Influence of Organic Fertilizer Application on Durian (Durio zibethinus L.) Seedling Growth and Soil Nutrient Dynamics in Sumbawa Regency Khairi, Alfassabiq; Purnamasari, Ayu

Abstract

Durian is an economically important tropical fruit in Southeast Asia; however, its productivity remains low in dryland areas such as Sumbawa Regency due to poor soil fertility and suboptimal cultivation practices. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer application on the growth performance of durian seedlings and soil nutrient status. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with eight replications and eight treatments, consisting of organic fertilizer doses ranging from 0 to 100 g/plant. Growth variables were observed at early (12 days after planting, DAP) and vegetative stages (30–90 DAP), including hypocotyl and epicotyl characteristics, root development, plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter. Soil chemical properties (pH, N, P, K, Ca, and Mg) were analyzed before planting and after harvest. The results showed that organic fertilizer significantly improved seedling growth and soil nutrient status. At 12 DAP, moderate fertilizer application (40 g/plant) produced optimal hypocotyl and epicotyl development, while the highest dose (100 g.plant-1) enhanced root biomass and total plant weight. During the vegetative stage, 100 g.plant-1 consistently resulted in the highest plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter. Soil analysis indicated that organic fertilizer significantly increased the availability of essential nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, and Mg), although soil pH remained stable across treatments. Correlation analysis revealed strong positive relationships between plant growth variables and nutrient availability, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus. In conclusion, the application of organic fertilizer, especially at 100 g.plant-1, effectively improves durian seedling growth and soil fertility. This approach represents a sustainable strategy for enhancing durian cultivation in dryland environments such as Sumbawa Regency.

Abstract

Kemampuan mengenal bentuk geometri merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam perkembangan kognitif anak usia dini yang perlu dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran yang menarik dan bermakna. Namun, pada praktiknya masih ditemukan anak yang mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep bentuk geometri secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan anak usia 4–5 tahun dalam mengenal berbagai bentuk geometri melalui aktivitas eksploratif yang berpusat pada anak dengan memanfaatkan media permainan puzzle di KB Mutiara Hati, Desa Karangrejo, Kecamatan Mumbulsari, Kabupaten Jember. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan model Stephen Kemmis dan Robin McTaggart yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus selama empat minggu dengan subjek sebanyak 15 anak. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan indikator keberhasilan >75% anak mencapai kategori Berkembang Sesuai Harapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media puzzle mampu meningkatkan kemampuan anak dalam mengenal, mengelompokkan, dan menyebutkan bentuk-bentuk geometri secara bertahap hingga mencapai kriteria keberhasilan yang ditetapkan. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media permainan puzzle efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal bentuk geometri pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

This study examined the roles of self-efficacy and academic load on resilience among first-semester university students. A correlational design was used with purposive sampling of 298 students. Measures included a 25-item self-efficacy scale (α = .911), a 20-item academic load scale (α = .901), and a 24-item resilience scale (α = .934). Descriptive analyses, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression (OLS) with Huber-White robust correction were performed. Results indicated that self-efficacy had a positive significant effect on resilience (B = 0.603, p < .001), while academic load had a negative significant effect (B = -0.120, p = .045). The model accounted for 43.7% of variance in resilience (Adjusted R² = .437). Practical implications include focusing on self-efficacy enhancement and academic load management in student support programs.
