Abstract

This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and obstacles to learning chemistry during COVID-19 at SMAN 1 Narmada school year 2020. This type of research is descriptive, using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling with a purpositive sampling type. Retrieval of data about students’ chemistry learning using a questionnaire and the teacher by conducting interviews. The data analysis technique is done by calculating the percentage of the results obtained: the planning teacher prepares a new RPP to adapt to the learning situation by changing some aspects of the RPP. The implementation, in a row, preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities of 73%, 70%, and 72% are included in the criteria of good enough. Chemistry learning obstacles of 83% included in the very high category.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effecf of discovery learning model assisted by handout to creative thinking ability and chemistry learningoutcomes of X class science students of SMAN 4 Mataram. This research used quasi-experimental research design with pre-test and post-test Control Group Design. The population in research include all of X grade students of IPA SMA Negeri 4 Mataram, were 143 people that distributed into 4 classes IPA. Sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The samples in this research was X IPA 1 as an experimental class and X IPA 2 as a control class. In experiment class was given treatment using the discovery learning model assisted by handout, on control class was given using conventional learning model. The instrument used was a descriptions test. Hypothesis tested in this study uses t-test on the analysis of creative thinking ability with statistical test results at a significant level of 5% indicated tcount (4,850) > ttable (1,669) which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted and Mann Whitney U-test on the results analysis chemistry learning with statistical test results at a significant level of 5% shows Zcount (4.13) > Ztable (1,645) which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the results of the statistical tests of the two sample classes, it was found that the learning of discovery learning models assisted by handout had a positive influence on the ability to think creatively and the results of chemistry learning in class X science students of SMA Negeri 4 Mataram. Based on the results of observations of student learning activities discovery learning models assisted by handouts have a positive impact in increasing student activity during the chemistry learning process in class X science students of SMA Negeri 4 Mataram.

Abstract

This research is a study in Research and Development (R&D) that aims to assess the validity and feasibility of project-based chemistry practicum modules. The study adopts a 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The test subjects in this investigation comprised 21 students from class XII MIPA 1 at SMAN 7 Mataram, selected based on interviews with chemistry teachers. The results indicated that the validity value obtained from the three validators using the Aiken index was V=0.84, signifying that the practicum module was highly valid, and the reliability level was 0.93, indicating that the module is feasible for use. Additionally, the feasibility value of the module demonstrates an average feasibility of 84%, suggesting its high feasibility. Consequently, it can be concluded that the project-based chemistry practicum module developed is highly valid and feasible for use in chemistry learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the implementation of chemistry learning in the use of digital media and to find out the obstacles to implementing chemistry learning in the use of digital media after the Covid-19 pandemic at SMA Negeri 2 Mataram. The approach used by researchers is a descriptive qualitative approach, determining informants using a non-probability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The percentage of implementation of chemistry learning using digital media at SMAN 2 Mataram has been carried out well, reaching 80%, the results of the questionnaire used the Likert scale calculation method. Chemistry learning uses digital media which is carried out by teachers using WPS Office Power Point media (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point) and LCD. Meanwhile, students actively utilize digital learning platforms, namely accessing learning videos from YouTube, looking for material references through Ruang Guru, and actively discussing via WhatsApp groups. An obstacle in the chemistry learning process using digital media for teachers at SMAN 2 Mataram is the lack of teacher mastery in the development and use of digital media. Meanwhile, the obstacle for students in using digital media in learning is the limited internet connection for students at school.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are very necessary in solving problems in chemistry in the form of theories, concepts, laws and facts. Chemistry lessons not only develop knowledge, understanding and analytical skills but also need to develop students' critical thinking abilities. The aim of this research is to describe the chemistry critical thinking skills of class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsari based on the implementation of the independent learning curriculum. This research is quantitative research using descriptive methods. The research results show that the students' critical thinking skills scores are in the high category with a percentage of 80.2%. Dominantly, the critical thinking skills obtained by class XI IPA A students are in the sufficient category with a percentage of 77.9% and the critical thinking skills obtained by class XI IPA B students are in the very high category with a percentage of 82.1%. Likewise, the percentage value of critical thinking skills indicators obtained by class XI IPA A students is lower than class XI IPA B students but is still in the high category.

Abstract

This research includes development research (R&D) which aims to produce the development of contextual-based chemical e-modules on buffer solution materials and to determine the quality of the developed e-modules in terms of the level of validity and practicality. A contextual-based chemistry e-module on buffer solution material has been successfully developed. This study used 4-D development model that has reached the develop stage. The subjects in this study were 2 experts for the validity test, 2 chemistry teachers and 60 students of SMAN 1 Sakra for the e-module practicality test. The data taken in this study were obtained from observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The e-module that has been developed is declared very valid by the validator in terms of several aspects of the assessment with an average value of 83.25% and very practical with an average percentage of chemistry teachers and students respectively 91.13% and 87.82%. The results obtained from the study indicate that the contextual-based chemistry e-module on the buffer solution material that has been developed meets the very valid criteria and is very practical for use in the online learning process and face-to-face learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility of using a project-based learning (PjBL) students’ worksheet (LKPD) containing green chemistry about fundamental laws of chemistry, based on the development results in terms of validity and practicality. The green chemistry principles studied in this research are limited to Green Chemistry Principle number 1, namely the Preventive Principle. This type of research is included in research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. The development of LKPD was declared feasible in terms of two aspects, namely validity and practicality, with a percentage result of 61% or higher. The results of the LKPD feasibility test, focusing on the validity aspect, were evaluated by three validators and yielded an average percentage of 81%, meeting very valid criteria. The practicality of the LKPD was seen from activity observations and student response questionnaires, which obtained practical results with an average percentage of 79.3%. Based on these results, the Project-Based Learning (PBL) LKPD, which incorporates green chemistry into the fundamental law, is suitable for use

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the effect of the CINQASE learning model on critical thinking skills and students' conceptual understanding of acid-base titration material at SMAN 6 Mataram. This study is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental method. The population in this study were students of Phase F Class XI SMAN 6 Mataram. The research sample was taken using the cluster random sampling technique and obtained students of class XI 4 as the control class and students of class XI 3 as the experimental class. The research instrument in measuring critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding was in the form of 5 test questions that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the N-Gain values ​​obtained from the experimental class and the control class were analyzed by testing the normality of the N-Gain and homogeneity of the N-Gain first and then testing the hypothesis. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t-test. The results showed that there was an effect of the CINQASE learning model on students' critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding of acid-base titration material with a significance value of t count > t table. Student responses to the CINQASE model also showed positive results. In conclusion, the CINQASE learning model is effectively applied in chemistry learning to improve critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the green chemistry-based chemistry practicum module on chemical equilibrium material to increase student interest in learning. The research uses the R&D (Research and Development) 4-D model modified into three steps (3-D), namely Define, Design, Develop. This design was modified into three steps due to the limitations of the researcher to carry out the fourth stage of Disseminate. The results of the validity assessment by a validator consisting of two chemistry education lecturers based on the Aiken'V index of 0.77 (valid or feasible). The practical assessment of the chemistry practicum module by the class XI chemistry teacher was tested practically with a percentage of 92.67% (very practical) and received a good response from students in class XI MIPA 2 with an average percentage of 88.15% (very practical). The results of the effectiveness of the practicum module are taken from student interest in learning data, based on the learning interest category index, the average value is 4.22 (effective). The results of the study indicate that the green chemistry-based chemistry practicum module on the chemical equilibrium material developed is feasible, practical and effective to increase student interest in learning

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in chemistry learning outcomes in blended learning using Edmodo media with Whatsapp class X students on electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions. This research is a Quasi Experimental Design research (quasi-experiment). The research design used in this study was a Quasi Experimental Design, namely the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Sample selection using purposive sampling technique. The research sample is experimental class I (X IPA 1) which applies blended learning using Edmodo media and experimental class II (X IPA 2) which applies blended learning using whatsapp media. The data collection technique used is a test instrument for understanding concepts (pretest and posttest) in the form of multiplechoice questions. Test the hypothesis in this study using the t-test. The results of the statistical test t-test tcount at a significant level of 5% shows tcount (2.43) > ttable (1,669) which means Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This shows that there is a significant difference in blended learning between using edmodo and whatsapp media in improving chemistry learning outcomes, where blended learning using Edmodo media is better in improving students' chemistry learning outcomes
