Abstract

Swimming is a popular water sport for the community. This sport is considered very fun and suitable for anyone regardless of age. Swimming has various benefits, including improving psychosocial conditions in school-age children during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the effect of swimming training on reducing stress in school-age children. This quasi-experimental study was conducted using a one-group pretest-posttest design approach, which was conducted on 30 elementary school students registered at the Jalak Bali Swimming Club, Jembrana, Bali who have met the inclusion criteria. The training program was developed based on the principles of the Bompa training and the stress score was measured using a 14-item PSS-C questionnaire on pretest and post-test. then the data were analyzed using the paired t-test to determine the effect of swimming exercise. The results of these tests can be concluded that swimming training has a significant effect on reducing stress in school-age children (sig. value < 0.05). Furthermore, there is a decrease in stress scores of 3,467 from the results of the pretest to the post-test. Swimming training can reduce stress for school-age children. Swimming sports activities can be an alternative for parents or teachers in dealing with stress to improve the mental health of school-age children.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of an innovative play-based approach in swimming instruction to enhance self-confidence, water safety awareness, and fundamental motor skills among early childhood learners. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Batuagung, Jembrana, using a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design—specifically, a non-equivalent control group design—involving 40 students aged 6–8 years. The experimental group received swimming instruction through innovative play-based methods, while the control group received conventional instruction. Instruments included a self-confidence scale based on Bandura’s self-efficacy indicators, a water safety observation sheet adapted from the Life Saving for Kids module (ILSF, 2021), and a water-contextualized version of the TGMD-2 motor skills test. All instruments were validated by experts and demonstrated high reliability (α > 0.80). Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests with SPSS version 25. The results showed significant improvements in the experimental group compared to the control group: self-confidence increased by 32%, water safety by 43%, and fundamental motor skills by 38%. These findings indicate that the innovative play-based approach creates a safe, enjoyable, and adaptive learning environment. Theoretically, the study contributes to the body of knowledge in physical education and early childhood development, while practically, it provides guidance for teachers, coaches, and curriculum developers to design swimming lessons that are holistic—addressing not only technique, but also psychological and safety aspects. This research also opens avenues for future exploration on the long-term impacts of this model on character building, emotional regulation, and its applicability to children with special needs or outdoor water-based learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of swimming activities on the development of balance and motor coordination in early childhood at SDK Marsudirini, Jembrana Regency. The research method used was quasi-experiment with *non-equivalent control group* design. The sample consisted of 42 early childhood students, which were divided into experimental groups (n = 21) and control groups (n = 21). The research instruments were balance and motor coordination tests conducted at pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results of the paired t-test showed significant improvement in the experimental group in both aspects of balance (pre-test: 12.3 ± 1.8; post-test: 17.8 ± 2.0; p = 0.000) and motor coordination (pre-test: 14.5 ± 2.1; post-test: 19.6 ± 2.4; p = 0.000). In contrast, the control group showed no significant changes in either aspect. The independent t-test also showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-test results of balance (p = 0.000) and coordination (p = 0.000). These findings confirm that swimming activities can significantly improve balance and motor coordination in early childhood, so it can be used as one of the recommended educational approaches in children's physical education programs.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model on the learning outcomes of basic passing and dribbling techniques in handball among students of class XI.9 and XI.10 at SMA Negeri 1 Negara. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with an experimental design involving two groups, namely the experimental group which received the STAD learning model treatment, and the control group which used conventional learning. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments that encompassed the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects of the students. The results of the assumption test indicated that the data from both groups were normally distributed and homogeneous, allowing for data analysis to proceed using parametric statistical techniques. The results of the paired sample t-test indicate that both the experimental and control groups experienced a significant improvement in learning outcomes from the pretest to the posttest across all measured aspects. However, based on the results of the independent sample t-test, no significant difference in improvement was found between the experimental group and the control group. This means that both the STAD learning model and the conventional model are equally effective in improving learning outcomes, but there is not a statistically strong difference between the two.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of athlete development management at Tirta Krisna Swimming Club in Jembrana Regency. The research is driven by the crucial role of swimming clubs in nurturing high-achieving young athletes. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. Participants included coaches, club administrators, parents, and athletes. The findings indicate that the management system encompasses structured training planning, consistent program implementation, active parental involvement, and performance-based evaluation. A diagram of the results shows 40 active athletes of various age groups and a yearly increase in competition participation. Despite limited facilities, strong leadership from coaches and high athlete motivation serve as key success factors. The study highlights the importance of integrated management involving coaches, athletes, parents, and club administrators in forming an effective athlete development ecosystem.
