Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) on students’ mathematical literacy skills in the topic of Three-Variable Linear Equation Systems (SPLTV). Mathematical literacy is understood as the ability to formulate, employ, and interpret mathematical concepts in solving contextual problems. The background of this research arises from the low mathematical literacy skills of students at SMK TRIDARMA, as observed through initial observations and the 2024 education report. Many students struggled to identify essential information, apply mathematical procedures correctly, and interpret their solution results logically. Self-regulated learning was implemented to help students take greater responsibility for their learning process through the phases of planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reflection. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two eleventh-grade classes: the experimental class, which was taught using the self-regulated learning model, and the control class, which received direct instruction. Data on students’ mathematical literacy skills were collected through essay tests that had been validated by experts. The data were analyzed using ANCOVA to determine the effect of the treatment after controlling for students’ initial abilities. The results showed a significant difference between the two groups. The obtained F count  of 97.02083 exceeded the F table value of 4.105, indicating that self-regulated learning had a positive and significant effect on students’ mathematical literacy skills. Students in the experimental class demonstrated greater improvement compared to those in the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that Self-Regulated Learning is effective in enhancing students’ mathematical literacy skills on SPLTV material.

Abstract

Mathematics not only functions as a discipline of calculation but also serves as a medium to develop students’ critical and creative thinking skills. This study aims to describe the mathematical creative thinking ability of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kabila on the Pythagorean Theorem material in terms of their mathematical self-concept. The research was conducted in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects consisted of six students selected through purposive sampling, representing high, medium, and low categories of self-concept. Data were collected through mathematical creative thinking tests and interviews, then analyzed based on the indicators of fluency, flexibility, and originality. The results showed that students with a high self-concept fulfilled all indicators and were categorized as highly creative, students with a medium self-concept met only part of the indicators and were categorized as creative to fairly creative, while students with a low self-concept struggled to meet the indicators and were categorized as not creative. These findings emphasize that the higher the students’ mathematical self-concept, the better their mathematical creative thinking ability.

Abstract

Cholera is an infectious disease transmitted through water contaminated with Vibrio cholerae bacteria. This disease remains a public health challenge, especially in areas with poor sanitation. This study developed an SVIQR-B mathematical model to analyze the dynamics of cholera spread, taking into account the effects of quarantine, vaccination, and environmental hygiene education. The analysis was conducted on disease-free and endemic equilibrium points using a local stability approach based on the basic reproduction number (R0). The results showed that when R0 < 1 , the disease would disappear from the population, while R0 > 1 indicated the potential for endemicity. Sensitivity analysis and numerical simulation results indicate that an increase in the transmission rate and a decrease in vaccine effectiveness cause an increase in the value, while an increase in vaccination coverage and the effectiveness of education contribute to a decrease in infection rates. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing integrated medical and educational interventions in efforts to control cholera in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes in the topic of flat-sided solid shapes, specifically cubes and cuboids, through the application of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model combined with Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media. The study used Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model, implemented in two cycles. Observations showed significant improvements in various aspects of learning. Teacher and student activities, initially in the Fair (CB) category, improved to Good (B) and Very Good (SB) categories. In the affective and psychomotor domains, the attitude and skills assessment results showed improvements from Fair (CB) to Good (B) and Very Good (SB). Meanwhile, cognitive learning outcomes obtained through written tests increased from 69.23% to 84.62%, indicating that most students had met the learning objectives. Thus, all assessment aspects had achieved success indicators in cycle II through the implementation of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model assisted by Augmented Reality-based learning media.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research aimed at improving students’ motivation and mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the cooperative learning model, Teams Games Tournament (TGT), on the topic of quadratic equations. The research subjects were 16 ninth-grade students of MTs Al-Mabrur Bone Raya. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and achievement tests. The data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The results indicate that the application of the TGT model enhanced students’ motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. In Cycle I, 75% of students demonstrated high or very high learning motivation, with cognitive learning outcomes at 62.5%, affective at 76%, and psychomotor at 66%. Following improvements in Cycle II, learning motivation increased to 93.75%, cognitive achievement reached 81.25%, and affective and psychomotor scores both rose to 88%. Students also showed greater participation in discussions, increased willingness to ask questions, and improved accuracy in problem-solving. Therefore, the TGT cooperative learning model is effective in enhancing students’ motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics, while also fostering the development of positive skills and attitudes throughout the learning process.

Abstract

The development of digital technology requires innovative teaching materials that are interactive, adaptive, and inclusive, particularly in mathematics learning, which is still dominated by conventional methods and results in low student achievement. This study aimed to develop a mathematics e-module based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with the integration of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles on ratio material for seventh-grade students. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Wonosari during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year using the research and development approach with the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate), involving experts for validation as well as teachers and students for trials. Data were collected through validation sheets, questionnaires, and learning achievement tests, and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the developed e-module met the feasibility criteria with an average of 86.75% (Good category) and was rated very practical with a score of 88% by teachers and students. The limitation of this study lies in its narrow scope; therefore, further research is recommended to involve broader materials and diverse school contexts. This study confirms that the integration of PBL and UDL in e-modules can serve as an innovative alternative to support mathematics learning that is more interactive, contextual, and inclusive.

Abstract

The low level of students’ mathematical problem-solving ability remains a challenge in the learning process, particularly in statistics topics. One effective approach to address this issue is scaffolding, which provides temporary support that helps students understand problems and find solutions independently. However, in classroom settings, individualized scaffolding is often suboptimal due to the large number of students compared to the limited number of teachers and the relatively short instructional time. This study aims to develop a computer-based scaffolding interactive learning medium that is feasible and practical for enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) design using the ADDIE model, consisting of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The media were developed using Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint, and iSpring Suite, and published via GitHub Pages for online accessibility. The validation results showed a feasibility score of 91.11% from material experts and 93.33% from media experts, both categorized as excellent. The practicality tests conducted by teachers and students each obtained a score of 92%, indicating that the media are easy to use and effective in facilitating learning. Therefore, the interactive learning media “Stafolding” are considered feasible and practical to be used as a computer-based scaffolding tool in mathematics learning.
