Abstract

Background: Overnutrition among Indonesian teenagers is a nutritional problem that has increased in recent years from 7.3% to 13.5%. Factors that contribute in the improvement of nutritional status include diet, lifestyle, and socio-economics. Overnutrition can lead to health complications, including non-communicable diseases. Objectives: To identify the relationship between energy intake, food preferences, peer influence, and parental education with the incidence of overnutrition among teenagers in Depok. Methods: This study used an observational approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample was taken by stratified random sampling from a chosen Senior High School (SMA) in Depok with a total of 108 participants. Nutritional status was obtained by measuring body weight (BB) and height (TB) using BMI-for-age (BMI/U), energy intake was measured by interviewing the 2x24-hour food recall, food preferences used the food and beverage preference questionnaire (FBPQ), peered influence was measured using the peered influence scale (PIS), and parental education was gathered through a questionnaire. Relationship analysis was carried out by chi-square and Fisher's exact tests. Results: Bivariate analysis shows that energy intake (p=0.030), food preferences (p=0.019), and peer influence (p=0. 006) were associated with the incidence of overnutrition. Parental education (father, p=0.365; mother, p=0.103) were not significantly associated with the incidence of overnutrition.   Conclusions: Individual factors among teenagers showed a relationship with the incidence of overnutrition. Teenagers need to pay attention to their energy intake, develop healthy food preferences, and utilize peered influence to adopt good eating behaviours to prevent overnutrition.

Abstract

Background: The nutritional issues faced by adolescents have shifted towards the condition of overnutrition, which includes obesity and overweight. Overnutrition occurs when there is an excessive body fat accumulation, potentially increasing the risk of degenerative diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, and others. According to Riskesdas 2018, the national prevalence of overnutrition adolescent was 13.5%. Some risk factors for the occurrence of overnutrition include genetics, psychological factors, excessive energy intake, physical activity, and socioeconomic status. Night eating syndrome is considered as a deviant eating behavior associated with overweight and obesity. Objectives: To analyze the relationship between night eating syndrome, fiber intake, and household income with the occurrence of overnutrition among students of SMAN 6 Depok. Methods: The research study design was cross-sectional. The sample was obtained using a stratified random sampling technique, resulting in 100 students from SMAN 6 Depok. Nutritional status was assessed based on body weight and height, night eating syndrome was measured using the Night Eating Syndrome Questionnaire, fiber intake was measured using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), and household income was classified based on the minimum wage of Depok City. Data analysis was conducted using chi-square and fisher's exact tests. Results: The bivariate analysis revealed that night eating syndrome (p=0.004) had a significant association with the occurrence of overnutrition. Fiber intake (p=1.00) and household income (p=0.954) showed no association with the occurrence of overnutrition. Based on the multivariate analysis, night eating syndrome was found to be the most significant factor associated with overnutrition. Conclusions: Night eating syndrome is the most significant factor associated with overnutrition. Researchers suggest avoiding stress, getting enough sleep, and controlling intake, especially in the evening.

Abstract

Sampah masih menjadi masalah utama di Kota Depok. Sampah yang diproduksi di Kota Depok setiap harinya mencapai 1.300 ton. Sedangkan kapasitas TPA Cipayung depok hanya 800 ton per hari. Pemerintah Kota Depok mengeluarkan Program Kampung Caraka (Kampung Cerdas Ramah Keluarga). Kampung Caraka bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan masalahan yang terjadi pada bidang kesehatan, ketahanan pangan, sampah dan lingkungan sampai dengan masalah terkait ketahanan keluarga dan pemberdayaan lansia. Salah satu program utamanya yaitu Pengolahan Sampah. Maggot (Black Soldire Fly) mampu mengolah sampah organik dengan cepat. Ketika dewasa maggot dapat diolah menjadi pakan ikan. Hasil olahan maggot berupa residu dapat menjadi media tanam. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dari bulan Juli 2023 sampai September 2024. Tahapan kegiatan yaitu pelatihan kader maggot, pembangunan rumah maggot, pelatihan maggot oleh tim kader maggot kepada perwakilan setiap kelurahan di Kecamatang Sawanga, pendampingan pengolahan sampah oleh kader maggot. Alat yang digunakan yaitu box pengolahan sampah, dan wadah penetasan maggot. Hasil dari kegiatan ini, 6 dari 7 kelurahan aktif melakukan pengolahan sampah. Total sampah yang berhasil diolah oleh tim kader maggot pada tahun pertama mencapai 747 kg, untuk perwakilan kelurahan mencapai 58 kg.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop a bagelen cookies with Red Palm Oil (RPO) substitution as an alternative of functional food high in beta carotene. Complete randomize design with level of RPO as a treatment was applied in this study to produce three substitution formulas and one basic formula. The selected bagelen was determined by sensory evaluation by considering the highest average value and level of RPO substitution. Bagelen with 42% Red Palm Oil (F3) was preferred by 70% panelist. This formula contained 3.11% water, 0.94% ash, 26.72% fat, 41.95% saturated fatty acids and 35.07% unsaturated fatty acids, 8.53% protein, 60.70% carbohydrate, 18.29 ppm (mg/kg) β-carotene, antioxidant activity 75.11% with AEAC value was 43.44 mg/100 g. With its high beta carotene as natural antioxidants, this product may be classified as functional food that are beneficial to health for preventing atherosclerosis.

Abstract

This study investigated the antioxidant activity and lactic acid bacteria content of soy yoghurt with red dragon fruit substitution. Analysis included sensory evaluation, proximate analysis, quantification of antioxidant activity and estimation of total Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). Formula 3 with 35% red dragon fruit substitution was selected as the optimal formula. Proximate analysis showed water content of 92.75%, ash content of 0.23%, protein content of 0.48%, fat content of 3.08%, and carbohydrate content of 3.46%. The selected product had an increased antioxidant activity. In conclusion, soyghurt with red dragon fruit can increase the antioxidant activity of the product.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between maternal and household characteristics with the Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) occurrence among pregnant women in East Nusa Tenggara (ENT). CED was observed through Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement of <23.5 cm. Utilizing a cross-sectional design using secondary data from the 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas) involving 387 pregnant women. Bivariate analysis (chi-square test) and multivariate analysis (multiple logistic regression) were conducted. Significant associations with the CED included parity (p=0.002), education level (p=0.018), access to hospital (transportation mode) (p=0.032), and access to primary healthcare facilities (travel time) (p=0.032). Multivariate analysis identified parity as the most influential variable for the CED occurrence among pregnant women (p=0.016; OR=1.868). In conclusion, mothers with a parity of less than two or more than three children had a higher risk of experiencing CED during pregnancy in ENT. To prevent CED and its consequences, it is recommended to emphasize family planning, address parity concerns, and prioritize maternal nutritional status before and during pregnancy.

Abstract

Kegiatan urban farming menjadi solusi strategis untuk menghadapi tantangan ketahanan pangan di daerah perkotaan. Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) memegang peran sentral sebagai aktor utama, seperti yang diimplementasikan oleh KWT Asri di Kelurahan Kedaung, Kecamatan Sawangan, Kota Depok, yang merupakan wilayah dengan Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) di bawah rata-rata kota. KWT Asri merupakan bagian dari inisiatif Pemerintah Kota Depok, yaitu program Kampung Cerdas Ramah Keluarga (CARAKA) yang mengintegrasikan berbagai permasalahan, termasuk Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis model pemberdayaan KWT Asri dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan pangan lokal. Riset ini mengadopsi pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi lapangan dengan teknik pengumpulan data triangulasi: wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi. Analisis menggunakan model CIPOO (Content, Input, Process, Output, dan Outcome). Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa proses pemberdayaan KWT Asri melibatkan kolaborasi antara Kelurahan Kedaung, Mitra Perguruan Tinggi (UPN Veteran Jakarta dan Universitas Sahid Jakarta), dan anggota KWT sendiri. Input mencakup penyediaan sarana dan prasarana (lahan, rumah pembibitan, kolam ikan, benih), serta pelatihan P2L dan pembuatan pupuk organik. Output yang dihasilkan beragam, seperti kangkung (50 ikat), bayam (15 ikat), terong (12 kg), timun suri (15,2 kg), kacang panjang (75 ikat), cabai (15 kg), dan pepaya (10 kg). Outcome utama kegiatan ini adalah pendistribusian sebagian besar hasil panen kepada keluarga yang memiliki bayi dan balita, sebagai upaya nyata intervensi gizi dan pencegahan stunting. Hasil panen sisanya dijual untuk modal kerja KWT. Dengan demikian, model pemberdayaan ini berhasil meningkatkan ketahanan pangan lokal, ketersediaan pangan segar, dan menciptakan model ekonomi sirkular berbasis komunitas di wilayah urban.
