Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of Maqashid Syariah Principles protecting religion (hifz ad-din) life (hifz an-nafs), wealth (hifz al-mal), and the environment (hifz al-biah) in restaurant’s production practices. A qualitative case study approach was used, with primary data from interviews with owner, employees, and customers, alongside direct observations and secondary data from operational documents. The results show that Rumah Makan Angin Berhembus applies hifz ad-din and hifz an-nafs by serving halal, thayyib food and maintaining cleanliness in production. The al-mal principle is reflected in the use of local ingrediets. However, there are gaps in the hifz al-biah principle, particularly in waste management and environmentally friendly production. Can serve as a model for other culinary businesses, promoting fairness and sustainability in their operations.

Abstract

Research aims: This study analyzes the role of Sharia venture capital in enhancing the growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of MSMEs in Indonesia, while mapping global trends, thematic clusters, challenges, and opportunities in Sharia-based venture financing. Design/Methodology/Approach: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA protocol is combined with bibliometric analysis through VOSviewer. Publications from 2020–2024 indexed in Scopus were screened with defined criteria, and keyword co-occurrence mapping was conducted to identify thematic structures and research directions. Research findings: Six thematic clusters emerged: financing mechanisms, macroeconomic dynamics, technological innovation, governance and risk, entrepreneurship, and global market integration. Sharia venture capital strengthens MSME financing access, innovation, and ethical economic development, though challenges persist in literacy, collaboration, and regulatory support. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: The study fills a literature gap by integrating Islamic ethical principles with modern venture financing and offering a conceptual understanding of Sharia risk-sharing models in MSME empowerment. Practitioners/Policy Implications: Findings highlight the need for stronger regulation, investor education, institutional collaboration, digital transformation, and MSME capacity building. Research Limitations/Implications: Limitations stem from reliance on secondary data and database scope. Future research should assess empirical impacts, digital Sharia VC models, and governance mechanisms.

Abstract

Abstract

IntroductionContemporary ecological crises have exposed the ethical and epistemological limitations of dominant economic paradigms that prioritize growth, utility maximization, and anthropocentric rationality. Within Islamic economics, the concept of Homo Islamicus has been advanced as an alternative model of economic agency grounded in moral, spiritual, and social values. However, despite Islam’s explicit prohibition of environmental destruction and its emphasis on stewardship, ecological responsibility has not been articulated explicitly or systematically within many conceptualizations of Homo Islamicus. This gap becomes increasingly significant as sustainability and environmental justice emerge as central global concerns.ObjectivesThis study aims to critically re-examine the conceptual construction of Homo Islamicus in Islamic economics literature and to assess the extent to which ecological ethics, particularly Hifz al-Bi’ah (environmental preservation), are integrated into this model. It seeks to identify conceptual gaps, evaluate the relevance of ecological ethics within Islamic economic agency, and propose a paradigmatic reconstruction that aligns Homo Islamicus with contemporary sustainability challenges.MethodThe study employs a qualitative literature analysis design based on a purposive selection of fifteen Scopus-indexed journal articles discussing Homo Islamicus and related concepts of Islamic economic agency. Using a modified analytical framework adapted from established qualitative synthesis methods, the analysis proceeds through three stages: identifying definitions of Homo Islamicus, tracing embedded ecological values and principles related to Hifz al-Bi’ah, and evaluating the role of ecological ethics within these conceptual frameworks.ResultsThe findings reveal that while Homo Islamicus is consistently portrayed as a morally guided and socially responsible agent, ecological responsibility remains largely implicit, symbolic, or secondary. Recent developments in maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, especially the discourse on Hifz al-Bi’ah, provide a strong normative basis for environmental ethics, yet this has not been fully integrated into models of economic agency.ImplicationsIntegrating Hifz al-Bi’ah into the core of Homo Islamicus strengthens Islamic economics as an ethical framework capable of addressing sustainability and ecological justice.Originality/NoveltyThis study offers a paradigmatic reconstruction of Homo Islamicus as an ethical–ecological economic agent, contributing to the advancement of Islamic economics as a transformative normative social science responsive to contemporary environmental challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of scientific publications on Marginal Productivity and its relevance to determining modern labor wages during the period 2020 to 2025 using a bibliometric approach. Data was obtained from Scopus basic data by downloading article metadata in RIS and CSV formats, then processed using VOS viewer software with a minimum number of keywords of 5 out of 2,893 keywords, 207 of which met the threshold to produce three types of visualizations, namely network visualization, overlay visualization, and density visualization. The results showed that there were 558 publications related to the topic during the six years of observation with a downward trend from 113 articles in 2020 to 68articles in 2025. Network visualization revealed that "wage determination" was the main node that had the strongest connection with other themes, such as wage gap, labor policy, gender disparity, productivity, and macroeconomic dynamics. The network structure forms several thematic clusters reflecting research focuses, including wage inequality, human capital, labor productivity, monetary policy, and the impact of globalization on the labor market. Meanwhile, the overlay visualization shows a shift in research focus from macro issues, such as monetary policy and industrial structure in the early period, to more social and justice-based themes, such as gender inequality, minimum wages, and worker protection in more recent years. These findings demonstrate that the study of wage determination is developing in a multidisciplinary and dynamic manner, with a growing emphasis on inclusivity, social inequality, and evidence-based labor policy in the context of the modern economy

Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze the development trends of research on the topic of "Supply and Demand" over the past decade, identifying gaps and providing directions for future investigation. Utilizing a quantitative bibliometric approach, data were collected from Scopus-indexed journal articles published between 2015 and 2024 using the Publish or Perish software, and analyzed through VOSviewer to visualize keyword relationships, author collaborations, and thematic evolution. The results indicate that while research on "Supply and Demand" has fluctuated annually, sustained scholarly interest persists, though only 138 relevant articles were found during this period, highlighting a relatively limited research volume. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity for deeper exploration. Notably, underexplored keywords such as platform, ecosystem service supply, demand response, customer, implication, and energy resources reveal emerging but insufficiently addressed areas within the literature. By mapping these specific gaps, this study offers a focused roadmap for future research to expand conceptual and methodological boundaries, encouraging scholars to integrate these under-investigated themes to generate novel, interdisciplinary, and contextually relevant insights in the field of Supply and Demand.
