Abstract

The skills needed in the 21st century are basic literacy, competence, and character. Critical thinking skills are one of the competencies and attitudes of science which is part of the character. The research aims to enhance students' critical thinking skills and science attitudes using interactive teaching materials on Climate Change. This quasi-experimental research was conducted in one of the junior high schools in Bogor involving 42 students in the experimental class and 41 students in the control class. Data collection uses critical thinking skills tests in the form of essays, science attitude questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that students who used interactive teaching materials had a higher average N-gain than the control class. The results of the t-test show that there are significant differences in critical thinking skills. The students' scientific attitude showed a meaning that was not much difference between students who used interactive teaching materials and those without them. Students gave a positive response to climate change interactive teaching materials in science learning.

Abstract

Science learning in several schools in the Serang district still rarely conducts practicum, although practicum kits are available. Therefore, it is necessary to train teachers who are members of the Science MGMP Serang District. The purpose of the activity is to improve the skills of teachers to design simple practicums and use practicum kits. Activities were carried out in the duration of 34 JP in the form of training and assignment activities. Training session 1 was conducted online with output in the form of practicum designs made by teachers, while session 2 training was carried out offline at SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas. Academic evaluation is carried out on the collected tasks and non-academic evaluation includes participants' responses to training activities. The data obtained were analyzed in a quantitative descriptive manner. The results of the activity showed that teachers had varied teaching experiences, and the number of assignments collected was 40 practicum designs. Teachers are skilled in drafting practicum designs and using kits well. Teachers are satisfied with the training activities and hope that the activities can be carried out sustainably. After the activity, teachers are expected to be able to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to carry out practicum activities in learning science at their respective schools

Abstract

Improving Teacher Innovation through Transformational Leadership of School Principles and Achievement MotivationThis study aims to formulate concrete efforts in order to improve teacher innovation through a study on the relationship between; 1) transformational leadership and teacher innovation, 2) achievement motivation and teacher innovation, 3) transformational leadership and achievement motivation together with teacher innovation. This research was carried out at a private junior high school in Bogor Tengah District, Bogor City. This study was taken in correlational research using a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all permanent teachers of the Bogor City Private Junior High School foundation; 165 of 15 private junior high schools. The research sample was 117 people taken by proportional random sampling technique. The results of the study at a significant level of 5% showed that: 1) transformational leadership had a positive effect on teacher innovation where the correlation coefficient was ry1 = 0.53 and transformational leadership contributed 27.8% to teacher innovation, 2) achievement motivation had a positive effect on innovation teachers where the correlation coefficient was ry2 = 0.24 and achievement motivation contributed 5.9% to teacher innovation, 3) transformational leadership and achievement motivation together with teacher innovation as indicated by the correlation coefficient ry12 = 0.54 and transformational leadership and achievement motivation simultaneously contributed 29.1% to teacher innovation. The conclusion is that the higher the level of transformational leadership and achievement motivation, the higher the innovation of the teacher.

Abstract

This work aims to create interactive multimedia based on TPACK to enhance students' science process skills (SPS) on living cell matter. It offers an alternate method of learning that relies on creating and applying information technology to achieve learning goals (SPS). The ADDIE paradigm was utilized in the research and development process to create Interactive multimedia. These steps are Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The Interactive Multimedia development product was determined to be possible to be incorporated into a learning product based on the research findings and several validation and implementation tests carried out during the development process. The Interactive Multimedia is practicable, as evidenced by the percentage of data collected from the validator and the outcomes of the implementation test to the pupils. The students' SPS N-Gain analysis results obtained a score of 0.78 in the high category. In other words, a product that has undergone testing and validation may be one that can be used to aid in learning about living cells and can enhance students' science process skills.

Abstract

This study aims to find the characteristics of chemistry teaching material used by 16 teachers on the concept of voltaic cells in vocational high schools. The characteristics of teaching material accommodate 21st-century learning which includes the accuracy of the contents, the accuracy of the scope, the updating of the material, the comprehensibility of the text, the use of the language, and the use of the illustrations. The research identifies student competency profiles that are indispensable in 21st-century learning, namely creativity and concept mastery. The subject of the research is teaching material used by 16 chemistry teachers in 16 vocational high schools with 95 students studied. Data were collected using observation sheets, product creativity questionnaires, and tests of students' concept mastery. The data obtained were analyzed using a quantitative descriptive method. The results show that the teaching materials used in learning had not used an approach that encouraged creativity and learning outcomes for students. This resulted in low creative-thinking ability at a rate of 27.03% and in low mastery concept showed from the mean of learning outcomes at a score of 22.4 from a maximum score of 100. The study concludes that the characteristics of chemistry teaching material voltaic cells are not under the demands of the characteristics of 21st-century learning in the aspect of the content.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the importance of technical training for Family Planning instructors to increase competence in developing Population Data Houses, which is one of the government programs for implementing self-management of population data in rural areas using the local wisdom of silih asih, silih asah, and silih asuh. This research is a quantitative descriptive study carried out in June 2022 with 38 Family Planning Counselor respondents in Bogor Regency, West Java. The results of the research show that the perception of Family Planning instructors regarding local wisdom is at an average of 3.84, which means that the basic capital to be able to form a masagi or perfect character is at a good level, this can be the basic capital to be able to help each other develop themselves in the program training that will be developed in the future for West Java Province Family Planning Counselors. From the results of this assessment, it can be concluded that in the future Population technical training based on local wisdom is necessary for Family Planning instructors by preparing training tools that are appropriate to field conditions.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the learning system in schools. The learning that initially took place in class spontaneously turned into online learning. This change requires teachers to be more creative in designing learning. This study aims to improve students’ critical thinking skills through online problem-based learning integrated into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (PBL-STEM). The research was conducted on students of class X IPA (Natural Science) in a high school in Cianjur with a Non-Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group design. The research data were collected using a test of critical thinking skills in six valid essay questions with a reliability coefficient of 0.913. Besides, students’ responses to the application of PBL-STEM learning were collected through a questionnaire. The collected data were processed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that the online application of PBL-STEM went well, and there was an increase in critical thinking skills with an N-gain of 72%. The highest gain is on the indicator of explanation, and the lowest is evaluation. The results of the significance test showed that the increase in students’ critical thinking skills through PBL-STEM learning was more significant than PBL learning. Students also responded well to the implementation of PBL-STEM in learning during the COVID-19 pandemic by 81%.
