Abstract

In Southeast Asia, many women in radical groups have extreme views and they are ready to join Jihadist movement to support her husband's actions as Jihad fi sabilillah. In this context, experience in Southeast Asia shows the increasing involvement of women in terrorism by reason of following the husband's jihad to fight thogut regimes in the region. Meanwhile, there are a large number of Islamic terrorist organizations involving active women throughout the Southeast Asian region, from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore to the Philippines. In this regard, the emergence of ISIS has strengthened and institutionalized acts of terror and violence by Southeast Asian women following the ISIS declaration to establish a regional khilafah (Caliphate).

Abstract

The involvement of women in terrorism is not a new phenomenon. But the increasing number of women joining the terrorism movement shows an increasing tendency as a new phenomenon. This is because they care deeply about inequality, suffering and injustice, and are disappointed with the government's inability to eradicate poverty. Unfortunately, these women have not found a more reasonable solution to channel their concerns. Their involvement in terrorism and transnational organizations such as ISIS that supports the idea of the Caliphate - and even to some extent with similar regional experiments in Southeast Asia- can make women feel that they are part of a global movement for change .Efforts are needed to de-radicalize women and the spread of moderate Islam (wasatiyah) as well as adequate socio-economic development to realize justice and prosperity in efforts to counteract and prevent women from engaging in acts of terror.

Abstract

According to Albanian Muslim intellectual Ervin Hatibi, Albanian Muslims are not monolithic and have their own secularist traditions, so it is not only Christians who have the phenomenon of secularism like Bernard Lewis's view. Least. Albania as a small country with three Abrahamic / religious beliefs: Islam, Orthodox Christianity and Catholicism, have the opportunity to compete in virtue, where Muslims return to find their mosque, and Christians / Catholics return to find their church. The road ahead has implied a tuft hope.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the lack of women's representation, the challenge of affirmation of 30 percent, the urgency of female legislators, framing the actual context and discourse on strengthening gender-sensitive female legislators. Through a qualitative approach, a number of phenomena were explored in descriptive analytical manner. The findings of the study explain the lack of representation because patriarchal culture still shackles internal political parties. Women are only used as a complement to the requirements to participate in elections. Weak access and freedom during the campaign season as well as the flexibility of the voter network are among the factors that make it difficult to fulfill the representation of women legislators. As for their choice, they are fully supported by social networks, kinship relations and family solidity. The role of legislators is limited to carrying out formal and responsive obligations according to constituent requests or needs. The articulation that is highlighted is a variety of religious social actions. The conclusion of this study confirms that female legislators have not substantively influenced gender-based policies. The commitment of political parties to fulfill women's representation by carrying out potential candidates elected based on a social network and family kinship approach deserves further investigation. This strategy is not impossible for the representation of 30 percent of women legislators to be fulfilled in the future.

Abstract

This paper describes the role of BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises) as a corporation based on experience in Indonesia. In this context, this paper explains that various studies on the factors of legal certainty and legal relations and growth show that law enforcement is especially important for companies, including BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises). In this case, an independent court is the central institution for upholding the law. Likewise, laws and regulations, for example in the field of capital market law, which prohibit insider trading, for example, lead to the development of the capital market. Likewise, the study of the role of banking law where regulations that encourage and facilitate private monitoring of banks tend to strengthen the appearance of banks, reduce bad loans and strengthen bank stability. In sum, BUMN as one of the actors of economic activity in the national economy has an important role in realizing the welfare of the community. For this reason, the BUMN Law wants to optimize the implementation of the role of BUMN in the national economy in order to realize public welfare. Optimizing the role of SOEs is carried out professionally.

Abstract

This article highlights the phenomenon of the Freedom Institute, an NGO in which one of the main actors, Rizal Mallarangeng, who acts as if "academic, epistemic, objective and rational" (Intellectuals, BBM and Advertising Freedom Institute, Kompas 3/3), advertises on print newspaper in Jakarta. And the Freedom Institute advertisement, which was founded by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Aburizal Bakrie and his colleagues, has made some people feel "cynical, irritated and frustrated" towards intellectuals who are so easy to "trade knowledge" with all their credibility and capacity. The annoyance and frustration was shown by the Young Kagama Forum in Jakarta (Wednesday, 2/3/2005) which raised it as an issue of “the phenomenon of neoliberalism and intellectual prostitution” in connection with the Freedom Institute advertisement. However, the students and activists who objected to the fuel price hike and were present at the Kagama Youth Forum stated that they were angry and disgusted with why there are a number of well-known intellectuals who so easily involve themselves in neoliberal advertisements that protect the interests of the dominant economic-political power, instead of siding with the oppressed.

Abstract

This paper explains that in the case of the Corona(Covid-19) pandemic in Indonesia, many Muslim scholars and clerics differed in their response to the Corona outbreak, in which they give a different perspective that confuses people who do not really understand the Islamic teachings associated with this Corona outbreak. However, in the context of the responses of Muslimscholars toward Corona pandemic, it is recognized that the effort to overcome the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) through Medicine and Pharmacy is a human endeavor to strive for human safety in the world. This effort continues even though it is not easy. But many Muslim scholars and religious circles react emotionally and the leaders of these religious organizations will cause many followers or worshipers or members who then no longer believe or are pessimistic and lose confidence in certain sects. The government also cannot take advantage of this opportunity to make the direction of change more rational, more humane and civilized. Though this opportunity for change is available quite often in the span of productive power. In this context, many social scientists, especially anthropologists, have researched extraordinary drastic changes due to epidemics, pandemics or natural disasters, both due to human error and due to extreme pandemics and extreme natural changes. Indonesia as a developing country now is undergoing many unplanned drastic changes, and because of this, many social changes occur irregularly and without direction at all.

Abstract

This article examines the struggle of the Aru Islands community to preserve their forests and their natural environment in the shape of the “Save Aru” social movement from 2013 to 2015. Today this social movement is still alive and kicking. In 2010, the Aru Islands community was taken by surprise by the plan of a private corporation (PT Menara Group or PT MG) to annex forest areas in the Aru Islands in order to convert them into sugar-cane plantations. Their outrage at this plan spurred the citizens of Aru to fight the might of this corporate and preserve their forests and environment. Not all has gone smoothly as the civil society movement in Aru has been divided into pro-splitting and counter-splitting on a regional division agenda. Meanwhile, this exploitative business has become a scourge for the Aru people who want to preserve their forests and the environment as a whole. Thanks to the campaign, environmental awareness appears to be growing rather than abating among the Aru Islands community. Young people in the Aru have been sharing their stories about the natural resources around them under threat from the power of private corporate capital with friends, family, and neighbours. The danger of deforestation by private corporations is a problem and a challenge that must be faced by all communities, whether they be Aru, Indonesian, or international, who care about the preservation of the forests in the Aru Islands as a “lung” of the world, helping to reduce the effects of global warming and the ozone depletion.

Abstract

This article examines dynamics of Islamic discourses in Post-New Order Indonesia, focusing on the birth of Jaringan Islam Liberal/JIL (Islamic Liberalism Network). The network which emerged in 2001 was a result of informal meeting and group discussions of young intellectuals at Jl. Utan Kayu 68 H, East Jakarta who later agreed to establish the JIL. Since its earliest foundation, the networks has been at the forefront to attack Islamic extremist and fundamentalist groups while calling for Islamic liberalism. This article tries to portray the emergence of the JIL and its liberalism agenda and offers the contestation on Islamic liberalism in Indonesia. As for the latter, it not only encapsulates responses of fundamentalist groups, but also important Muslim organisation, like the traditionalist Nahdlatul Ulama/NU and the Modernist Muhammadiyah, and important Indonesian Muslim thinkers. This article further argues that Islamic liberalism that takes its root to Muslim activism during the New Order Indonesia has shaken the basic foundation of religion as introducing liberalism in Islamic discourses. It has invited contestation and responses for a significant Muslim group, including the two-most important Indonesian Muslim organisations, the NU and the Muhammadiyah. As this article further demonstrates, the contestation is mainly because of different opinions among Muslims on the limit of reason to understand religion.

Abstract

Abstract:State-owned enterprises (SOEs or BUMN) companies need management which generally emphasizes governance which is more concerned with the principles of efficiency and effectiveness. In reality, it is evident that in Indonesia state-owned companies have an enormous economic and social role, and are an extraordinary force for the economic sector. In Singapore and Malaysia, SOEs also contribute greatly to economic activities. In Indonesia, SOEs are included in several diverse sectors or fields of business, from banking, energy, food, infrastructure, and transportation on sea, land, and air. A total of 118 SOEs in 2015 with a total asset of 5,395 trillion rupiahs would certainly be able to make a greater contribution to economic growth in 2016 if they can synergize in managing the business sector. SOEs' assets are also estimated to be greater through the SOE asset revaluation process. The Constitutional Court in case number 48 / PUU-XI / 2013 and case No. 62 / PUU-X1 / 2013 dated May 22, 2013, decided that management SOEs must use the principle of Business Judgment Rule. In the verdict, it is also stated that state-owned finances are state finance. As a result, this verdict brings legal certainty about the position of SOEs' finance. This paper explains that the development of state-owned enterprises-SOEs as a corporation that brings social and business missions is facing constitutional juridical problems and facing the challenges of globalization. Factually, at this time legal development cannot be separated from the influence of globalization. Globalization in the economic field has affected various fields of the business sector in the world. Keywords: State-Owned Enterprises; Globalization; Economic Law; Principle; Business Judgment Rule; Corporation; Indonesia.
