Abstract

Hutan alam rawa gambut yang dialihfungsikan dapat merubah sifat kimia tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana perubahan sifat kimia tanah yang terjadi setelah dilakukannya alih fungsi lahan dari hutan rawa gambut menjadi kebun sawit, HTI Acacia crasicarpa, dan kebun sagu serta mengetahui jenis tanaman mana yang bersifat sustainable (berkelanjutan) pada lahan gambut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pH tanah mengalami peningkatan setelah dilakukannya alih fungsi lahan. Sedangkan kadar air mengalami penurunan. Sifat kimia seperti C-organik, kadar abu, KTK, kejenuhan basa, hara makro (NPK) dan basa-basa dapat ditukar juga mengalami perubahan setelah mengalami perubahan landuse, akan tetapi tidak terdapat pelanggaran berdasarkan pada undang undang yang dibuat oleh pemerintah pada PP. No 25 Tahun 2000 tentang kriteria kerusakan gambut dan Peraturan Pemerintah No. 150 Tahun 2000 tentang pengendalian kerusakan tanah untuk produksi biomasa. Sagu adalah tanaman yang paling sustainable dibanding lainnya karena mengalami perubahan sifat kimia tanah tidak terlalu jauh berbeda dengan landuse lainnya meskipun ditanam dalam jangka waktu yang lama.

Abstract

This study seeks to determine the impact of palm oil wastewater, the number of biopore holes, and their interaction on oil palm plant growth and Dystrudepts soil physical properties. This study was carried out between December 2019 and April 2019. This research was conducted using a 3x3 factorial experiment with a Randomized Block Design; each treatment was replicated three times, and each experimental unit contained three plants for 81 experimental plants. The first variable was the dosage of palm oil effluent, which consisted of 7.5 liter/plant/2 weeks, 10 liters/plant/2 weeks, and 12.5 liters/plant/2 weeks. The second factor had three levels: two biopore holes/plants, four biopore holes/plants, and six biopore holes/plants. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to the data. If the treatment is markedly different, a second test is conducted using the 5% level of the Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) test. (1) Palm oil mill effluent at a concentration of 7.5 liters/plant increased the total pore space. The effluent from a palm oil mill at a rate of 12.5 liters per plant decreases BD and PD while increasing final plant height, midrib length, leaf length, and chlorophyll content. (2) Adding two biopores per plant increased plant height, midrib length, and leaf width. The presence of four biopores per plant decreased BD and PD and increased leaf length and chlorophyll content. Six openings per plant biopores have an effect on increasing the total pore space, and (3) The interaction between LCPKS doses of 12.5 liters/plant and the number of biopores of 6 holes/plant decreases BD and increases total pore space, plant height, frond length, leaf length, and leaf breadth.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Endophytes Bacillus sp. and potassium (K), and get the best combination in inducing stem rot disease and growth of oil palm seedlings. This research was conducted at BioCertilizer and Biopesticide Industrial Unit (BICCOM) of Riau University with experimentally using Factorial Randomized Design (RAL) with two factors, 3 replications. The first factor was the concentration of Endophytes Bacillus sp., B1 (3,37x1011 cfu/ml), B2 (2,98x1012 cfu/ml), B3 (2.79x1013 cfu/ml). The second factor was the K dose, consisting of 4 levels: K0 (without K), K1 (0.1 g/polybag), K2 (0.25 g/polybag), K3 (0.5 g/polybag). The data obtained were analyzed statistically with anova and DMRT 5%. The parameters observed were incidence of symptoms, disease intensity, salicylic acid concentration, seed height, leaf number, base diameter, root shoot ratio and seedlings dry weight. The results indicate that Endophytes Bacillus sp. and K fertilizer and single factor K fertilizer did not affect all parameters. Single factor Endophytes Bacillus sp. are able to inhibit the emergence of early symptoms, reduce disease intensity, salicylic acid concentration, seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter and dry weight of seedlings. Combination of Endophytes Bacillus sp. 3.37x1011 cfu/ml and K 0.25 g/polybag tend to increase the number of leaves, stem diameter and dry weight of seedlings.

Abstract

The aim of research to study the effect of Boiler ash origin palm oil mills (PKS) and the pulp on growth and yield of onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) on peatland. Research conducted at the experimental farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang village, Kampar District, Riau Province from August to November 2015. The study using the split-plot design (Split Plot Design), as the main plot, Boiler ash consists of two levels (plant origin MCC and pulp), and the subplot is boiler ash doses (0, 3, 6, and 9 tons/ha). Parameters measured were plant height, tuber number, the weight of tuber per hill, and tuber yield per m2. The results showed that plant height increased markedly in the application of 3 tons/ha ash from two sources, the number of tubers per clump sample increased markedly on the application of 6 tons/ha ash from PKS, as well as tuber weight per hill and tuber yield per m2 tends to increase with the application 3-9 tonnes/ha, the increase is greater with higher doses of ash from both sources.

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of inorganic and organic ameliorant dressing on ultisol subsoil medium on the growth of oil palm (Elaeis gueneensis Jacq)seedling in the main nursery. The research was conducted at greenhouse AgricultureFaculty, Riau University Pekanbaru from June to November 2016.The experiment in form factorial using Completely Randomized Design (CRD).The first-factor is an organic ameliorant ei.fly ash and dregs consist of 4 levels (without ameliorant, 50 g fly ash, 50 g dregs and 25 fly ash + 25 dregs per polybag). The second factor is organic ameliorant ei.cocopeat and oil palm empty fruit bunches compost (OPEFBC)consist of 6 levels (without ameliorant, 100 g cocopeat, 100 g OPEFBC, 50 g cocopeat + 50 g OPEFBC, 100 g cocopeat + 50 g OPEFBC and 50 g cocopeat + 100 g OPEFBC per polybag). The parameters observed were the addition of plant height, number of leaves, a diameter of the stump, length of leaf midrib and leaves. The results showed that the combination of 50 g dregs/polybag with 100 g OPEFBC/polybag increased the plant height and combination of 25 g fly ash + 25 g dregs with 50 g cocopeat + 50 OPEFBC increased diameter of stump and length of leaf midrib significantly compared to without ameliorant, but non significantly compared to another combination.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the effect of the application of waste of palm oil factory liquid on the soil physical characteristic of palm oil plantations. The application of waste of palm oil factory liquid done on a tract the application of which is called by the land application (LA) and LA have been made over 8 years. The research conducted inland of palm oil plantation Batubara Regency, North Sumatra Province from August to November 2015. The method used in this research was survey method. Determination of the sampling and research location was done deliberately by the purpose of the research (purposive sampling). Soil samples for analysis of soil physical characteristic were taken from distance 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 meters from canal application of palm oil factory liquid waste or land application (LA) with 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm and 20-30 cm depth each other taken from 5 points, included two on the right and left upper of LA and two on the right and left downstream of LA, and without LA used as a control. The results showed that the application of waste of palm oil factory liquid to decreases bulk density and increase the total pore space, water content, permeability and C-organic of soil of oil palm plantations compared to control at a distance 1 meter from LA and decreased with the farther the distance LA (5 m) and deeper (0-30cm), but will not affect particles density.

Abstract

The research aims to study the interaction of dolomite dose and P fertilizer application on growth and yield of peanut plants as intercropped between palm oil on peatland. The study was conducted in the agriculture experimental station Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang village, Kampar District, from December 2015 to April 2016. The research utilizes a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), which consists of two factors. The first factor is dolomite consists of 3 levels (0, 500 and 1000 kg/ha) and second factor P fertilizer consists of 4 levels (0, 23, 46 and 69 kg P2O5/ha), each combination has 4 replication. The parameters observed were plant height, number of primary branches, flowering age, harvesting age, number of pods, number of seeds per pods, the weight of dry seeds and filled seeds/m2, percentage of filled seeds, the weight of 100 seeds. The data of each parameter were analyzed with analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results showed that the increase of weight of dry seeds and filled seeds /m2were significant at the application of 69 kg P2O5/hafollowed by 500 kg dolomite/ha and percentage of filled seeds at the application of 69 kg P2O5/hafollowed by 1000 kg dolomite/ha compared to without P fertilizer and dolomite, whereas in plant height, number of primary branches, flowering age, harvesting age, number of pods, number of seeds per pods and weight 100 seeds were not significant each combination of treatments.

Abstract

The research aims to obtain a combination of doses of palm oil empty bunches compost (POEBC) and boiler ash to increase the growth and yield of watermelons on peatlands. The experiment was conducted in factorial form using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor was POEBC consisting of 4 levels (0; 7,5; 10 and 12,5 ton/ha) and the second factor is boiler ash consisting of 4 levels (0; 2,5; 5 and 7,5 ton/ha), and each combination was repeated 3 times. Parameters observed were plant length, stem diameter, flowering age, the weight of fruit per plant, and yield per plot (15 m2). The results showed that the combination of POEBC dosage 12,5 ton/ha and boiler ash dosage 7,5 ton/ha increased the plant length, stem diameter, the weight of fruit per plant 453%, yield per plot 139% and flowering 8 days faster compared to control (without treatment).

Abstract

The research aims to examine the effect of the application of waste processing palm oil mill (Empty Fruit Bunches and Palm Oil Mill Effluent) on soil physical properties. The research was conducted at the oil palm plantation at Pelalawan and Laboratory of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Riau from March to May 2016. The study was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), which consisted of 4 treatments (EFB, POME, EFB+POME and without application as control). Each treatment was repeated 3 times. EFB and POME have been applied to the land since 2001 with intervals giving every 6 months. Soil samples were applied EFB, POME, and EFB+POME taken on Blocks B3, Blocks B7 and Blocks C17. Soil samples were taken at a depth of 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm for disturbed and undisturbed soil. Parameters measured were soil water content, bulk density, particle density, total pore space, permeability, and soil color. Each parameter of the observed data was statistically analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level, while the soil color was descriptively analyzed. The results showed that the application of a mixture of EFB+POME increased soil moisture and bulk density decrease significantly and tended to increase the total pore space and permeability and tends to be lower particle density than controls, but it was not evident when compared EFB applications and POME alone. Applications waste processing palm oil mill affected the color of the soil where the soil is black on the application mix EFB+POME (hue: 10 YR, value/chroma: 2/1), brown on the application EFB (hue: 10 YR, value/chroma: 4/3 ), dark brown on the application of POME (hue: 10 YR, value/chroma: 3/3) and yellowish-brown in without application (hue: 10 YR, value/chroma: 5/4).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari sifat kimia tanah, pengaruh interaksi dan faktor tunggal, serta kombinasi terbaik dari aplikasi biochar cangkang kelapa sawit dan pupuk NPK terhadap tanaman jagung manis. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap factorial (RALF). Faktor pertama adalah biochar cangkang kelapa sawit dengan 4 taraf, yaitu 0; 1,5; 3; dan 4,5 ton.ha-1. Faktor kedua adalah pupuk NPK dengan 4 taraf, yaitu 0, 150, 200, dan 250 ton.ha-1. Data dianalisis statistik ragam dan uji lanjut DNMRT taraf 5%. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kombinasi biochar cangkang kelapa sawit dan pupuk NPK pada tanah marginal mampu memperbaiki sifat kimia tanah yaitu terjadi peningkatan P-tersedia, N-total, K-dd, dan KTK. Pemberian biochar cangkang kelapa sawit dosis 4,5 ton.ha-1 secara tunggal, nyata meningkatkan seluruh parameter pengamatan tanaman. Pemberian pupuk NPK dosis 250 kg.ha-1 secara tunggal, nyata meningkatkan seluruh parameter pengamatan tanaman. Biochar cangkang kelapa sawit dosis 4,5 ton. ha-1 dengan pupuk NPK dosis 200 kg.ha-1 nyata meningkatkan seluruh parameter pengamatan dibandingkan dengan tanpa biochar dan pupuk NPK.
