Abstract

This study examines the comparative causal analysis of the deconstruction of the hisab-rukyat method in determining the beginning of the Hijri month. The method used in this study is (library research) to integrate theories and empirical findings related to comparative causal research with a descriptive qualitative type using a phenomenological research approach. Data collected through literature studies were analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation and conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the preference for the hisab or rukyat method is not merely a matter of scientific technicality, but is influenced by the institutional history, religious authority, and ideological views of each group, such as Nahdlatul Ulama which prioritizes rukyat and Muhammadiyah which prioritizes hisab. This difference also has an impact on the social dynamics of the community, ranging from tolerance, potential conflict, to reconciliation efforts. This study emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in understanding religious practices, as well as the need for open dialogue between Islamic organizations to build understanding.

Abstract

Science literacy is an essential aspect in assessing the extent to which students can understand, apply, and evaluate science concepts in everyday life, so analyzing this ability is necessary to determine the level of readiness of students in facing the challenges of the 21st century. The purpose of this study is to determine the science literacy skills of learners, identify factors that affect the science literacy skills of learners, and recommend strategies to improve the science literacy skills. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. The study population included all ninth-grade students of SMPN 52 Makassar, totaling 244 students. The research sample comprised 68 people, who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis. The results showed that students' science literacy skills were classified as “Very Low”, while the attitude aspects of students were classified as “High”. Factors influencing students' science literacy skills are also classified as “High”. The recommended strategy to improve science literacy skills is to use a variety of learning models or media so that students do not feel bored.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes of students before and after the use of puzzle media and to evaluate its effectiveness in thematic learning on Theme 3 “Caring for Living Beings,” Subtheme 1 “Animals and Plants in My Home Environment,” among fourth-grade students at SD Inpres Samata. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes, each comprising 22 students. Data collection instruments included learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest) and documentation. The analysis results indicated a significant improvement in learning outcomes following the use of puzzle media, with an average N-Gain of 74.22% (high category) compared to 30.82% (low category) before the intervention. These findings suggest that puzzle media is reasonably effective in enhancing student learning outcomes. The implications of this study include increased student motivation, valuable input for school-based learning evaluations, and practical insights for researchers. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah diterapkannya media puzzle serta keefektifannya pada pembelajaran tematik tema 3 “Peduli terhadap Makhluk Hidup” subtema 1 “Hewan dan Tumbuhan di Lingkungan Rumahku” pada siswa kelas IV SD Inpres Samata. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan desain Quasi Experimental tipe Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, masing-masing 22 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes hasil belajar (pretest dan posttest) dan dokumentasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan peningkatan hasil belajar yang signifikan setelah penggunaan media puzzle, dengan rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 74,22% (kategori tinggi), dibandingkan 30,82% (kategori rendah) sebelum penggunaan media. Hal ini menggambarkan bahwa media puzzle cukup efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Implikasi penelitian ini mencakup peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa, bahan evaluasi pembelajaran bagi sekolah, dan wawasan langsung bagi peneliti.
