Abstract

Background: The nutritional issues faced by adolescents have shifted towards the condition of overnutrition, which includes obesity and overweight. Overnutrition occurs when there is an excessive body fat accumulation, potentially increasing the risk of degenerative diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, and others. According to Riskesdas 2018, the national prevalence of overnutrition adolescent was 13.5%. Some risk factors for the occurrence of overnutrition include genetics, psychological factors, excessive energy intake, physical activity, and socioeconomic status. Night eating syndrome is considered as a deviant eating behavior associated with overweight and obesity. Objectives: To analyze the relationship between night eating syndrome, fiber intake, and household income with the occurrence of overnutrition among students of SMAN 6 Depok. Methods: The research study design was cross-sectional. The sample was obtained using a stratified random sampling technique, resulting in 100 students from SMAN 6 Depok. Nutritional status was assessed based on body weight and height, night eating syndrome was measured using the Night Eating Syndrome Questionnaire, fiber intake was measured using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), and household income was classified based on the minimum wage of Depok City. Data analysis was conducted using chi-square and fisher's exact tests. Results: The bivariate analysis revealed that night eating syndrome (p=0.004) had a significant association with the occurrence of overnutrition. Fiber intake (p=1.00) and household income (p=0.954) showed no association with the occurrence of overnutrition. Based on the multivariate analysis, night eating syndrome was found to be the most significant factor associated with overnutrition. Conclusions: Night eating syndrome is the most significant factor associated with overnutrition. Researchers suggest avoiding stress, getting enough sleep, and controlling intake, especially in the evening.

Abstract

Sampah masih menjadi masalah utama di Kota Depok. Sampah yang diproduksi di Kota Depok setiap harinya mencapai 1.300 ton. Sedangkan kapasitas TPA Cipayung depok hanya 800 ton per hari. Pemerintah Kota Depok mengeluarkan Program Kampung Caraka (Kampung Cerdas Ramah Keluarga). Kampung Caraka bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan masalahan yang terjadi pada bidang kesehatan, ketahanan pangan, sampah dan lingkungan sampai dengan masalah terkait ketahanan keluarga dan pemberdayaan lansia. Salah satu program utamanya yaitu Pengolahan Sampah. Maggot (Black Soldire Fly) mampu mengolah sampah organik dengan cepat. Ketika dewasa maggot dapat diolah menjadi pakan ikan. Hasil olahan maggot berupa residu dapat menjadi media tanam. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dari bulan Juli 2023 sampai September 2024. Tahapan kegiatan yaitu pelatihan kader maggot, pembangunan rumah maggot, pelatihan maggot oleh tim kader maggot kepada perwakilan setiap kelurahan di Kecamatang Sawanga, pendampingan pengolahan sampah oleh kader maggot. Alat yang digunakan yaitu box pengolahan sampah, dan wadah penetasan maggot. Hasil dari kegiatan ini, 6 dari 7 kelurahan aktif melakukan pengolahan sampah. Total sampah yang berhasil diolah oleh tim kader maggot pada tahun pertama mencapai 747 kg, untuk perwakilan kelurahan mencapai 58 kg.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop a bagelen cookies with Red Palm Oil (RPO) substitution as an alternative of functional food high in beta carotene. Complete randomize design with level of RPO as a treatment was applied in this study to produce three substitution formulas and one basic formula. The selected bagelen was determined by sensory evaluation by considering the highest average value and level of RPO substitution. Bagelen with 42% Red Palm Oil (F3) was preferred by 70% panelist. This formula contained 3.11% water, 0.94% ash, 26.72% fat, 41.95% saturated fatty acids and 35.07% unsaturated fatty acids, 8.53% protein, 60.70% carbohydrate, 18.29 ppm (mg/kg) β-carotene, antioxidant activity 75.11% with AEAC value was 43.44 mg/100 g. With its high beta carotene as natural antioxidants, this product may be classified as functional food that are beneficial to health for preventing atherosclerosis.

Abstract

This study investigated the antioxidant activity and lactic acid bacteria content of soy yoghurt with red dragon fruit substitution. Analysis included sensory evaluation, proximate analysis, quantification of antioxidant activity and estimation of total Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). Formula 3 with 35% red dragon fruit substitution was selected as the optimal formula. Proximate analysis showed water content of 92.75%, ash content of 0.23%, protein content of 0.48%, fat content of 3.08%, and carbohydrate content of 3.46%. The selected product had an increased antioxidant activity. In conclusion, soyghurt with red dragon fruit can increase the antioxidant activity of the product.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between maternal and household characteristics with the Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) occurrence among pregnant women in East Nusa Tenggara (ENT). CED was observed through Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement of <23.5 cm. Utilizing a cross-sectional design using secondary data from the 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas) involving 387 pregnant women. Bivariate analysis (chi-square test) and multivariate analysis (multiple logistic regression) were conducted. Significant associations with the CED included parity (p=0.002), education level (p=0.018), access to hospital (transportation mode) (p=0.032), and access to primary healthcare facilities (travel time) (p=0.032). Multivariate analysis identified parity as the most influential variable for the CED occurrence among pregnant women (p=0.016; OR=1.868). In conclusion, mothers with a parity of less than two or more than three children had a higher risk of experiencing CED during pregnancy in ENT. To prevent CED and its consequences, it is recommended to emphasize family planning, address parity concerns, and prioritize maternal nutritional status before and during pregnancy.

Abstract

Lansia merupakan kelompok rentan yang berisiko tinggi mengalami jatuh akibat penurunan kekuatan otot, gangguan keseimbangan, dan penurunan fungsi kognitif. Jatuh dapat menyebabkan cedera serius, menurunkan kemandirian, dan berdampak pada kualitas hidup. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, diperlukan intervensi promotif dan preventif yang aplikatif di tingkat komunitas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan lansia dalam mencegah risiko jatuh melalui edukasi kesehatan dan latihan keseimbangan berbasis teknologi digital. Metode kegiatan meliputi pemeriksaan kesehatan awal, penyuluhan interaktif tentang risiko jatuh dan gangguan kognitif, praktik balance exercise, serta evaluasi pengetahuan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan, di mana pemahaman peserta naik dari 60% sebelum kegiatan menjadi 95% setelah kegiatan. Selain itu, peserta tampak lebih percaya diri melakukan latihan keseimbangan, didukung oleh media digital berupa video tutorial yang dapat diakses mandiri di rumah. Keterlibatan kader posyandu berperan penting dalam keberlanjutan program dan meningkatkan keaktifan peserta. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan berbasis komunitas dengan dukungan teknologi digital efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan lansia, serta berpotensi mengurangi risiko jatuh.

Abstract

Background: At the community level, assessment for children nutritional status is measured by female volunteer community health workers (FVCHW) through integrated health post (Posyandu). Based  on  initial  observation,  volunteers  have  sufficient  knowledge  of  anthropometric measurement however, to put it into practice, common pitfalls remain found.Refreshment on basic knowledge and practical training on anthropometric assessment is needed.Objectives:  As  part  of  Kampung  Caraka  Project  that  attempts  to  empower  locals  to  be deliberately  aware  of  community  health  and  well-being,  this  particular  study  aims  to  evaluate knowledge of FVCHW as well as their accuracy and precision on anthropometric assessment.Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental study with pre-posttest with control group design. The sample was purposively selected and 54 overweight adolescents were divided into a control group and two intervention groups. Education using healthy snacks quartet was conducted for 21 days  from  September  to  October  2023  in  Makassar  City.  Data  analysis  was  performed  using Wilcoxon singed ranks test.Results:  Results  showed  women  with  good  precision  for  MUAC,  height,  head  circumferences and length measurement were 23.1%, 23.1%, 53.8% and 33.3%, respectively. In contrast, only 7.7% of women had good accuracy on MUAC measurement. There is a significant difference of knowledge score before and after the education given (p-value 0.02, CI 95%).Conclusions:  The  cadre  had  good  precision  yet  poor  accuracy,  implying  the  necessity  of standardized procedure and regular equipment calibration prior to anthropometric measurement. There is a difference in mean scores before and after the education given, yet still denoted as low capacity. Further comprehensive education is highly required.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Obesitas menjadi masalah kesehatan global yang semakin mengkhawatirkan, termasuk di Indonesia. Angka kejadian obesitas pada populasi dewasa yang berusia 18 tahun ke atas terus menunjukkan peningkatan setiap tahunnya yaitu pada tahun 2007 sebesar 10,5%, menjadi 14,8% pada tahun 2013, dan pada tahun 2018 mencapai 21,8%. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan kualitas diet dengan persen lemak tubuh sebelum dan saat puasa Ramadhan pada mahasiswa UPN “Veteran” Jakarta.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi cross sectional dengan pengambilan sampel stratified random sampling. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 103 responden. Data identitas responden dan kualitas diet diambil melalui wawancara dengan panduan kuesioner (Food Recall 24h dan DQI-I). Data antropometri (persen lemak tubuh) diperoleh melalui pengukuran langsung. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji chi-square dan t-test.Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kualitas diet sebelum dan saat puasa Ramadhan (p=0,000). Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kualitas diet dengan persen lemak tubuh sebelum dan saat puasa Ramadhan (p=0,005; p=0,000). Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kualitas diet dengan persen lemak tubuh sebelum dan saat puasa Ramadhan. Mahasiswa disarankan untuk meperhatikan status gizi dan melakukan pengukuran berkala pada persen lemak tubuh diikuti dengan penerapan gaya hidup sehat. KATA KUNCI: kualitas diet; persen lemak tubuh; puasa ramadhan   ABSTRACTBackground: Obesity has become an increasingly concerning global health problem, including in Indonesia. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design with stratified random sampling. The sample size was 103 respondents. Data on respondent identity and diet quality were obtained through interviews using a questionnaire (24-hour Food Recall and DQI-I). Anthropometric data (body fat percentage) was obtained through direct measurement. Data analysis used the chi-square test and t-test. Results: There was a significant difference in diet quality before and during the Ramadan fasting period (p=0.000). There was a significant relationship between diet quality and body fat percentage before and during the Ramadan fasting period (p=0.005; p=0.000).Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between diet quality and body fat percentage before and during the Ramadan fasting period. Students are advised to pay attention to their nutritional status and conduct regular measurements of body fat percentage, followed by the implementation of a healthy lifestyle. KEYWORD: diet quality; body fat percentage; ramadan fasting

Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Remaja merupakan kelompok usia dengan kebutuhan gizi yang tinggi untuk mendukung pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya. Menurut Kementerian Kesehatan saat ini remaja tengah mengalami triple burden of malnutrition. Permasalahan gizi yang terjadi saat remaja dapat berdampak negatif dan terbawa hingga dewasa. Asupan gizi yang tidak seimbang serta kualitas diet yang rendah menjadi salah satu penyebab permasalahan gizi yang dialami remaja.Tujuan: Menganalisis kualitas diet remaja pada SMA Yadika 12 Depok menggunakan Diet Quality Indeks for Adolescents (DQI-A).Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain studi cross sectional. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Yadika 12 Depok dengan subjek sebanyak 108 siswa berusia 16-18 tahun. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada Februari 2024. Data kualitas diet didapatkan dari konversi form food recall 2x24 jam akhir pekan dan hari kerja dengan Diet Quality Indeks for Adolescents (DQI-A) yang telah dimodifikasi berdasarkan Pedoman Gizi Seimbang 2014. Data yang telah terkumpul di analisis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney.Hasil: Rata rata skor DQ adalah 7,55%, skor DD adalah 63,89%, dan skor DE adalah 26,91% dan skor kualitas diet (DQI-A) adalah 32,76%. Nilai terendah 13,38% dan tertinggi 58,72%. Berdasarkan nilai rata rata diketahui bahwa 54 responden (50%) memiliki kualitas diet kurang dan 54 responden (50%) memiliki kualitas diet baik. Hasil uji mann-whitney antara kualitas diet akhir pekan dan hari kerja responden (p= >0,05).Kesimpulan: Rata rata kualitas diet responden 32,76%. Tidak terdapat perbedaan kualitas diet remaja pada akhir pekan dan hari kerja. Skor DQ menjadi yang teredah sehingga perlu adanya perhatian lebih terhadap komponen tersebut, dapat dengan melakukan penyuluhan berkala terkait faktor dan dampak dari rendahnya kualitas diet. KATA KUNCI: kualitas diet; diet quality index for adolescents; kualitas pangan; keberagaman pangan; keseimbangan pangan  ABSTRACTBackground: Adolescents have high nutritional needs to support their growth and development. The research was conducted at SMA Yadika 12 Depok with 108 subjects aged 16-18. Data collection took place in February 2024. Diet quality data were obtained by converting food recall forms (2x24 hours) for weekends and weekdays using the Diet Quality Index for Adolescents (DQI-A) based on the 2014 Indonesian Balanced Nutrition Guidelines. The collected data is analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test.Results: The average DQ score was 7.55%, the DD score was 63.89%, the DE score was 26.91%, and the overall diet quality score (DQI-A) was 32.76%. The lowest score was 13.38% and the highest was 58.72%. Based on the average values, 54 respondents (50%) had poor diet quality and 54 respondents (50%) had good diet quality. The Mann-Whitney test showed no significant difference in diet quality between weekends and weekdays (p > 0.05).Conclusions: The average diet quality of respondents is 32.76%. There is no difference in adolescent diet quality between weekends and weekdays. Abstract

Abstrak: Pengelolaan sampah organik masih menjadi tantangan lingkungan yang signifikan, terutama di tengah kondisi Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) yang telah melampaui kapasitas seperti TPA Cipayung Depok. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mendampingi komunitas dalam mengolah sampah sisa makanan dari rumah tangga dan dapur makanan bergizi gratis (MBG) secara berkelanjutan melalui pemanfaatan maggot (Black Soldier Fly/BSF). Pendampingan dilakukan melalui pelatihan langsung (ceramah dan praktik) budidaya maggot dan penyediaan fasilitas penunjang. Program ini merupakan kolaborasi lintas sektor yang melibatkan pemerintah daerah, akademisi, dan pengurus program lingkungan di tingkat komunitas (mitra sasaran) yang beranggotakan 25 warga. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan penimbangan sampah harian dan maggot hasil panen, serta observasi secara langsung dan laporan grup whatsapp (daring), dengan analisis data deskriptif yang berfokus pada volume sampah dan dampak sosial ekonomi. Hasilnya, tim mitra sasaran mampu mengolah 200-300 kg sampah makanan per hari dan menjual minimal 75 kg maggot per bulan. Program ini juga mencakup hilirisasi maggot menjadi pakan pelet ikan secara mandiri. Program ini membuktikan efektivitas metode biokonversi maggot dalam mengurangi volume sampah dan memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi yang berkelanjutan bagi komunitas.Abstract: Organic waste management remains a significant environmental challenge, particularly with Final Processing Sites (TPA) exceeding capacity, such as the Cipayung Depok Landfill. This activity aims to assist communities in processing food waste from households and nutrition meals program kitchen sustainably through the use of maggots (Black Soldier Fly/BSF). The assistance is provided through direct training (lectures and practice) on maggot cultivation and the provision of supporting facilities. This program is a cross-sector collaboration involving local government, academics, and environmental program administrators at the community level (target partners) with 25 members. Evaluation is carried out through daily weighing of waste and harvested maggots, as well as direct observation and online WhatsApp group reports, with descriptive data analysis focusing on waste volume and socio-economic impacts. As a result, the target partner team is able to process 200-300 kg of food waste per day and sell a minimum of 75 kg of maggots per month. This program also includes independent downstream processing of maggots into fish pellet feed. This program demonstrates the effectiveness of the maggot bioconversion method in reducing waste volume and providing sustainable economic added value to the community.
