Abstract

Kata kunci: pemahaman konsep matematika; teori APOS; SPLDV; pembelajaran kontekstual; kemampuan berpikir matematis Abstract: Conceptual understanding in mathematics is a critical component in learning Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV), as it plays a significant role in students’ ability to solve contextual problems. This study aims to analyze students' conceptual understanding based on the APOS theory (Action, Process, Object, Schema), which outlines the stages of mathematical thinking. A qualitative approach was employed, involving diagnostic tests and in-depth interviews with three students representing high, moderate, and low ability levels, selectsed from a total of 28 students who participated in the test. The results revealed that the high-ability student was able to complete the SPLDV problems across nearly all APOS stages, although with some limitations in written representation. The moderate-ability student demonstrated partial understanding, especially in selecting problem-solving methods and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, the low-ability student showed only surface-level understanding, as responses were obtained from external sources without internal knowledge construction. These findings affirm the effectiveness of the APOS theory as an analytical framework to identify learning difficulties in mathematics comprehensively. This research contributes to the development of instructional strategies based on students’ cognitive stages and suggests further exploration of the integration of technological approaches. Keywords: mathematics conceptual understanding; APOS theory; systems of linear equations; contextual learning; mathematical thinking skills

Abstract

Goal. Improving the quality of mathematics learning outcomes remains a significant challenge in education, particularly for abstract topics such as relations and functions. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Numbered Heads Together cooperative learning model in improving the mathematics learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP PGRI Poopo.Materials and methods. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental One-Shot Case Study design involving 24 students. The treatment consisted of implementing the Numbered Heads Together learning model during the instructional process, after which students’ learning outcomes were measured through a posttest assessing their mastery of relations and functions concepts. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Liliefors normality test, and a one-sample t-test to determine whether the mean achievement exceeded the Minimum Mastery Criterion.Results. The analysis showed that the mean student learning outcome reached 83.83, with a minimum score of 70 and a maximum score of 95. The data distribution was confirmed to be normal. The calculated t-value of 6.65 significantly exceeded the critical t-value at the 0.05 significance level, indicating that students’ learning outcomes were above the Minimum Mastery Criterion. These findings demonstrate that the Numbered Heads Together model enhances student participation, conceptual understanding, and equitable engagement in learning activities.Conclusion. The implementation of the Numbered Heads Together model was proven effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes on relations and functions. This study strengthens empirical evidence on the benefits of cooperative learning in addressing abstract and deductive mathematical concepts and provides a basis for recommending the broader implementation of cooperative learning models to improve instructional quality at the secondary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether the learning outcomes of students who are taught using the Contextual Teaching and Learning model are higher than the learning outcomes of students who are taught using direct learning on opportunity material. This research method is a quasi- experimental design with Posttest only Control Design with a model for context-based learning and instruction and a direct learning model. The results of the Lilliefors test and t-test showed that the data were normally distributed and the final scores of the students of class VIII A as the experimental class and VIII B as the control class had substantial variations in the average score. The results were analyzed using t-test with a significance level of = 0.05 is Tcount = 2.06336 > Ttable = 2.01063 so that H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted. Thus the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model has an effect on students' ability to solve Opportunity questions at St. Catholic Junior High School. Johanis Laikit.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the use of social media, especially YouTube on the mathematics learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 1 Pusomaen students. The social media youtube is the largest video presenter in the world today which contains all types of videos. Most of the students of SMP Negeri 1 Pusomen admitted that they prefer to use YouTube social media when they are at school rather than studying, besides that mathematics subjects are less attractive to students because they are considered very boring, making students rarely study when they are at home. Mathematics learning that is less attractive to students and excessive use of social media during class hours results in student learning outcomes that are still below the KKM. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are observation, questionnaires/questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of the study at the time of observation showed that students had various reasons for using YouTube social media, but almost all of the students who were sampled very often used this social media anywhere and anytime, including at school when learning took place. The frequent use of social media by students has an impact on students' mathematics learning outcomes. The distributed questionnaire score data also shows that students really like YouTube social media with a percentage of 56% in the response aspect, and 54% in the reaction aspect. At the time of the research, the researcher tried to find out more about the impact of using YouTube social media on student learning outcomes, by making YouTube social media a learning resource, and it was found that students were very enthusiastic during the learning process and the learning outcomes obtained were 88 out of 100 students. have finished studying. This makes the use of YouTube social media a positive impact if used properly. So, the conclusion that can be drawn from the implementation of this research is that the use of appropriate social media has a positive impact on the mathematics learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 1 Pusomaen students and has a negative impact on student learning outcomes if it is used excessively and not as a learning resource.
