Abstract

Fly ash and bottom ash (FABA) generated from coal combustion in steam power plants have the potential to cause environmental contamination; however, their mineral content enables their reutilization as raw materials for inorganic fertilizers. This study aimed to evaluate the major metal element content in FABA-based fertilizer produced from the Anggrek Steam Power Plant, North Gorontalo Regency, in order to assess its potential as a nutrient source. Ca and Mg were analyzed using titration methods, while Al, Fe, P, and K were determined by UV–Vis spectrophotometry with good calibration curve linearity (r 0.97). The results showed that the K content in fertilizer samples 1 and 2 was 0.0189% and 0.0140%, respectively. Ca concentrations ranged from 16.8–21.6 mg/L and Mg from 7.29–10.21 mg/L. Al was detected within the range of 3.68–4.44 ppm, while Fe and P were identified in measurable amounts. The presence of Ca, Mg, and K as macronutrients indicates that FABA waste has potential as a raw material for inorganic fertilizer, while also supporting sustainable industrial waste management practices.

Abstract

Students’ critical thinking skills, particularly in electrochemistry, remain low because instruction tends to be teacher-centered and makes insufficient use of interactive technology. In addition, studies investigating the use of the flipped classroom approach assisted by Edpuzzle and PhET simulations in electrochemistry learning remain scarce. Therefore, this research was conducted to examine the impact of applying a flipped classroom model integrated with Edpuzzle and PhET simulations on students’ critical thinking skills. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Limboto, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument consisted of a 10-item essay test that was valid and reliable, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.814. The results showed that the average critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class increased from 29.17 to 74.26, with an N-Gain value of 0.63, classified as moderate. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest in both classes (p < 0.05), while the Mann–Whitney U test showed no significant difference in the pretest (p = 0.060 > 0.05), but a significant difference in the posttest (p < 0.05). Thus, the flipped classroom model supported by Edpuzzle and PhET simulations can serve as an alternative learning approach to enhance students’ critical thinking skills in electrochemistry.

Abstract

Dampak praktisnya tampak pada tumbuhnya kesadaran kolektif, lahirnya produk olahan berbasis bahan setempat yang siap diuji pasar, serta menguatnya keterampilan manajerial rumah tangga khususnya di kalangan ibu-ibu PKK.Kata Kunci: Kearifan Lokal, diversifikasi, pangan lokal AbstractThe community in Hutuo village is still heavily dependent on one type of staple food, namely rice. However, this area is rich in local food sources such as corn, sweet potatoes, sago, bananas, and various types of vegetables that are highly nutritious and have long been part of the community's traditions. However, the use of local foods has begun to decline, meaning that this enormous potential has not been optimally utilized to support food security. The objectives of this activity are to identify the potential of local food sources and to explore, document, and apply local practices related to the utilization and processing of these food sources. In addition, this activity aims to provide education and training to the community so that they are able to process local food creatively to add value.Method This community service activity prioritizes an educational approach, assistance, and the application of appropriate technology in accordance with local potential and community needs. This program includes: identification and analysis of community problems, socialization and counseling, training and capacity building, assistance and implementation, evaluation and feedback. The result of this activity is that through a series of socialization and technical training that combines traditional recipes with the principles of sanitation, packaging, labeling, and quality based on appropriate technology, residents not only understand the risks of dependence on a single staple food, but are also able to practice a more nutritious and safer menu diversification. The process of documenting knowledge, starting from recipe books and processing SOPs, encourages intergenerational skill transfer while maintaining the ethics of consent and attribution to local knowledge owners. The practical impact is evident in the growth of collective awareness, the emergence of locally sourced processed products that are ready for market testing, and the strengthening of household managerial skills, especially among mothers in the Family Empowerment and Welfare program. Keywords: Local Wisdom, diversification, local food
