Abstract

Balancing work and studies is a challenging thing to do, especially for university students. It is crucial for working students to focus on their well-being, which plays a major key role in personal growth. In order to achieve and maintain one’s well-being, effective time management and good quality of sleep are essential. These aspects can be difficult for working students due to time constraints, as working students are said to have difficulties in managing their schedule and tend to have inadequate rest. The aim of this study is to explore how time management and sleep quality affect the well-being of working students. This study employed a non-experimental correlational quantitative research design. Convenience sampling was used in this study with a sample size of 251 students from universities across Indonesia. The instruments used in this study include Time Management Questionnaire (Britton & Tesser, 1991), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (Buysse, 1989), and WHO-5 Well-being Index (WHO, 1998). Non-experimental correlational approach is used in this study with a total of 251 participants. Validity and reliability assessments were conducted on the research instruments, with all three of them achieving good reliability, indicated by a Cronbach's alpha exceeding 0.06. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 25 with the multiple linear regression method. The descriptive analysis in this study indicates that participants' overall well-being is low, averaging at 1.958. This study found a significant p-value (0.000 < 0.05), signifying that well-being is influenced by time management and sleep quality. The R-squared value of 0.502 suggests that 50.2% of well-being variability is explained by these factors. The concurrent influence of time management and sleep quality predicts well-being, with higher levels in both corresponding to increased well-being.

Abstract

Impostor phenomenon is a psychological condition experienced by individuals who are competent in their field but feels insecure about their abilities. Individuals with impostor phenomenon have low career struggles, making it difficult to get into leadership positions. Research related to the performance of individuals with impostor phenomenon is limited. Therefore, the objective of this study was to conduct further research regarding the performance of professional workers with impostor phenomenon on three performance variables, namely task performance, contextual performance, and counterproductive work behavior. A total of 146 valid responses were obtained through four self-report instruments, the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire, the Perfectionism Cognitions Inventory, the Perceived Supervisory Support Scale, and the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale. The respondents included 71 participants with high impostor phenomenon and 75 with low impostor phenomenon. After conducting correlation analysis, this study shows that there are differences in performance between the high and low impostor phenomenon groups. The high impostor phenomenon group tends to have higher job performance score, but with higher counterproductive work behavior. Meanwhile, the low impostor phenomenon group has higher task performance with better quality results. We also found that perfectionism and perceived supervisor support have a significant correlation with the performance of the high impostor phenomenon group. In order to provide more comprehensive understanding, this study also includes discussions and suggestions regarding research variables.

Abstract

This study explores the role of cultural intelligence and knowledge sharing in influencing employee performance, with job satisfaction serving as a mediator. Performance is defined as the ability and achievements in completing tasks or reaching goals, and is impacted by both cultural intelligence and knowledge-sharing practices within the workplace. Cultural intelligence refers to the ability to adapt to diverse cultural environments and interact effectively with individuals from various backgrounds. Knowledge sharing encompasses the exchange of information, experiences, and expertise among employees across departments. Higher levels of cultural intelligence and knowledge sharing can enhance job satisfaction, which is a positive emotional state arising from job achievements and experiences. Employees with high job satisfaction tend to exhibit greater productivity and performance. This quantitative study utilized four questionnaires: cultural intelligence (Van et al., 2007), knowledge sharing (Lin et al., 2022), performance (IWPQ by Koopmans, 2014), and job satisfaction (original MSQ by Weiss et al., 1967). The sample comprised 116 active employees from PT X, a steam power plant in Cirebon, West Java, selected from a total of 606 employees. Findings reveal that job satisfaction mediates the relationship between cultural intelligence and employee performance, but does not mediate the relationship between knowledge sharing and performance. This study provides insights for tailoring employee management strategies based on factors such as age, position, education, cultural intelligence, and knowledge sharing, ultimately enhancing satisfaction and performance in a multicultural work environment.
