Abstract

This study aims to explore models of the relationship between religion and the state in the Indonesian context by examining the thoughts of two prominent moderate Muslim intellectuals: Nurcholish Madjid and Abdurrahman Wahid. Utilizing a qualitative method through library research and content analysis, this study analyzes academic literature, ideological interpretations, and the socio-political historical context of Indonesia. The findings reveal three prevailing approaches: the integralistic, the secularistic, and the ethical-substantive model. Both Madjid and Wahid advocate for the ethical-substantive approach, which promotes justice, freedom, and deliberation within a democratic framework, without turning religion into a state ideology. The study concludes that their moderate perspectives are highly relevant for maintaining a balance between religious spirituality and state rationality in a pluralistic society. It is recommended that this ethical-substantive approach be adopted in public policy formulation and inclusive civic education in Indonesia.Keywords: Religion; State; Democracy; Ethical-Substantive Approach; Indonesia.

Abstract

Education contributes to improving human quality, which is highly related to the development of a regency. In general, the HDI or IPM in Sampang Regency has increased, according to data from BPS, the Human Development Index (HDI) of Sampang Regency in 2022 reached 63.39, an increase of 0.59 points (0.94 percent) compared to the previous year's achievement (62.80). During 2010-2022, the HDI of Sampang Regency increased by an average of 1.36 per cent per year from 54.49 in 2010 to 63.39 in 2022. This study aims to analyze the IPM in Sampang in order to find out what leverage factors can be used as a basis for factors that can increase HDI in Sampang Regency. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) only counts students who continue their studies in the Sampang Regency area as IPM data in the education sector. This problem makes the Expected Years of Schooling (HLS) numbers low in Sampang Regency. Meanwhile, the issue of Average Years of Schooling (RLS) will be expected to increase with the Paket C program. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for various parties who will analyze the Human Development Index (IPM) in the field of education. In particular, it is expected to be a reference for parties involved in the formulation of IPM in the field of education in Sampang Regency.

Abstract

This study presents the informal formative assessment practice embedded in teacher-students interaction in daily teaching activities. Although many previous studies claimed as informal formative assessment, the adequate information on how informal formative assessment integrated in EFL classroom interaction in the higher education level was not acquired yet. A case study design on ESRU Model was used with 59 Indonesian EFL teachers in higher education level. Online Survey questionnaire was used to determine participants to be involved for further investigation in classroom observation and interview. This research highlighted clarifying learning goal as prerequisite activity before conducting the ESRU model activities. Interestingly, of the four activities in ESRU model, the use information gained was potentially support students’ learning compared to other three activities; Elicits information, the student responds, and the teacher recognizes students’ responses. Hence, this study can contribute insight for the teachers to reflect their own teaching practice.

Abstract

Recently, English Specific Purposes is taking a crutial issue to be considered. Since the implementation of ESP is apropriate to the need of its studies, the English skills which required by students is getting growth. Indeed, grammar as one of language components which supports the language skills also changing as its usage. However, the implementation of the grammar usage in ESP, is not really proper to its context. This paper presents the possibilities factors behind its unproper usage and also some activities which raises students’ grammar awarenes . By knowing more about those issue will not only help the teacher to lead the students more effectively and properly in using the grammar, but it will also provide the teacher with a means of evaluating the teaching learning process and help the teacher to produce activities that will actually motivate the students to learn. Keywords: Grammatical Awareness, ESP, English Language Teaching

Abstract

Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (PPKM) pada masa Pandemi Covid-19 saat ini banyak merubah aktivitas masyarakat, salah satunya adalah kegiatan belajar dan bersekolah yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran daring. Penggunaan gadget sebagai alat bantu dalam penerapan sistem belajar dan bersekolah di masa pandemi ini sangat memberikan pengaruh perubahan perilaku yang sangat signifikan. Hal ini yang menjadi tujuan bagi pengabdian kami sebagai mahasiswi Universitas Pamulang kepada masyarakat untuk memberikan edukasi dampak dari penggunaan gadget bagi anak-anak usia 7-12 tahun di Tempat Pendidikan Agama Nur-Izzah, Cilangkap-Bogor dengan metode bermain, story telling dan belajar sehingga kegiatan PMkM ini berjalan dengan menyenangkan dan siswa/i memahami bahwa dampak negatif dari penggunaan gadget yang berlebihan serta tidak diikuti dengan tanggungjawab baik kepada diri sendiri maupun lingkungan menyebabkan kerugian yang sangat besar bagi mereka. Kami menyarankan kepada para orangtua untuk dapat memberikan batasan penggunaan gadget pada anak-anaknya, mengikuti perkembangan teknologi, perbanyak komunikasi dengan anak serta menanamkan prisnsip untuk peduli kepada lingkungan sekitar.Kata Kunci: Gadget; Karakter; Edukasi

Abstract

In this study, it was discussed about the role of sharia tourism as a means of Indonesian public diplomacy to increase the number of tourist visits and the regional economy, especially in Bandung City which is a sharia tourist destination. The research method used is qualitative with an approach to the concept of public diplomacy and Islamic tourism. The results showed that Indonesia's public diplomacy efforts in promoting itself as a sharia tourist destination have succeeded in attracting foreign tourists, especially Muslim tourists, as well as investment. In addition, sharia tourism has also experienced a positive increase, so that the increase in the number of tourist visits and investment can be used to develop the regional economy, especially in Bandung City as a sharia tourist destination

Abstract

This paper reports the findings of a case study investigating Grammar Translation Method (GTM) through mother tongue, much-isolated words, and putting words together in grammar class to scaffold students’ learning. Mixed methods, classroom observations, field-notes and videotape recording, were employed to collect the data. The data gained, then, transcribed and classified by using code. The selected data is displayed into table and analyzed descriptively. While validating data is done by crosschecking  the result of data analysis of each methods. The data is reported in regard with the result of findings and discussion to answer the research questions of this study. Findings indicate that among three types of GTM, the use of mother tongues was frequently used to give instruction.Other findings show that much-isolated words were used to introduce new vocabulary, and putting words together were used to explain topic discussion. Some changes to create effective GTM through other types of GTM was also discussed.

Abstract

Kain tenun songket khas suku Sasak di Desa Sukarara, Lombok Tengah, merupakan warisan budaya yang kaya akan nilai dan estetika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsep-konsep geometri seperti bangun datar dan simetri yang terkandung dalam berbagai motif songket, serta mengintegrasikannya sebagai sumber belajar etnomatematika di tingkat sekolah dasar. Pendekatan etnografi digunakan dalam studi ini, melibatkan pengumpulan data kualitatif melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi motif langsung dari pengrajin dan pengelola artshop setempat.Hasil analisis menunjukkan identifikasi jelas konsep geometri pada motif-motif utama seperti segi enam, belah ketupat, lingkaran, dan segitiga yang ditemukan pada motif seperti Subahnala, Bulan Bekurung, dan Bintang Empat. Selain itu, motif-motif ini tidak hanya memperkaya pemahaman visual tentang geometri, tetapi juga membawa makna filosofis dan simbolis yang mendalam terkait kehidupan sosial-budaya masyarakat Sasak.Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan motif songket Sasak melalui pendekatan etnomatematika menawarkan peluang besar untuk membuat pembelajaran matematika, khususnya geometri, menjadi lebih kontekstual, bermakna, dan berbasis budaya lokal bagi siswa, sekaligus mendukung upaya pelestarian warisan budaya daerah.
