Abstract

The learning process in high schools in West Papua tends to focus on students? cognitive enhancement and ignore the aspect skill. School is the frontline to develop students? skills. Metacognitive and process skills are the two skills needed by the students, and both should be trained and developed. These two skills help students to implement an investigation process in which the investigation process can be well utilized using inquiry-based learning. This study aims to find out the differences in metacognitive and process skills between students treated with inquiry-based learning and those who are taught using conventional learning. This experimental study was carried out at Grade X of senior high school students of SMA Negeri 1 Manokwari. The result reveals a significant metacognitive skill of 0.000 < ? 0.05, and science process skill of 0.001 < ? 0.05 of students who were taught using the inquiry-based learning more than those who were taught using the conventional learning. It can be concluded that there is a significant improvement in students? metacognitive and process skills for those who are taught using inquiry-based learning compared to those who are taught using conventional learning. Therefore, inquiry-based learning has the potential to appropriately train students? metacognitive and science process skill.

Abstract

Human being evolution development, firstly started by many postulates and develop through Darwin evolution theory. The next development pointed out by focil findings and finaly shape human being evolution tree. Moleculer genetics development revealed how evolution concept develope. Firstly, evolution was a simple human being changing to be a complex human being. Through molecular genetics findings, evolution was genetic changing from human life to adaptive situation. The definition of evolution tree was not based on morfologys . But based on DNA analysis, namely tRNA and rRNA. Learning evolution theory at school need critical analysis in relation with development of material and sciens. It is needed spesific curriculum about human being origin.

Abstract

One of the problems of the fishing community of milkfish (Chanos chanos) Mootinelo Village, North Gorontalo District was the selling price of fish is cheap. That was because the milkfish has many thorns so that less favored communities. However, milkfish has a high excess nutrients especially unsaturated fatty acids omega-3 (ω3) reached 14.2 and a protein content of 20. In relation with it, this activity aims to increase the sale value of milkfish through training activities thorn fish and diversified products. The method used was the training activities thorn fish, dan accompaniment of activities to pull out the fish milk spines to produce diversification products, followed by mentoring partner groups, especially women and households, as well as the surrounding communities who have the desire to entrepreneurship. The activities were practiced partner groups thorn fish suit the morphology and position structure thorns fish. The result was a fish without spines can be sold to consumers or processed into products, such as nuggets, meatballs, krispy milkfish, and a traditional menu of Gorontalo fish area such as rica-rica and woku fish. The conclusion is milkfish without spines have a profitable business opportunity with the increase in the selling price of milkfish without spines. It can increase the income of fishing communities in the fish ponds in the Mootinelo Village, North Gorontalo District.

Abstract

Jenis Miskonsepsi Genetika yang Ditemukan pada Buku Ajar di Sekolah Menengah Atas Abstract: The study aims to reveal the types of misconceptions genetics in high school class XII textbook.  The Textbooks which analyzed is as many as 12 books published in 2007-2010. The analysis was conducted from Mei – October 2010. The research step is to identify the genetic misconceptions page by page and chapter by chapter. The results shows genetic misconceptions found in 7 or entire groups of the concept of the meaning and scope of genetics; genes, DNA and chromosomes; the relationship of genes, RNA, polypeptides, and the process of protein synthesis; linkages between mitotic and meiotic process by inheritance; principles and mechanisms of heredity inheritance; sex determination; and mutations. This is affected with the presentation of information used is the historial version, and classical genetic material still less representative (molecular). Presentation of the concept of genetics does not connect between concepts so that students' understanding  is fragmented. Teachers need to make a selection according to the standard textbook content of the material. Keywords: misconceptions, genetics, high school textbooks, the selection of books Abstrak: Penelitian  bertujuan  mengungkap jenis miskonsepsi   genetika pada buku ajar SMA kelas XII. Buku ajar dianalisis sebanyak 12 buku tahun terbit  2007-2010. Analisis dilakukan mulai Mei-Oktober 2010. Guru perlu melakukan seleksi buku ajar sesuai standar isi materi. Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, genetika, buku ajar SMA, seleksi buku
