Abstract

Hypertension remained a major global health issue that had not been fully addressed, causing 10.8 million deaths and serving as the leading risk factor for mortality worldwide. A sedentary lifestyle was a significant contributor to hypertension among the productive age group. It had been shown that a sedentary lifestyle decreased Nitric Oxide (NO) levels, cardiac output, and systemic blood flow, which altered blood vessel diameter, reduced insulin sensitivity, and impaired vascular function. These factors negatively impacted cardiovascular health, including the development of hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension among university educators was higher compared to other educational institutions, primarily due to lower physical activity levels and greater career pressures. Therefore, the objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and the incidence of hypertension in productive ages among educators and educational staff in Jember. This research was a quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The population of the study consisted of 2,531 educators and educational staff in Jember. A sample of 106 respondents was selected through simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted through interviews and the use of a Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Both bivariate and multivariate analyses employed binary logistic regression. The results of the bivariate analysis showed significant associations between hypertension and characteristics such as age, family history of hypertension, smoking, Body Mass Index (BMI), and sedentary lifestyle (p-value < 0.05). However, gender was not significantly associated with hypertension (p-value > 0.05). The multivariate analysis confirmed that a sedentary lifestyle was the most dominant determinant of hypertension.

Abstract

Introduction: Mothers have a role in caring for and fulfilling toddler nutrition which is very important to prevent stunting in toddlers. Mothers’ skills in carrying out their roles are influenced by mothers’  knowledge through health literacy, namely the capability to access, assess, and process health information. Prevalence of stunting in East Java was 26.8% in 2019, exceeding the limit set by WHO. Jember is the second area contributing to the largest prevalence of stunting in East Java. Aims: This study aimed to analyze the relationship of mothers’ health literacy with stunting incidence of toddlers. Methods: This study used a case control design. The respondents were mothers with stunting toddlers (n=51) and mothers with non-stunted toddlers (n=51). The secondary data sources were the stunting data of the Kalisat Primary Healthcare in February 2022 and the primary data sources were the results of interviews used the HLS-EU-16 Indonesia Questionnaire. Data analysis used chi-square test. Results: There was a relationship between mothers’ health literacy and  stunting incidence of toddlers with a p-value of  0.001 (p-value < 0.05 so that the two variables have a significant relationship. Conclusion: Mothers’ health literacy has a strong association with stunting incidence of toddlers.

Abstract

contributing to the global burden of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and other metabolic complications. This bibliometric study aims to analyze trends, thematic focuses, and collaborations in scientific publications related to insulin resistance in adult obesity, utilizing data from the Scopus database covering the period from 2019 to 2025. Bibliometric tools such as RStudio, Biblioshiny, and VoS Viewer were employed to extract and visualize findings from 8,037 publications. The results reveal that research activity peaked in 2021, followed by a decline in subsequent years. Dominant keywords, such as "insulin resistance," "obesity," and "metabolic syndrome," highlight the clinical and metabolic focus of current research. Biomolecular markers, such as "glycated hemoglobin" and the "triglyceride-glucose index," reflect a growing interest in more precise diagnostic tools. The United States, China, and Italy emerged as major contributors, with journals like Nutrients and Frontiers in Endocrinology leading in publications. Despite significant progress, there remains a considerable gap, particularly in exploring the role of epigenetics and the microbiota in insulin resistance. Additionally, cross-disciplinary collaboration and participation from institutions in developing countries remain limited. This study emphasizes the importance of global, interdisciplinary efforts to address these gaps and drive innovation in interventions, providing a foundation for future research aimed at reducing the impact of insulin resistance in adult obesity.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Bullying is still a critical problem in Indonesia, especially in schools, where many unreported cases are also found, which then have a broad impact on children's welfare. Therefore, this community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of the target audience regarding bullying incidents in children and prevent bullying from occurring early on. Methods: This community service utilized a participatory approach at Selolembu State Elementary School, Bondowoso (June–August 2023), involving school staff, parents, and students to prevent bullying. The stages included initial observations, problem mapping, participatory assistance via focus group discussions, workshops on bullying prevention and parenting, establishing anti-bullying student cadres, and ongoing evaluations to measure the program's effectiveness. Results: Parents and teachers are critical in preventing bullying at school. Teachers play a role in increasing awareness, providing character education, and monitoring the school environment to prevent bullying incidents. They also participate in the development of anti-bullying policies and reporting systems. Parents play an active role in monitoring children's behaviour at home, especially regarding the use of technology, as well as being involved in school activities and policy-making. Collaboration between teachers and parents is essential to create a school environment that is safe and free from bullying. Conclusion:  The conclusion from the implementation of this activity is the need to monitor and strengthen the commitments set by the target audience so that program sustainability can be maintained.
