Abstract

Permaculture is an agricultural design approach that integrates social, economic, and environmental considerations. To develop sustainable agricultural practices like permaculture, specialized training is necessary due to its distinct differences from conventional farming methods. Kebun Hanif is one of the locations that applies permaculture design concepts and conducts related training programs. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Permaculture Design Course (PDC) at Kebun Hanif and assess the program’s overall effectiveness. The research employs both qualitative and quantitative approaches, using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) evaluation model. Data collection methods include distributing questionnaires, conducting in-depth interviews, and reviewing documents. The results indicate that the PDC at Kebun Hanif, an intensive program that began in early 2022, teaches permaculture principles through an approach based on Islamic values. The evaluation, using the CIPP model, yielded positive outcomes across all aspects: context, input, process, and product. The context evaluation showed an 83% satisfaction rate, demonstrating the program's relevance to local needs. The input evaluation scored 84%, highlighting sufficient resource allocation and planning. The process evaluation scored 80%, indicating that the program was implemented as planned, though there is room for improvement. The product evaluation revealed an 80% success rate, reflecting the program’s effectiveness in achieving its goals and in the application of permaculture concepts by participants.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency of red chili agribusiness supply chain structures in Sindulang Village, Cimanggung Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency. Efficiency is measured by indicators such as distribution chain length, production cost (HPP), marketing margin, farmer’s share, and cash flow cycle. The research applied a qualitative case study approach using descriptive and diagnostic analysis. Results reveal three main supply chain structures: independent farmers, cooperative-partnered farmers, and company-partnered farmers. The independent farmer model was the most efficient, having the shortest chain, lowest HPP, smallest marketing margin, and highest farmer’s share (50%). The cooperative model was the least efficient, with the lowest farmer’s share (38%), highest HPP, and the longest cash cycle. The company-partnered model ranked moderate in efficiency. These findings emphasize that supply chain efficiency is significantly influenced by institutional structure, distribution system, and the integration of information among actors.

Abstract

Capsicum annum are a horticultural commodity that has commercial value. In distributing Capsicum annum, several actors are needed to form a chain.  In this chain there are activities that create added value from farmers' production, thus making the price of Capsicum annum different for each actor. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the agribusiness value chain for Capsicum annum commodities. The location used as the research site is Sindulang Village, Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. This research uses a qualitative approach. Informants are selected randomly purposive with technique snowball sampling. The research results will be analyzed using cost of production analysis and the Hayami method. There are 2 business models in Sindulang Village with different value chains, namely the independent farmer business model and cooperative partner farmers. The Cost of Production (HPP) of the independent farmer business model is smaller compared to the HPP of company partner farmers. Independent farmers have a HPP of IDR 10,567/kg, while the HPP obtained from the cooperative partner farmer business model is IDR 15,308/kg. The marketing institution that has the highest added value is the small collecting trader with a value of IDR 4,323, where other marketing institutions such as large collecting traders and cooperatives get a value of IDR 1,721 and IDR 1,440. Based on analysis farmer’s Share, It is known that the most efficient marketing channels in Sindulang Village occur in marketing channels 2 and 3, namely independent farmers who sell Capsicum annum to collectors and farmers who sell Capsicum annum to cooperatives with a percentage of 45%. Meanwhile, farmers who sell to small traders only earn farmer’s share by 35%.

Abstract

The Farmhill is a premium melon producer in Indonesia whose products are spread throughout Indonesia. When compared with the price of other melons, premium melons have a higher price. However, demand, production, and marketing of this melon remain high and even increase. This does not appear to be suitable with the law of demand which states "the higher the price, the less consumer demand". This research aims to describe the characteristics of consumers and determine the factors that influence consumer decisions in purchasing premium melon. The research methods used by researchers are descriptive analysis and factor analysis. Based on the results of this research, show that nine new factors influence the decision to purchase premium melon. However, researchers only took five dominant factors, namely food safety and quality, consumer psychology, product characteristic, consumer needs, and product accessibility. The factor that has the biggest contribution is food safety and quality.
