Abstract

Psychologically, young children generally enjoy listening to stories told by their parents. This study aims to analyze the impact of storytelling before bed by parents in order to improve early childhood language development. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The respondents of this study were 15 mothers and 15 children aged 5-6 years. The methods used to collect data were in-depth interviews and observation. Data analysis techniques use qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results of the research show that storytelling before bed impacts children's fluency in pronouncing words, vocabulary mastery, self-confidence, and creativity in retelling the stories they hear. In conclusion, storytelling before bed can empirically improve children's language development significantly. Apart from that, this research has implications for the teaching and learning process in PAUD units, where teachers are advised to use the storytelling method during the teaching and learning process. Parents are also advised to get into the habit of telling stories before bed as one of the methods used in developing language in early childhood, especially for young children. 5-6 years.

Abstract

The development of religious and moral values is the ability of early childhood to act and behave according to the religious and moral values they embraced. This study aims to find out the effect of using gadget on instilling religious and moral values for early childhood in Kober El Karim, and to find out the benefits of using gadget for early childhood in Kober El Karim. The method used in this study is a qualitative under a phenomenological approach. The results of the present study show that the early childhoods’ religious and moral values are seen in the form of reading basmalah in beginning every activity, saying a prayer before and after learning, before and after eating snacks, and before going home. Besides, the early childhoods also speak the truth and maintain their noble deeds while they are at school and at home. In addition, the benefits of using gadget to early childhood will be: gadget is able to generate the early childhood’s self-confidence, gadget is able to foster the early childhood’s creativity according to what he/she watched, gadget is able to develop early childhood’s fine and gross motor skills, gadget is able to increase the early childhood’s linguistic skill through increasing his/her vocabularies based on the materials he/she watched.

Abstract

English vocabulary ability is one of the important aspects in learning and understanding English effectively. This study aims at determining the use and impact of employing “Make a Match” learning model to improve the 5th grade students’ English vocabulary ability of SD Negeri 2 Maparah. This study uses a qualitative method under a classroom action research (CAR) approach. The results of the study show that the use of Make a Match learning model is proven to be significantly successful to improve the 5th grade students’ English vocabulary ability of SD Negeri 2 Maparah, as indicated by an increasing of the completion score of 62.5% in cycle I to 93.75% in cycle II. In addition, the use of Make a Match learning model shows a positive impact to improve the 5th grade students’ English vocabulary ability of SD Negeri 2 Maparah. In conclusion, the use of Make a Match learning model is effective to improve the 5th grade students’ English vocabulary ability of SD Negeri 2 Maparah.

Abstract

Reading interest is a key component to develop literacy skills, especially for first-grade elementary students to begin their learning journey. This study aims to explore the reading interest of first-grade students at SDN 4 Kertasari, the strategies used by teachers to enhance it, and the impact of those strategies. The study employed a qualitative method under a case study approach. The results of the study revealed that there is a positive improvement on students' reading interest, as shown through enthusiastic expressions, high curiosity, strong focus during reading, and feelings of satisfaction. Afterwards, the teacher’s strategies included: (1) daily 15 minutes reading habits; (2) providing a comfortable reading corner; (3) displaying illustrated motivational words; and (4) offering colorful, engaging books. This strategy has a positive impact on reading comprehension, reading fluency, letter recognition, and receiving feedback from parents towards the teacher’s success in increasing their children’s reading interest.
