Abstract

The community service activity was carried out in Margosuko Village, Bancar District, Tuban Regency aims to improve the soft skills and hard skills of farmers group to reduce environmental pollution caused by poorly managed livestock waste. Livestock waste will be processed into solid and liquid organic fertilizers, so it will reduce the dependence on chemical fertilizers through the initiation of independent organic fertilizer production from livestock waste. The implementation method begins with participatory preparation (coordination of farmer groups, preparation of Local Microorganisms (MOL) from mimosa roots, and provision of a compost reactor). The activity then continued with blended learning training for 20 farmers with theoretical material on the impact of waste and simultaneous fermentation practices for 2 weeks. The next stage is 2 months of intensive mentoring to solve technical problems in the field. The successful of the program has seen from the increase in the level of empowerment in managing livestock waste. The indicators used are the level of knowledge and the amount of livestock waste that can be managed. The evaluation results show that there has been an increase level of knowledge regarding cattle farm waste management as seen from the average pretest score which was initially 60.1 to 87.55 in the posttest. Meanwhile, the amount of livestock waste that has been successfully processed on to organic fertilizer is around 30%.

Abstract

Kombucha merupakan salah satu produk minuman yang dihasilkan melalui proses fermentasi. Fermentasi kombucha melibatkan penggunaan SCOBY yang mengandung bakteri dan ragi. Kombucha awalnya dikembangkan dengan fermentasi terhadap daun teh dan diketahui memiliki banyak manfaat Kesehatan salah satunya sebagai antioksidan. Saat ini eksplorasi terhadap bahan dalam pembuatan kombucha terus dikembangkan. Salah satu bahan potensi dalam pengembangan produk kombucha adalah sabut siwalan. Sabut siwalan merupakan salah satu limbah agroindustri yang keberadaannya cukup melimpah dengan pemanfaatan yang masih belum optimal. Sabut siwalan diketahui memiliki beberapa kandungan bioaktif, sehingga potensial untuk dikembangkan sebagai bahan pembuatan kombucha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi karakter sensoris dan aktivitas antioksidan dari kombucha sabut siwalan. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini adalah lama waktu fermentasi yang terdiri dari 7, 10, dan 14 hari dengan ulangan sejumlah 6. Evaluasi karakter sensori dilakukan dengan uji organoleptik yang melibatkan 15 responden agak terlatih. Sedangkan aktivitas antioksidan diuji dengan metode DPPH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lama waktu fermentasi berpengaruh terhadap karakter aroma, rasa, dan aktivitas antioksidan, akan tetapi tidak berpengaruh terhadap karakter warna. Waktu fermentasi 10 hari menghasilkan rerata skor tertinggi dalam parameter warna dan rasa, sedangkan skor tertinggi parameter aroma adalah waktu 7 hari fermentasi. Sementara aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh kombucha sabut siwalan yang difermentasi selama 14 hari.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the characterization of the rhizosphere bacteria of the roots of Mimosa pudica in its contribution as a decomposer agent that will be used in making of biourine. The research held in June-August 2023, was carried out in several stages, like the preparation stage, the bacterial isolation stage, and observing the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the bacteria. The results of the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics obtained during the observations showed that the isolates in the MOL of the roots of Mimosa pudica resembled the characteristics of bacteria from the genera Bacillus (MAP6), Rhizobium (MAP4), Pseudomonas (MAP1, MAP2, MAP3, MAP5, and MAP8), and Klebsiella (MAP7). These four genera are types of soil bacteria that are capable of producing plant hormones that can speed up the process of nutrients absorption and breakdown of organic material in the soil optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to explore rhizosphere bacteria from Mimosa pudica L. as a source of antagonistic bacteria against Fusarium spp. Rhizosphere soil samples were collected, isolated, morphologically characterized, and tested for antifungal activity in vitro against Fusarium spp. The percentage of inhibition (PI) was calculated after 7 days. Six bacterial isolates were obtained and tentatively identified as Bacillus, Cellulomonas, Arthrobacter, and Micrococcus species. All isolates exhibited antagonistic activity against Fusarium spp., with inhibition percentages ranging from 61.99% to 81.83%. Isolate PM2 (tentatively identified as Cellulomonas) demonstrated the strongest inhibition at 81.83%, followed by isolate PM6 (tentatively identified as Micrococcus) at 79.25%. These results confirm the potential of Mimosa pudica L. as a source of biocontrol agents and warrant further investigation into their molecular identification, mechanisms of action, and in vivo efficacy.

Abstract

Kombucha is a fermented probiotic drink made from sugar with the help of Symbiotic Consortium of Bacteria and Yeast (SCOBY). This study aims to determine the phytochemical profile and antibacterial activity of kombucha of Palmyra palm mesocarp (Borassus flabellifer) against Propionibacterium acnes, the main cause of skin acne. The research method used a complete randomised design (CRD) with 7 and 14 days of fermentation. Phytochemical test was conducted qualitatively to identify flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloid compounds. Meanwhile, the disc diffusion method was used to test the antibacterial activity of Palmyra palm mesocarp kombucha against P. acnes. The results showed that Palmyra palm mesocarp kombucha contained all the phytochemical compounds tested, with flavonoids only detected at 14 days fermentation and the alkaloid content was higher at 14 days fermentation. The highest antibacterial activity was obtained in 14-day fermented kombucha with an average inhibition zone diameter of 36.9 mm and categorized as very strong, equivalent to the positive control in the form of chloramphenicol. The flavonoid and alkaloid contents is thought to play a role in inhibiting bacterial growth. Thus, kombucha of Palmyra palm mesocarp has the potential as a natural antibacterial agent in the treatment of acne caused by P. acnes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the manufacturing process and the quality of liquid organic fertilizer made from vegetable waste from Pasar Baru, Tuban Regency. Liquid organic fertilizer is done as a solution to the amount of vegetable waste which is the most waste produced by Pasar Baru in Tuban Regency with the amount reaching 2 tons / day. This large amount of vegetable waste will cause environmental problems if not handled and treated properly. The method used in making liquid organic fertilizer is semi anaerobic fermentation using drum composter with the addition of EM-4 bioactivator. The quality of liquid organic fertilizer will be seen based on the physical properties and the results of the analysis of macro nutrient content and adjusted to SNI determined by Permentan No. 70 Th. 2011. The results of the analysis showed that physical properties pH and temperature are fullfill the standard of SNI Permentan No.70 Th. 2011. But for the content of macro elements of C-organic, N, P, and K total are not fullfill the standard.

Abstract

This study employs the Hungarian Algorithm to optimize the sandblasting project scheduling at PT. Prima Saka Engineering. Five workers (P1-P5) with different specializations were assigned five tasks: surface preparation (T1), exterior sandblasting (T2), interior sandblasting (T3), primer application (T4), and final quality inspection (T5). The goal was to reduce overall completion time, with each worker being assigned to only one task. The methodical steps comprised matrix building, reduction, and optimality testing. The Hungarian Algorithm generated an optimal assignment with a minimal total time of 1,128 hours, saving 222 hours (16.4%) compared to the previous 1,350-hour method. This study demonstrates that the Hungarian Algorithm provides a mathematically optimal and practically applicable framework for strategic resource allocation and project management.
