Abstract

This study develops and evaluates machine learning models to predict high school graduation outcomes and identify at-risk students for early intervention. Using a quantitative approach, data from 1,017 students across three public high schools were analyzed, encompassing academic performance (average yearly scores), behavioral factors (attendance rates and extracurricular participation), and socio-economic background (proxied by parental occupation). A comparative modeling strategy was applied, beginning with a Decision Tree baseline and advancing to a Stacking Ensemble model that integrated three heterogeneous base learners—Support Vector Machine (SVM), k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN), and Decision Tree—combined through a Logistic Regression meta-model. Both models were optimized using GridSearchCV and adjusted for class imbalance between graduates (93.4%) and at-risk students (6.6%). The results showed that academic variables, particularly third-year average scores (mean = 82.6, SD = 6.4) and attendance rate (mean = 94.3%), were the strongest predictors of graduation, while socio-economic indicators had minimal impact. The Stacking Ensemble achieved a notable improvement over the Decision Tree, reaching an accuracy of 99.6%, precision of 0.909, recall of 1.000, F1-score of 0.952, and AUC of 1.000, compared to the baseline accuracy of 94.9% (F1-score = 0.519, AUC = 0.83). These findings indicate the superior predictive capability of the ensemble model in identifying students at risk of non-graduation. The study’s novelty lies in combining interpretable and high-performance models to construct a practical early-warning framework that can guide educators and policymakers in targeted academic interventions. However, the near-perfect metrics also suggest potential overfitting, emphasizing the need for validation using external datasets before broader application. Overall, this research contributes a robust, data-driven methodology for improving student retention through predictive analytics in educational settings.

Abstract

In today's era of digitalisation and the 4.0 industrial revolution, visually appealing promotional materials are essential for survival and growth. This community service activity aims to improve the visual promotion capabilities of MSMEs in Pangkalpinang City through the use of graphic design, as well as to equip participants with the skills needed in today's digital age. The programme was conducted over five days, involving 20 students and 7 SME partners from the culinary and handicraft sectors. The methodology combined design thinking and project-based learning approaches, starting from field observation, ideation, prototyping, to the submission of final designs. The outcomes of the activity include ready-to-use promotional materials such as banners, food menus, and supporting materials tailored to the identity and needs of each SME. This activity contributes to improving the competitiveness of MSMEs through visual differentiation and strengthening marketing literacy among MSMEs and participants.ABSTRAKPada era digitalisasi dan revolusi industri 4.0 sekarang ini, keberadaan materi promosi yang menarik secara visual menjadi kebutuhan primer untuk bertahan dan berkembang.

Abstract

Selecting competent teachers plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of education at Pangkalpinang Baptist School. However, the use of subjective judgment in the recruitment process often leads to less effective decision-making. Therefore, this research aims to examine the teacher selection mechanism by applying the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to strengthen the objectivity and precision of the selection decisions. The SAW approach assesses applicants using three main criteria: interview performance (30%), academic test results (35%), and micro teaching skills (35%).Each criterion receives specific weights according to importance levels, followed by calculations to determine candidates with the highest scores. Research results demonstrate that SAW method implementation provides more systematic and transparent decisions in teacher selection. The study evaluated 10 teacher candidates with Eka Sitompul achieving the highest score of 0.85, followed by Fandi Saputra and Vitta Natalia with 0.825 each. This method enables schools to conduct data-based selection, reducing subjectivity in recruitment processes and ensuring selected teaching staff possess competencies aligned with school requirements.

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has accelerated globally, yet understanding of adoption factors remains fragmented, particularly in geographically isolated regions. This study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by incorporating facilitating conditions, AI anxiety, and academic performance outcomes to analyze AI adoption patterns across multiple institutions in Bangka Belitung Islands, Indonesia. A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed with 523 students from five higher education institutions. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS through SmartPLS 4.0, revealing that perceived ease of use demonstrated the strongest influence on actual AI system use (β=0.394, p<0.001), followed by perceived usefulness (β=0.327, p<0.001) and facilitating conditions (β=0.218, p<0.01). AI anxiety showed a significant negative effect on actual system use (β=-0.156, p<0.05), while actual system use strongly predicted academic performance (β=0.782, p<0.001). The extended model explained 68.4% variance in actual AI system use and 61.2% variance in academic performance. Multigroup analysis revealed significant differences between public and private institutions (p<0.05), with private institutions showing stronger technology acceptance patterns. These findings suggest that successful AI implementation requires holistic strategies addressing user experience design, institutional support infrastructure, and anxiety reduction programs tailored to institutional contexts in archipelagic regions.
