Abstract

Abstract

The main difficulty in learning forward rolls in elementary school gymnastics often lies in incorrect head and neck positioning, which prevents rotation and increases the risk of injury. This study aims to examine the effect of using plastic straws as a learning aid to improve students' forward roll skills. The method used is a quasi-experiment (pre-experiment) with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 30 fifth-grade students at MI Islamiyah Tulungagung who were given treatment during six meetings with the help of plastic straws placed between the chin and chest as an indicator of head position. Skill data were assessed through an observation test covering initial attitude, process, and final attitude aspects, then analyzed using a paired sample t-test and Cohen's d effect size calculation. The results showed an average skill improvement from 60.13 (pretest) to 70.83 (posttest), with a significant difference (p = 0.001). The effect size was categorized as moderate (d = 0.65). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that plastic straws are effective and have a significant influence in improving students' forward roll skills, particularly through improving head position during rotation. This medium is recommended as a simple, inexpensive, and direct feedback-based learning alternative for physical education teachers in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the paired training method using a rubber ball on the underhand passing skills in volleyball in 5th grade students of Tanjungharjo Elementary School. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, where students are given training in underhand passing using a rubber ball and their abilities are measured before and after treatment through a 60-second performance test. This study used a sample of 15 fifth grade students. The results showed a significant increase in underhand passing skills, with an average value increasing from 20.27 to 32.87. Based on the normality test, the data were normally distributed (p>0.05) so that data analysis was carried out using the parametric statistical analysis. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired sample T-Test, which produced a significance value (p-value) of 0.000 (<0.05) so that the null hypothesis was rejected and a significant effect was proven. The rubber ball media provides a sense of security and comfort for students, thereby increasing their courage to practice, while the paired training method strengthens the formation of motor memory through systematic repetition of movements. In conclusion, the use of rubber balls with the pair training method significantly improves students' underhand passing skills and is recommended as an effective learning approach in elementary schools.

Abstract

Study purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of drill training methods on improving basic soccer passing skills in elementary school students. Materials and Methods. The research method used a quantitative experimental approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research sample consisted of 15 students selected through purposive participant selection. Drill training was conducted once a week, lasting 45 minutes per session, for six consecutive weeks. Data collection consisted of a passing skills test covering aspects of technique, accuracy, and consistency. Results. The results showed a significant improvement in basic soccer passing skills after drill training. The average pretest score of 69.60 increased to 88.00 in the posttest. A paired sample t-test yielded a calculated t value of 15.05 with p = 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the results before and after treatment. This improvement indicates that repeated and structured drill training is effective in improving basic passing skills. Conclusions. The drill training method has a positive and significant effect on improving basic soccer passing skills in elementary school students. This method can be used as an effective alternative learning strategy in physical education.

Abstract

Background: By integrating interesting and interactive visualisations, digital comics are expected to help students to better understand the concept of athletic techniques and increase their interest in participating in lessons. This approach provides a solution to the challenges in learning basic athletics, which are often considered boring and difficult to understand by students. Research Objective: This research aims to develop digital comics as a learning tool in physical education to improve students’ understanding and basic athletic skills. Through interactive visual media, it is hoped that students will be more motivated and better understand the concepts. Method: This research uses the ADDIE method, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.  The respondents of this study are class IV students at MI Plus Al-Fatimah Bojonegoro, totalling 42 students, consisting of 18 boys and 24 girls. The digital athletic comic was validated by 3 experts consisting of 1 media expert, 1 content expert, and 1 athletic practitioner. The results obtained were then analysed using the content validity index and content validity ratio. Finding/Result: The validation results by 3 experts that have been analysed show that the content validity index obtained an average score of 4.45, and the content validity ratio analysis showed an average score of 4.47. This shows that the digital comic model developed is very appropriate and relevant and meets the quality standards needed to increase student understanding and motivation in learning basic athletics. Conclusion: Digital comics have been shown to be effective as a learning tool to increase students' understanding, participation and motivation in basic athletics. For future research, it is recommended that the application of digital comics be extended to other subjects by involving larger groups. In addition, further research could examine the long-term impact of using digital comics on students’ academic achievement and motor skills.
