Abstract

This study aims to describe local plant species used as traditional medicine by communities in North Sumatra. The research method employed in-depth interviews with communities in three locations including Karo, Medan and Simalungun. The research results identified 81 species of local medicinal plants from 39 botanical families, with the Zingiberaceae family dominating (13 species, 16.05%), followed by Asteraceae (7 species, 8.64%), Piperaceae and Fabaceae (5 species each, 6.17%). Ginger (Zingiber officinale) was the most commonly used plant across three different locations. The most utilized plant parts were leaves (48.15%), rhizomes (22.22%), and fruits (13.58%). The primary processing methods were boiling (40.7%) and pounding (22.2%). This study demonstrates that North Sumatran communities possess diverse traditional knowledge in utilizing local medicinal plants that needs to be documented and preserved.

Abstract

The goal of the Community Service activity is to enhance the understanding and capacity of parents and teachers in protecting early childhood through comprehensive training activities. This program targets several significant outcomes, including increased knowledge and skills among parents and teachers, particularly regarding child protection issues. The community service activity titled “Empowering Parents and Teachers to Improve Child Protection in Sungai Pinang Village, Hulu Kuantan Subdistrict, Kuantan Singingi Regency” involved parents and teachers. The activity began with a focus group discussion (FGD) as initial preparation before the workshop was conducted. It was followed by a face-to-face workshop with the subjects of the community service. A classical approach was used to deliver material related to improving child protection in Sungai Pinang Village, Hulu Kuantan Subdistrict, Kuantan Singingi Regency. Through this educational activity on child protection for parents and teachers, it is hoped that they will gain a comprehensive understanding of child protection. Consequently, parents will be able to reduce violent behaviors towards children, especially those considered normal in child education. Thus, the rate of child violence is expected to decrease, leading to the development of high-quality children as the future generation of the nation.

Abstract

Project-based learning is one of the methods that supports the quality of education in Indonesia, which is regulated in Law No. 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education. Project-based learning is learning that is charged to students to improve their critical thinking skills, solve problems, find solutions and grow communication skills. This learning is also useful for lecturers as teaching staff to improve their abilities and higher skills. This study aims to determine the level of achievement of the implementation of project-based learning in learning based on department policies. This study uses a mixed approach combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample in this study is students who have experienced the application of the project-based learning model in the Biochemistry course class of 2022 Biology Education Study Program. Data collection uses observation sheets for the implementation of syntax, student perception questionnaires, interview sheets and critical thinking tests (pretest and posttest). The data obtained were analyzed by interactive analysis for qualitative and descriptive statistics of quantitative data using IBM SPSS Statistics 29. Abstrak. Pembelajaran project-based learning merupakan salah satu metode yang mendukung kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia, yang diatur dalam UU No. 12 Tahun 2012 tentang Pendidikan Tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat ketercapaian penerapan project-based learning dalam pembelajaran berdasarkan kebijakan jurusan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan campuran (mixed method) menggabungkan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang telah mengalami penerapan model pembelajaran project-based learning dalam matakuliah Biokimia angkatan 2022 Prodi Pendidikan Biologi. Pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan sintaks, kuisioner persepsi mahasiswa, lembar wawancara dan tes berpikir kritis (pretest dan posttest). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara analisis interaktif untuk kualitatif dan statistic deskriptif data kuantitatif menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistics 29. Hasil penelitian berupa penerapan model pembelajaran proyek (project based learning) pada mata kuliah Biokimia, hasil observasi menunjukkan rata-rata sebesar 82,40% (kategori sangat baik). Ditemukan juga kendala dalam penerapan model ini yaitu, keterbatasan mengelola waktu dan sumber daya yang tersedia untuk proyek tim, minimnya umpan balik, kompleksitas materi serta kurangnya variasi dalam integrasi teknologi.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus adalah kondisi metabolik yang mengganggu pengendalian tubuh terhadap kadar glukosa dari makanan, menyebabkan peningkatan gula darah. Diabetes tipe 2 adalah jenis yang paling umum, terjadi ketika tubuh menjadi resisten terhadap insulin. Dokter dapat memantau glikemik dengan mengukur kadar gula darah sewaktu, kadar gula darah puasa, kadar gula darah dua jam setelah makan, dan HbA1c. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghubungkan kadar HbA1c dengan kadar gula darah sewaktu pada pasien diabetes tipe 2 di Rumah Sakit Pertamina Bintang Amin Husada Bandar Lampung tahun 2023. Studi ini menggunakan metode observasional cross-sectional dengan 89 pasien sebagai sampel. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pasien berusia 56-65 tahun, sebagian besar perempuan, dan memiliki kadar HbA1c berkisar antara 5,7%-6,4%. Analisis menunjukkan hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara kadar HbA1c dan kadar gula darah sewaktu pada pasien diabetes tipe 2.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of teacher competence and religious character on the learning outcomes of students' moral creed in MAN 1 Trenggalek. A quantitative approach is used with the survey method, which is conducted retrospectively to examine the variable construction of learning outcomes of moral creed students. This research design uses explanatory and correlational approaches with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) as an analytical tool. This study involved 98 MAN 1 Trenggalek students as samples, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires with four variables: Teacher Competence (X1), Religious Character (X2), Islamic Extracurricular as a mediator (Z), and Learning Achievement in Islamic Education (Y). Data collection is done through Google Forms. Data analysis using PLS-SEM, with testing stages of measurement and structural models. Measurement model testing aims to validate and estimate the reliability of indicators and constructs. The results show that all indicators meet the requirements of validity and reliability. Structural model evaluation aims to assess model predictions against empirical data and the predictive power of the model. The results show that teacher competence and religious character significantly impact the learning outcomes of students' moral creeds. Religious extracurriculars mediate the relationship between teacher competence and moral creed learning outcomes. This study concludes that teacher competence and religious character contribute significantly to the learning outcomes of students' moral creeds. This research contributes to the development of educational theory by highlighting the relationship between teacher competence, religious character, and student learning achievement, as well as the mediating role of Islamic extracurricular activities. This research concludes that teacher competence and student religious character have a positive influence on student learning achievement.

Abstract

Kesehatan masih menjadi masalah yang memprihatinkan di seluruh dunia. Hal ini juga didukung dengan respon berupa upaya mewujudkan pembangunan skala besar di bidang kesehatan dengan target pencapaiannya pada tahun 2030 yaitu Sustainable Development Goals, menjamin kehidupan yang sehat. Indonesia merupakan negara yang masih mengalami permasalahan lingkungan yang krusial, khususnya sampah. Salah satunya adalah limbah organik kulit buah nanas ( Ananas comosus L.). Penambahan ekstrak lemon ( Citrus limonL.) yang diformulasikan akan memberikan aromaterapi alami dan memberikan efek perasaan tenang. Di sisi lain, pengembangan sabun kertas merupakan inovasi efisiensi dan kemampuan untuk menciptakan kebiasaan mencuci tangan di masyarakat Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pembuatan sabun kertas dengan bahan alami yaitu limbah lemon dan nanas serta mengetahui bioaktivitas kombinasi tersebut sebagai antiseptik sabun kertas. Metode penelitian ini merupakan metode eksperimen dengan menguji aktivitas antimikroba yang dilakukan dengan metode difusi paper disc technique. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa sabun kertas yang terbuat dari bahan alami kulit lemon dan nanas dapat direalisasikan dan memiliki efek antiseptik dengan zona hambat total rata-rata terhadap S. aureus.bakteri sebesar 5,7 mm dan terhadap bakteri E. coli sebesar 20 mm sehingga sabun kertas tergolong efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri patogen

Abstract

This research is a type of development research. The development method applied follows the define, design, and development Model. The aim of this study is to produce a valid general biology learning equipment based on case method and project based learning. In this research, the completed general biology learning equipment design was validated by content experts and language experts. Based on the validation results from content experts, the tool achieved a validation percentage of 86.65%, categorized as highly valid. The language experts validated the equipment with a percentage of 81.25%, also categorized as highly valid. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed general biology learning equipment is suitable for testing by instructors of general biology courses.

Abstract

Enhancing Early Mathematics Learning Through an Interactive Storybook: A Development and Validation Study. Objective: This research aims to develop and implement an active mathematics learning paradigm for early childhood through illustrated storybooks that integrate fundamental mathematical concepts, namely numbers, patterns, geometry, measurement, and statistics. The goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate platform that encourages engagement, improves math proficiency, hones problem-solving skills, and makes learning more meaningful and enjoyable. Methods: The methodology used is a development research based on the Dick and Carey model. The validation process involved mathematicians, early childhood education experts, kindergarten educators, and media experts. Data were obtained through surveys, interviews, observations, and limited trials involving 14 children aged 5–6 years in Pekanbaru, Riau Province, Indonesia. Quantitative data analysis employed descriptive statistics, pretest-posttest comparisons, normality tests, and homogeneity tests. At the same time, qualitative data were obtained from expert evaluations and instructor comments. Findings: The validation results showed that the developed media met the criteria of validity, practicality, and efficacy, with scores from PAUD experts of 88.00%, mathematics experts of 89.33%, early childhood teachers of 81.54%, and media experts of 88.00%, with an overall category of "very good". In the limited trial stage, an average pretest score of 17.59 and a posttest score of 25.2 were obtained, indicating a significant increase in all mathematics indicators. The normality test (p > 0.05) indicated that the data were normally distributed, while the homogeneity test (p > 0.05) indicated that the data were homogeneous. The t-test results showed that the calculated t-value for all indicators was greater than the t-table value (1.771) with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the media had a significant impact on improving children's mathematics abilities. Observations revealed positive responses from the children, including increased interest, focus, and active involvement. Conclusions: Active math storybooks have been recognized as an innovative learning tool for early childhood, helping educators create a stimulating learning environment and serving as an effective resource for parents. The design, which combines stories, games, and interactive activities, has been proven to strengthen children's math skills. Keywords: active learning design, early childhood, education, mathematics.

Abstract

Introduction: Performance gaps remain in Indonesian health services, as seen between Undata Regional General Hospital and Anutapura Regional General Hospital. Although Undata Regional General Hospital applies a Performance Architecture system, its effectiveness is uncertain. This study compares employee performance between the two hospitals. Objective: This study aims to compare employee performance between the two hospitals to evaluate whether the Performance Architecture system contributes to measurable improvements. Method: A quantitative comparative study was conducted with 95 purposively selected employees. Independent sample t-tests assessed differences in performance variables between both hospitals. Result and Discussion: Significant differences were found in Work Productivity (p = 0.018) and Service Quality (p = 0.024), with higher scores at Anutapura Regional General Hospital, indicating that Performance Architecture has not yet improved outcomes at Undata Regional General Hospital. No significant differences were observed in Procedural Compliance, Collaborative Ability, or Initiative and Adaptability. Conclusion: Performance Architecture at Undata Regional General Hospital has not produced optimal results. Stronger implementation and organizational support are needed to enhance performance
