Abstract

The objective of this social engagement project is to design the developing of O Diadaq O Dibiasa text as material in reading comprehension activities to students of Madrasah Aliyah and Islamic Boarding School in West Sulawesi. Beside that mayor objectives, there are also some specific objectives such as to outline the integration of Islamic and local values in O Diadaq O Dibiasa text; and to see the improvement of students’ knowledge related to the integration of Islamic and local values after reading O Diadaq O Dibiasa text.This project was conducted through Whatsapp, Zoom and Google Meet application remembering the situation of Covid-19 pandemic. It was held on February-September including preparation until evaluation. There were five steps in conducting this social engagement. They are visiting libraries, training of trainers, writing module, conduction reading activities (5 meetings), and monitoring & evaluation. The participants were 20 students from Madrasah Aliyah Pergis Campalagian Boarding School of DDI Baruga Majene, Madrasah Aliyah 1 Polewali Mandar and Boarding School of Syekh Hasan Yamani Campalagian Polewali Mandar which are represented by five students.

Abstract

This article investigates a pedagogical interference in promoting creativity in English classroom that describe the importance of creativity in learning process. The article explores the idea of passion-based learning in improving creativity in the classroom specially in English subject. By using secondary data both from journals, books, and internet sites, researcher is able to apply descriptive analysis through literary review methods. Promoting passion-based learning might be a possible way to improve creativity in English Classroom. Passion-based learning could be a solution that give ownership and authority to students to explore their own creativity in the classroom hence give them meaningful learning. Some tangible ways in this article could be applied by English teachers to create passion-based learning in English classroom that can improve the students’ reading, listening, speaking and writing skill and creativity. The emerging challenge found in this study is passion-based learning is difficult to apply in large class since it gives freedom to students choose what they want to learn hence classroom activities will not be feasible to control. Besides, passion- based learning needs creative and skilful teachers to come up with various and interesting ideas to stimulate dynamic in classroom. Therefore, the quality of teacher is highly considered in applying passion-based learning. Teachers should be expert in subjects they teach. Promoting teacher professional development need to be considered to improve creativity in English classroom with given English teachers’ opportunities to explore their potentials.

Abstract

Pelatihan aplikasi Hot Potatoes merupakan salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kerja guru Madrasah Aliyah (MA) DDI Ihyaul Ulum Baruga sebagai mitra dalam mengembangkan kompetensi guru. Peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai penggunaan media pembelajaran interaktif merupakan target khusus dari kegiatan ini. Sedangkan, tujuan jangka panjang dari kegiatan ini adalah diharapkan bagi peserta, dapat mengembangkan keterampilan membuat media pembelajaran interaktif dengan menggunakan Aplikasi Hot Potatoes yang telah diperoleh selama pelatihan. Sejalan dengan itu, kegiatan ini juga dimaksudkan sebagai bentuk dharma bakti dosen Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri (STAIN) Majene kepada masyarakat. kegiatan ini terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu observasi, persiapan, pelaksanaan dan pendampingan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pelatihan ini adalah seluruh peserta dapat membuat Media pembelajaran interaktif menggunakan aplikasi hot potatoes.

Abstract

The development of technology is growing rapidly. This affects several sectors of life. One of them is in the education sector. Teachers are accustomed to use information and communication technology (ICT) tools such as computers and smartphones in learning. Especially in early childhood learning where the use of smartphones can motivate students in learning. Therefore, the researcher used smartphone in learning by using Augmented Reality as a Media. The Augmented reality media is in the form of books. The books are ABC fun with Mickey and 123 counting fun with Mickey. This research used qualitative research. The data were collected by using classroom observation and interview. The obtained data were analyzed in four major namely data collection, data display, data condensation and draw conclusion. Based on the result of observation, the students were active in learning English by using augmented reality media. They were very excited because it was a new experience for them in learning by using this media. Beside that, it was very helpful because the media was interactive and students were able to learn while playing which really supports student learning, especially for young learner. They highly recommend the use of this media because it is very interesting for students

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out whether or not the Augmented Reality Flashcard can enrich the young learners’ vocabulary. This study is a pre-experimental study with a population of RA. Perwanida 1 Lipu for the 2020/2021 academic year, with a total population of 64 young learners. The sample of this study was group 1 from class B RA Perwanida 1 Lipu, consists of 22 young learners. The instrument used in this study was a vocabulary test. The researcher was giving a pre-test and post-test in the form of an objective test, namely multiple choice. This research used descriptive statistics to analyze the data. Descriptive statistics used in this research include summation, average, standard deviation, and frequency table. The results of this study indicate that the use of Augmented Reality teaching media has a positive impact on enriching students' vocabulary. It was proven from the increase in student scores from the pre-test to the post- test with the average value during the pre-test was 3.02 and the average value after the post-test was 6.02. So, it can be concluded that Augmented Reality flashcard media has an effect in increasing the students' vocabulary.

Abstract

The overall aim of this study is to analyze the students’ reading comprehension through story mapping technique. This research is provided to explore how story mapping can enhance students’ ability to organize, understand, and retain information from the text. Therefore, the research applied quasi-experimental design was given to the third-semester students in Business English Program, English Department, UNM. In addition to the pre-test and post-test, qualitative data will be collected through student interviews and classroom observations as the instrument to find out the students’ perception. The findings of the research showed that the experimental group, which used the Story Mapping Technique, experienced a significantly greater improvement in reading comprehension compared to the control group, which followed traditional instructional methods. Moreover, the data from interview and observation showed that the students showed positive attitude and perception towards the use of story map in reading activities.

Abstract

The research problem for this research is how students’ and English teachers’ perception toward the implementation of Merdeka Belajar curriculum. The purpose of this research is to determine the perception of students and English teachers towards the implementation of Merdeka Belajar among vocational high school. The researchers used mixed method to collect data using a questionnaire and interview instrument. The sample of this research were the students of class 10th consist of 30 students and two English teachers of SMK Negeri 1 Majene. The result showed that students’ perception toward the Merdeka Belajar was in the undicedid category with a total of 64.80% and English teachers’ perception toward the implementation of Merdeka Belajar was in the agree category with a total of 79.17%. This indicates that students’ perceptions of Merdeka Belajar are undicedid, while English teachers’ perceptions of Merdeka Belajar are agree. Keywords: Perception, Merdeka Belajar Curriculum

Abstract

Kampung Riso merupakan kampung pelosok yang memiliki kisaran penduduk 2.700, namun pemanfaatan limbah rumah tangga berupa plastik belum banyak diketahui. Padahal plastik merupakan salah satu limbah yang memiliki intensitas buangan yang termasuk tinggi di kawasan kampung ini. Edukasi metode pemanfaatan limbah plastik yang telah diberikan adalah pembuatan media tanam tanaman holtikultura dan pembuatan Ecobrick. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah membangun kepedulian masyarakat terhadap pemanfaatan plastik bekas melalui upaya pelatihan untuk memberikan wawasan keterampilan penggunaan kembali limbah plastik menjadi media tanam sayur sehat dan memberikan praktek pembuatan Ecobrick. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah sosialisasi kegiatan, pelatihan, monitoring dan evaluasi untuk keberlanjutan kegiatan ini pada masyarakat kampung Riso. Dari hasil evaluasi kegiatan diperoleh angka efektifitas kegiatan sebesar sebesar 92,8% sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode tersebut sangat relevan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat dan menjadi keterampilan baru masyarakat dalam upaya daur ulang limbah plastik menjadi media tanam sayuran pada lahan pekarangan rumah untuk meningkatkan stabilitas pangan rumah tangga.

Abstract

Augmented Reality atau AR merupakan teknologi yang menggabungkan digital konten yang dibuat oleh komputer dengan dunia nyata secara realtime. Teknologi ini menggunakan webcam komputer, kamera, bahkan kacamata khusus yang mampu menyisipkan informasi kedalam dunia maya dan memproyeksikan ke dunia nyata.Dalam kegiatan ini, Tim Pengabdi menggunakan Media Augmented Reality sebagai salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru Raudatul Athfal Samasundu sebagai mitra dalam mengembangkan kompetensi guru. Peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai penggunaan teknologi Augmented reality merupakan target khusus dari kegiatan ini. Sedangkan, tujuan jangka panjang dari kegiatan ini adalah diharapkan bagi peserta dapat menggunakan teknologi augmented reality sebagai media pembelajaran.Kegiatan ini dibagi menjadi 4 tahap yaitu observasi, persiapan, pelaksanaan dan pendampingan.  Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah seluruh peserta dapat menggunakan Augmented Reality sebagai media dalam mengajar khususnya dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

In the medical field, communication between nurses and patients is essential since it can influence patients' comprehension of medical situations and adherence to therapy. With an emphasis on the many kinds of illocutionary speech acts and their pragmatic meanings, this study attempts to investigate speech acts utilized in nurse-patient communication. This study employs a qualitative research method and descriptive approach. The study, which was carried out at Daya Hospital in Makassar, revealed the many speech acts—representative, directive, expressive, declarative, and commissive—that nurses and patients employ when communicating. Nurses commonly use directive speech actions when communicating with patients in order to provide care and take action. Patients commonly use expressive speech acts to express all of their feelings, illnesses, and concerns. Appropriate and effective speaking actions can benefit patients and nurses, speed up the healing process, and create a pleasant environment.
