Abstract

Mycelium adalah sumber alami dan terbarukan kaya akan polimer struktural berharga, seperti chitin dan chitosan. Chitin merupakan makromolekul linier yang terdiri dari unit N-acetylglucosamin. Kuat tarik chitin tergolong sangat kuat, berkisar 1,5-3 GPa dihasilkan oleh tingginya momen dipol dan ikatan hidrogen antar rantai makromolekul. Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) mengandung nutrisi kimia potensial untuk pertumbuhan Mycelium seperti: silika, kalium, kalsium, klor, magnesium dan pospat yang cukup tinggi sehingga cocok dan memiliki lignin dan selulosa tinggi sebagai bahan sintesis chitin yang oleh mycelium fungi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa spora fungi akan berkecambah menjadi mycelium dapat memperbaiki keretakan pada struktur beton. Hifa mycelium yang tumbuh dengan cepat dapat menjadi penambah kekuatan suatu struktur pada saat keretakan. Mycelium fungi juga dapat memiliki keungggulan dalam hal ketahanan terhadap suhu tinggi. Densitas mycelium optimum pada beton juga akan meningkatkan kekuatan material.

Abstract

Plastik termasuk limbah anorganik bersifat non-biodegradable atau sulit terurai di alam. Berdasarkan data Sustainable Waste Indonesia hanya sekitar 7% yang dapat didaur ulang, sedangkan sisanya menumpuk di tempat pembuangan akhir. Penelitian mengenai beton agregat plastik ini telah berkembang dalam beberapa tahun terakhir misalnya fokus-fokus penelitian plastik sebagai agregat, serat dan bahan pengisi (filler). Kajian ini dilakukan untuk mempelajari karakteristik dan potensi beton ringan agregat plastik sebagai bahan sekat kanal di lingkungan gambut. Sekat kanal pada lahan gambut diperlukan untuk mengatasi kebakaran hutan khususnya lahan gambut yang rawan terjadi saat musim kemarau. Sekat kanal umumnya tidak terbuat dari beton konvensional karena biayanya cukup tinggi, berat volume besar dan porositas mengalami peningkatan apabila berada dalam air gambut dalam jangka waktu panjang. Limbah plastik sudah mulai banyak digunakan sebagai material beton ringan karena dapat meningkatkan kuat lentur, menurunkan porositas dan permeabilitas, mencegah terjadinya keretakan, serta tahan terhadap serangan kimia. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa beton ringan agregat plastik dengan keunggulan sifat mekanik dan durabilitas yang tahan di lingkungan agresif berpotensi digunakan sebagai sekat kanal di lahan gambut karena efisien dan ramah lingkungan

Abstract

Mapping village potential is an important aspect of sustainable rural development. It allows village governments and communities to optimize resource management and improve community welfare. In general, community service activities are designed into three stages, namely preparation, activity implementation, and evaluation and aim to conduct comprehensive village potential mapping. The community service activities involve active participation of the community and village officials in Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to identify, document, and map all aspects of village potential. This method aims to empower village communities in regional development by producing comprehensive data on existing village potential. The resulting village potential map becomes an invaluable tool for village governments in sustainable development planning and village asset management. Through this village potential mapping, Aur Sati Village is expected to optimize its opportunities to improve community welfare and develop its regional characteristics, including tourism, agriculture, and fisheries potential.

Abstract

Concrete is a common building material and is very vulnerable to cracking caused by unstable temperature/humidity. Concrete crack repair can be done by using microorganism substitution that can produce CaCO3 (calcite) compounds that can be used as an environmentally friendly method in improving structural formation and increasing the strength and durability of concrete, one of which is using ureolytic bacteria. This study aimed to isolate and characterize ureolytic bacteria isolates and then to assess the calcite precipitation potential of ureolytic bacteria isolates from landfills. The ureolytic bacterial isolates were grown on NB-U/Ca and tap water medium. Analysis of Calcite Structure using Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), and molecular identification using 16S rRNA gene sequences. Bacterial isolate SP. 48 were able to grow and produce calcite in both media, especially in tap water medium. FTIR results showed that the precipitates produced by bacterial isolates on both mediums had strong absorption peaks, which were detected to be calcite. Molecular identification using the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that the isolate is Bacillus albus. B. albus is a proteolytic bacterium collected from landfills that was proven to be a calcite-producing bacterium, a new finding in this study. B. albus can grow and produce calcite in a tap water medium with low pH. This finding can be used as an alternative to overcome concrete cracks and increase the strength and durability of concrete. This bacterial isolate could be developed as a biocement candidate.

Abstract

Masyarakat Desa Aursati, Kecamatan Tambang, menghadapi keterbatasan dalam mengelola potensi sumber daya lokal yang melimpah, seperti kayu dan cangkang biji karet, sehingga belum mampu memberikan nilai tambah secara ekonomi. Kurangnya keterampilan pengolahan bahan serta belum adanya produk khas daerah menjadi salah satu kendala dalam mendukung sektor pariwisata, khususnya di kawasan Danau Bokuok yang sedang dikembangkan sebagai destinasi wisata desa. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat melalui diversifikasi produk lokal menjadi gantungan kunci kreatif berbahan dasar kayu karet, guna mendukung penguatan daya tarik wisata lokal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dan model Participatory Action Research (PAR), meliputi perencanaan, pelatihan, dan implementasi melalui observasi lapangan, sosialisasi, pengenalan bahan baku, pelatihan teknis pembuatan produk gantungan kunci, serta penggunaan alat bahan dan pendampingan. Hasil observasi menunjukkan ketersediaan bahan baku yang melimpah, namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Melalui pelatihan, peserta yang terdiri dari kelompok ibu-ibu PKK berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan teknis, menghasilkan produk bernilai jual dan mengemasnya secara menarik. Tingginya antusiasme dan komitmen peserta untuk mengembangkan usaha ini menunjukkan bahwa program berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas ekonomi masyarakat sekaligus memperkaya ragam produk cinderamata lokal. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan berbasis potensi lokal mendukung pengembangan wisata dan ekonomi kreatif desa.

Abstract

This study compares the effects of peat water and normal water as mixing and curing water on the properties of crumb rubber and rice husk ash concrete (CR-RHA). The number of crumb rubber and rice husk ash used on the concrete followed the optimum mixture from a previous study, which was 5% and 10%, respectively. The crumb rubber was treated to overcome the lack of adhesion by soaking it in water for 24 hours. Normal concrete (PCC) was also cast as a control. CR-RHA and PCC concrete were mixed and cured using normal and peat water. Compressive strength, tensile strength, and porosity were tested at 3, 7, 14, 28, and 56 days. In general, CR-RHA concrete and PCC concrete showed lower performance when mixed and cured with peat water compared to normal water. Peat water with high acidity decreased the calcium content and developed the amount of pores in concrete, resulting in strength reduction. However, due to the excess pozzolan from rice husk ash, CR-RHA concrete had better resistance as the strength loss was relatively smaller, respectively 11.4% at 28 days and 10.6% at 56 days. Furthermore, CR-RHA concrete showed lower porosity, higher compressive strength, and tensile strength than PCC concrete due to rice husk ash that improved concrete density by generating CSH and crumb rubber that prevented concrete from spalling in an acidic environment. It was also found that compared to the previous study, pre-treated crumb rubber exhibited better mechanical and durability of concrete.

Abstract

The Edu-Eco-School Program was implemented as a community service activity at SMPS Khazanah Boarding School, Pujud District, with the aim of optimizing school land through the cultivation of food crops and vegetables supported by a water-efficient irrigation system. This program is significant as it aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger and Climate Action, which emphasize food security and water resource conservation in education. The implementation stages included land condition surveys, the design and construction of a bore well and PVC pipe network as an irrigation system for plant watering, agricultural training, and mentoring up to the harvesting stage. The program successfully transformed underutilized land into a productive garden with various commodities, such as chili, tomato, corn, and vegetables. The harvest not only met the school’s basic needs but also served as a contextual learning medium for students to practice sustainable agriculture. Overall, this program enhanced school community engagement, improved water-use efficiency, and created a productive green area that supports local food security while strengthening environmental education.

Abstract

The aggressive environment, especially the peat environment contains many chemicals that can unravel the elements in the concrete, causing damage to the concrete. This study examines the strength and physical properties of OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) concrete and OPC RHA (Rice Husk Ash) concrete exposed in peat environments. RHA as one of pozzolan with high silica is used as a replacement of cement with the substitution of 5% and 10%. This concrete are tested mechanically and physically such as compressive strength and porosity tests after soaking in peat canals for 28 days, in addition to fresh concrete tests such as workability. The concrete strength of the planned concrete is K-250. The peat water used as a test immersion medium has a pH of 3.5-4.5. The results of fresh concrete testing show that the addition of RHA makes the workability decreases. The lowest workability was obtained from a mix containing 10% RHA. The OPC concrete has the highest compressive strength of 20,28 MPa. Porosity of OPC RHA concrete decreased with increase in curing time. The lowest porosity is shown by OPC RHA 10% concrete. Based on the results of the test, it is concluded that the replacement of cement by RHA, has a positive effect on all physical properties of concrete.Keywords: Peat Environtment, OPC, RHA, Compressive strength, Physical Properties
