Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of mixture of cocopeat and rock phosphate on growth and yield of three varieties of upland rice in Ultisols medium. The research was conducted at the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from March to August 2017. The research used Split Plot Design. The main plot were upland rice consist of three varieties (Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang and Inpago 8). The subplots were mixture of cocopeat 10 t ha-1 with rock phosphate (RP) doses 0, 30, 45, and 60 P2O5 kg ha-1. The parameters observed were plant height, number of maximum tillers and productive tillers, panicle length, flowering age, number of grain panicle-1, weight of dry milled grain and weight of 1000 grain. The results showed that the application of mixture of cocopeat doses 10 t ha-1 and RP doses 30 – 60 P2O5 kg ha-1 have effect to plant height, panicle length, and weight 1000 grain for Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang and Inpago 8 compare to without RP, but tended increase number of maximum and productive tillers and decrease flowering age. The application cocopeat doses 10 t ha-1 and RP doses 30 P2O5 kg ha-1 increased number of filled grain panicle-1 and weight of dry milled grain on three varieties, weight of dry milled grain Situ Patenggang > Inpago 8 > Situ Bagendit on each doses of RP and have number of productive tillers of these varieties 1,5 – 2  is greater than its descriptions.Keywords : rock phosphate, ultisol, upland rice

Abstract

The wider the area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia, the more palm oil mills will process more oil palm fruit bunches and produce waste one of them is liquid waste. The amount of liquid waste that is more and more if not treated properly will cause environmental pollution. The research aim to study the effect of liquid waste of oil palm factory (LWOPF) with biopori method to the growth of immature oil palm plant. The experiment was conducted in oil palm plantation of Agricultural Faculty of Riau University from May to July 2017. The experiment was arrange drandomized complete design consisting of 13 treatments (without LWOPF; 5; 7.5 and 10 liters LWOPFeachapplied in 1, 2, 3 and 4 biopore/plants), each repeated three times.The parameters observed were plant height, number of midrib, length of midrib, number of leaves, width and length of leaves. The results showed that the application ofLWOPF dose 7.5 liters applied in 4 biopore holes / plants increased addition the number of midrib and the leaves, the width and length of the leaves compared to without LWOPF and the highest than another treatment, but the addition of plant high increased at doses 7.5 liters in 3 biopore/plant and highest than another treatment.Key words : Liquid Wastes of Oil Palm Factory, Biopore Holes, Oil Palm Plants

Abstract

The need of rice as the staple food of the people of Indonesia has a deficit every year. Upland rice cultivation in dry land such as Ultisols became one of the alternatives to meeting the needs of rice. However, productivity of crop in Ultisols is low because of some problems of acidity and nutrients deficiency. It is necessary input such as ameliorants like biochar cocopeat of oil palm empty bunch compost (OPEBC) and the use of bacterial non-symbiotic nitrogen fixation (NSNF) to fix the problems. The research aims to study the effect of application of ameliorant and suspensions of bacterial isolates of NSNF on growth and N uptake by upland rice in Ultisols medium. The research was conducted at the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from Mei to September 2017. The research in form factorial experiment was arranged a completely randomized design (CRD). The first factor were ameliorant, consists of six type (biochar, cocopeat, OPEBC, biochar+cocopeat, biochar+OPEBC, each doses 50 g polybag-1 and without ameliorant as a control). The second factor were suspensions of bacterial isolates of NSNF, consists of three levels (10 and 20 ml polybag-1 and without bacterial isolates as a control). The parameters observed were plant height, number of tillers, weight of dry shoot and roots, N uptake by shoot and roots. The results show that the application of ameliorant (biochar, cocopeat, OPEBC, biochar + cocopeat, biochar + OPEBC), each doses of 50 g polybag-1 and suspensions of bacterial isolates of NSNF doses of 0, 10 and 20 ml polybag-1 increased plant height, number of tillers, weight of dry shoot and N uptake by shoot compared to control and the application of without ameliorant with suspension of bacterial isolates of NSNF doses of 0, 10 and 20 ml polybag-1.Key words : biochar, cocopeat, palm oil empty bunch, upland rice, ultisol

Abstract

The use of organic matter in agricultural production is important in increasing crop production, especially in Ultisols. This study aimed to study the interaction between vermicompost and biochar on the growth and yield of soybean (Glycine max L.) in Ultisols. The research was carried out in the experimental station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Bina Widya Tampan campus, Pekanbaru from July - September 2018. The research used factorial design form in a completely randomized design. The first factor is vermicompost which consists of 4 levels (doses of 0, 25, 50 and 75 g of polybag-1) while the second factor is biochar consisting of 4 levels (doses of 0, 25, 50 and 75 g of polybag-1) for each combination repeated 4 times. The parameters observed were the number of effective roots, proportion of effective nodules, plant height, number of primary branches, age of plants, age of harvest, proportion of well-fused pods, number of seeds, seed weight and weight of 100 seeds. The results showed that the interaction of vermicompost at a dose of 25 g.polybag-1 following a dose of 50 g.polybag-1 biochar increased the number of effective root nodules, the proportion of effective root nodules, the number of primary branches, the proportion of pithy pods, and accelerated plant age and soybean plant age compared without treatment but not significantly compared to other combinations.Key words : Soybean, vermicompost, biochar

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik longsor lahan, mengetahui faktor dominan yang menyebabkan terjadinya longsor lahan dan memetakan sebaran daerah rawan longsor lahan di sebagian wilayah Kabupaten Karo. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tahun 2014 di enam kecamatan yaitu Kecamatan Dolat Rayat, Berastagi, Merdeka, Kabanjahe, Simpang Empat, dan Naman Teran. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah keenam kecamatan dengan teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan menggunakan peta kemiringan lereng. Data kemudian diolah berdasarkan pengharkatan dari tiap-tiap parameter yang telah diberikan skor. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik observasi langsung dan dokumentasi dengan teknik analisis data adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik longsor lahan pada daerah penelitian ada dua jenis yaitu jenis longsoran rotasi dan longsoran translasi.Faktor dominan penyebab terjadinya longsor lahan di daerah penelitian adalah faktor kemiringan lereng. Agihan daerah rawan longsor lahan pada daerah penelitian terbagi dalam tiga tingkatan kerawanan longsor lahan yaitu ringan, yaitu berada pada enam kecamatan dengan luas 3462,6 Ha, daerah rawan longsor  sedang yaitu berada pada keenam kecamatan dengan luas 24.300,4 Ha dan kelas berat berada pada keenam kecamatan daerah penelitian dengan luas lahan yaitu 209,8 Ha, dimana terlihat bahwa yang dominan adalah tingkat rawan longsor lahan sedang.

Abstract

The efforts of increasing growth, development and productivity of red onionthrough fertilization. Organic and inorganic fertilizers are used. This combination of fertilizers is expected to increase the growth of shallots, because the functions as a nutrient source and it is able to improve the physical and biological properties of the land.The study was conducted on the experimental field of the Agriculture Faculty University of Riau on February until April 2018. A randomized block design with two factors are used in this study. The first factor was 4 levels of biourine (control, 200 ml.l-1, 250ml.l-1, and 300 ml.l-1).The second factor was 4 levels of potassium(control, 36kg K2O.ha-1, 54kgK2O.ha-1, and 72kgK2O.ha-1). The parameters that were observed such as leaf length, number of leaves, number of tubers, tubers, fresh weight of tubers per clump, fresh weight of tubers per plot, tuber weight worth keeping. The result showed that there were interaction between biourin and potassium on fresh weight parameters per plot and fresh weight worth keeping per plot. The main factor treatment of biourin has significant effect through all of parameters that were observed. The main factor treatment of potassium fertilizer has a significant effect through all of observational parameters except on the parameters of the number of tubers.The combination of good treatment were obtained from the treatment of biourin and potassium at a concentration of 250 ml.l-1 at a dose of 72 kg K2O.ha-1. Keywords:Biourin, Potassium, Red Onion (Allium ascalonicum L.

Abstract

The  research is to study the effect application of Trichokompos and NPK fertilizer on the growth of cocoa seeds (Theobroma cacao L.) on peat medium. This research was conducted at Experimental Garden of Agricultural Faculty of University of Riau, Campus of Bina Widya, Tampan, Pekanbaru from March to June 2016. The research in form factorial used Randomized Complete Design (RCD). The first factor is Trichokompos consist of 4 levels: (0, 50, 100 and 150 g/seed) and the second factor is NPK fertilizer consist of 4 levels: (0, 2, 4 and 6 g/seed) each treatment combination was repeated 3 times. Parameters observed included height of seeds, number of leaves, stem diameter, root volume, root canopy ratio and dry weight of seeds. The results showed that the application of Trichokompos dose 150 g/seed and NPK festilizer dose 2 g/seed the height of seeds, stem diameter, root volume and dry weight of cocoa seeds increated compared to other, except in combination with higher doses. Different canopy ratios are not evident in any combination of Trichokompos and NPK fertilizers. Keyword: Cocoa, Trichokompos, NPK fertilizer, peat moss

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effect of cocoa fruit skin compost (CFSC) on Ultisol medium the growth of cocoa seed. This research was conducted in experiment garden of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, at Bina Widya Campus, Subrantas Street km 12.5, Simpang Baru, Tampan, Pekanbaru. This research taken time as 3 months starting from june 2016 until October 2016. This experiment was conducted used Randomized Complete Design (RCD) non factorial is cocoa fruit skin compost (CFSC) consist of 6 level (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 g cfsc/plant) with 3 replications. Observation parameters consist of seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter, canopy dry weight, dry weight of root and root canopy ratio. The result of this research show that the applications 200 g cfsc/plant increased seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter, canopy dry weight, dry weight of root and root canopy ratio compared with without applications. Abstract

This research aims to look at the interaction effect of bio-slurry giving solid and NPK fertilizer tablets, as well as to stroke the best dose of bio-slurry solid manure and NPK tablet to increase the growth and production of sweet corn. improve (Zea mays Saccharata Sturt). The research was conducted at the test farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Campus Bina Widya, New Simpang Village, District Handsome, Pekanbaru. The study was conducted in September-November 2017. The study consisted of two factors. The first factor is a fixed dose of Bio-Slurry consisting of three levels, namely B0: 0 kg per plot, B1: 7.5 kg per plot and B2: 15 kg per plot. The second factor talet NPK (10:10:14) consists of three levels, namely P0: 0 tablets per plant, P1: 2 tablets per plant and P2: 4 tablets per plant. Of the two factors above 9, treatment combinations were obtained and each was repeated three times, resulting in 27 graphs of experimental units. Data obtained from observations were statistically analyzed using SAS System Version 9.20. The results of the multiplication analysis were continued with Duncan's multiple-range test at 5% level. The observed parameters were plant height, time of male flower, time of female flower, flask diameter, length of tuna, harvest age and cob weight without clot per sample. Increasing doses of bio-slurry solids and NPK tablet improve plant growth and high production, while male flowers, while female flowers, corn cob diameter, corn cob length, corn cob weight and age of the sweet corn crop. Giving solid biological slurry of 15 kg per plot and NPK 100 tablets per plot yields the best growth and production of sweet corn plants. Keywords: Sweet corn, bio-slurry, fertilizer NPK tablet
