini dipengaruhi oleh produktivitas karya, promosi dan publikasi, serta jejaring yang dimiliki. Semakin banyak karya yang dihasilkan dan dipublikasikan secara massif di berbagai media, maka penulis karya tersebut akan semakin dikenal oleh masyarakat.Kata kunci: profil, sastrawan kampus, sosiologi pengarang   Abstract               The aims of this study are: (1) to identify the social background of campus writers, (2) to explain the social ideology of campus writer, (3) to explain the professionalism of campus writer, and (4) to map the social position of FBS UNY campus writers in Indonesian literature. This research is a fenomenological qualitative research with a focus of research on campus writers who are active in writing prose (novels and short stories) in the Faculty of Language and Arts of UNY, using the author's sociology approach. The research subjects were selected purposively, namely Herlinatiens, Kedung Darma Romansha, Eko Triono, Muhammad Qadhafi, and Kun Anindito. Data collection techniques used in interviews, searches and studies of campus literary works, as well as news searches in various media. The validity used is expertjudgment, while the reliability of the data is triangulation between researchers and sources. The results of the study show: (1) most of the Yogyakarta State University campus writers are from Javanese. Campus writers are dominated by men. Generally, campus writers have a family background that correlates with the world of education, except Kedung Dharma. (2) Campus writers generally prefer to pay attention to things that are considered often ignored in life to be written in their work. Idealism about authentic values that collide with the pragmatism of the community becomes a great energy that motivates campus writers to write. (3) Campus writers generally do not make writing their main profession. Writing is a side job. Campus writers do not depend on certain patronage. (5) Some campus writers have quite important positions in Indonesian literature. This position is influenced by the productivity of works, promotions and publications, and the networks that are owned. The more massive work produced and published in various media, the writer of the work will be increasingly known by the public.Keywords: profile, campus writer, author’s sociology approach

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to describe identities, roles, and gender relations in children’s novels.The data sources were six children’s novels published by Dar! Mizan.The six novels werepurposively selected. The data were collected by repeatedly reading the novels, recorded,and classified based on the problem formulation categories. They were analyzed usingthe framework of feminist literary criticism, namely woman as a reader. The results ofthe study are as follows. First, gender equality has not been manifested because there isstill gender identity stereotyping. Characters with two identities, feminine and masculine,are described as weird characters. Second, there is inequality in the distribution of genderroles. Female characters have roles in public and domestic sectors and male charactersplay roles in the public sector only. Third, existing relations show varied but recognizablepatterns. The relations are manifested in different forms depending on contexts, sexes,ages, social classes, cultures, and descendant factors.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji novel Gadis Kretek sebagai pembelajaran kewirausahaan. Metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan strukturalisme naratologi AJ Greimas digunakan untuk mengkajinya dengan teori psikologi efikasi diri pada tokoh Idroes Moeria. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses efikasi diri yang positif karena Idroes Moeria mampu menghadapi  pengalaman yang sulit dan menantang dalam perjalanan usahanya. Ida juga pintar mempelajari pengalaman orang lain. Suasana hati  buruk tidak  menjadi halangan karena ia memiliki lingkungan keluarga yang mendukung usahanya. Berdasarkan pendekatan naratologi AJ Greimas terlihat bahwa tindakan Idroes Moeria sebagai subjek telah menerima kesuksesan dari bisnis kretek sebagai objeknya. Pada aktan sender yang merupakan keinginannya untuk berwirausaha dimudahkan dengan persuasi verbal dan suasana hati yang baik sebagai helper. Opposant yang merupakan penghalang dengan berbagai pengalaman yang menantang dapat diatasi oleh Idroes Moeria dengan mudah.  Proses efikasi diri  menumbuhkan karakter yang dapat menunjang keberhasilan berwirausaha, seperti percaya diri, berani mengambil risiko, berorientasi pada hasil dan masa depan, berani berinovasi. Cara Idroes Moeria menjalankan usaha juga dapat menjadi pelajaran seperti strategi branding produk dan pemasaran.This study aims to examine the novel Kretek Girls as learning of entrepreneurship. A descriptive qualitative research method using AJ Greimas's narratology structuralism approach was used to study the psychological self-efficacy theory of Idroes Moeria character. The results showed a positive self-efficacy process because Idroes Moeria was able to deal with difficult and challenging experiences in their business journey. Ida is also good at learning other people's experiences. A bad mood is not an obstacle, because he has a family environment that supports his business. Based on AJ Greimas's narratology approach, the actions of Idroes Moeria as a subject have received success from the kretek business as its object. The sender act which is his desire to become entrepreneurs is facilitated by verbal persuasion and a good mood as a helper. Opponents that are a barrier with a variety of challenging experiences can be overcome by the Idroes Moeria easily. The process of self-efficacy fosters character that can support entrepreneurial success, such as self-confidence, risk-taking, results-oriented, and future-oriented, bold innovation. How to run a business can also be lessons like product branding and marketing strategies.

Abstract

  The purpose of the study was to describe the dimensions of the text, the practice of discourse, socio-cultural practices, and the ideological formations in the short stories that face imagined on porridge plates. The theory used is the theory of sociology of Gramsci hegemony. The method used is a qualitative method with the Fairclough model of critical discourse analysis techniques. The results of the study are a form of hegemony when traditional markets turn into modern markets and make people have a consumptive lifestyle. The author expresses his criticism of the current phenomenon subtly with the symbol of genderuwo which has greed and hegemonic character. Genderuwo is represented as a capitalist system which is currently controlling society. The form of ideological formation in the form of authoritarianism-capitalism and humanistic-mysticism. There are groups of hegemony, pro-hegemony, and groups of counter-hegemony. The hegemony group is the main actor in the occurrence of hegemony (the dominant group), while the pro-hegemony group is a figure who supports the occurrence of hegemony, the counter-hegemony group consists of people who oppose the occurrence of hegemony (cultural rise).

Abstract

Modernisasi telah memberikan perubahan besar pada struktur kehidupan manusia, termasuk relasi laki-laki dan perempuan dalam kehidupan berkeluarga. Perubahan ini melahirkan konsep baru tentang maskulinitas, terutama yang ditemukan pada lagu dangdut koplo dari Jawa Timur. Maka, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjawab pertanyaan bagaimanakah bentuk relasi laki-laki dan perempuan dalam konstruksi maskulinitas Jawa pada lagu dangdut koplo? Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dan memanfaatkan konsep maskulinitas sebagaimana dikemukakan oleh Janet Saltzman Chafetz. Chafetz menggambarkan tujuh wilayah maskulinitas tradisional pada budaya barat: fisik, fungsional, seksual, emosional, intelektual, interpersonal, dan sifat pribadi lain. Penulis artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa lagu dangdut koplo Jawa menggambarkan relasi laki-laki dan perempuan dalam tiga dimensi maskulinitas: fungsional, emosional, dan intelektual. Dimensi fungsional memerankan laki-laki pada peran sebagai pencari nafkah; dan dimensi emosional sebagai memiliki ketenangan dan kematangan emosional yang tinggi; sedangkan dimensi intelektual menghadirkan sosok laki-laki dengan pemikiran yang logis, rasional, dan praktis.
