Abstract

This study investigates the impact of using image media on the mathematical ability of third-grade students in solving fractional story problems at SDN Palatiga. Using a quantitative experimental design, the study involved 30 students from class III (A) and 30 from class III (B). Descriptive tests and observation sheets, validated by experts and pre-tested, were used as research instruments. The findings reveal that while the post-test scores for the class using image media showed an average of 74.33 (with a highest score of 85 and a lowest of 65), the t-test result (sig. = 0.105) indicated no statistically significant difference between pre- and post-test scores. Despite the statistical insignificance, practical improvements in students' understanding were observed. These results suggest that image media has the potential to enhance student engagement and comprehension in solving fractional problems. However, further research with larger samples and extended interventions is recommended to validate these findings and explore broader applications of image media in mathematics education.

Abstract

Creative thinking is a critical skill for students to develop in mathematics learning. Educational researchers have found an inconsistent relationship between creative thinking and success in mathematics learning. This meta-analysis aims to determine the overall relationship between creative thinking and mathematics learning success. The study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing data from primary studies published in academic journals. The sample was collected using the Publish or Perish application, resulting in 14 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using correlation meta-analysis with the assistance of the JASP application. The analysis revealed that the correlation between creative thinking and mathematics learning success falls into the strong category. Additionally, the effect size of the correlation differed significantly across educational levels and between small and large sample sizes. However, no significant differences were observed in the effect size of the correlation based on the year of publication. These findings highlight the importance of fostering creative thinking skills in the mathematics learning process to enhance students' academic success.

Abstract

This study examines the effective differences between the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and conventional learning in improving mathematics outcomes for integer multiplication and division. A quasi-experimental design with a Post-test Control Group Design was employed, involving 32 third-grade students from SDN 4 Wameo Baubau, divided into experimental (RME) and control (conventional) groups. Data was collected through a validated 10-item essay test and analyzed using an Independent Sample T-Test with SPSS. Key findings: (1) The experimental group’s average score (89.38) was significantly higher than the control group’s (55.94); (2) Hypothesis testing yielded t-value = -9.223 and sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming RME’s superiority. These results advocate for RME as an alternative approach to elementary mathematics learning, particularly for context-oriented topics.

Abstract

This research on Muhammadiyah's Social Activism for West Sulawesi Earthquake Survivors aims to analyze it analytically and map Muhammadiyah's social activities from a philanthropic perspective. This research data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and document review. All data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman paradigm combined with Von Eckarberg's hermeneutic phenomenological analysis model. The findings and discussion of this research conclude the following: Muhammadiyah Sultra's social activism for earthquake survivors can be categorized as social philanthropy. This can be seen from the movement of volunteers who not only provide compensation but also carry out empowerment activities in the form of strengthening the spiritual and intellectual capacity of survivors. Muhammadiyah's social activism towards survivors is carried out on universal humanitarian principles and relies on the theological ideas of al-ma'un and Islam rahmatan lil alamin, so that the various social services and capacity strengthening programs carried out during the emergency response period are not co-opted by the social, cultural and religious background of the survivor group as subjects who receive social services.
