Abstract

Abstract

Authentic materials are learning materials that are not specifically created for educational purposes but are used in the real world, such as texts, audios, videos, and other sources (Fitria, 2022; Fitriana et al., 2019). Integrating Islamic contextual authentic material into English language learning can help students develop English language skills while strengthening their understanding of Islamic values in a global context. This study examines the integration of Islamic contextual authentic materials into English Language Learning for students of Islamic Community Development at the State Islamic University (UIN) Datokarama Palu, Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with two lecturers and nineteen students. The findings indicated that authentic materials grounded in Islamic contexts, such as the Qur’an and Hadith, videos, Islamic songs, and English texts on social issues related to Islamic themes, enhance students’ motivation, improve their linguistic skills, and strengthen their spiritual identity. However, challenges include a lack of suitable materials and difficulty balancing linguistic authenticity with religious sensitivity. The study recommends structured teacher training, institutional repositories of Islamic authentic materials, and curriculum guidelines aligning English learning with Islamic community development competencies.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between students' Emotional Intelligence (EI) and learning Achievement of students in the English Education Department Universitas Islam Makassar. This research used correlational design. And the total sampling used as the sample of this study amounted to 40 students. The data in this study were obtained using a questionnaire and documentation, utilizing a 33-item Likert scale questionnaire to assess Emotional Intelligence (EI). The data on students’ emotional intelligence and English academic achievement were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis through SPSS 30 to find out whether or not there was correlation between them. The final finding in this study shows that Pearson correlation analysis revealed no significant correlation between EI and GPA (r = .017, p > .05). This suggests that, within this specific population, cognitive factors may be more influential determinants of academic success than EI. Further research is recommended to explore other factors influencing academic achievement and to investigate potential differences in EI's impact across various student populations and educational contexts. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing a multimodal text approach in enhancing the teaching skills of Indonesian language teachers in Palu City. The multimodal text approach, which integrates visual, verbal, audio, and digital modes, is considered relevant to the demands of 21st-century learning and the Merdeka Curriculum that emphasizes creativity, interaction, and meaningful learning experiences. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method involving Indonesian language teachers at the junior high school level in Palu City as key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of supporting documents. The findings reveal that the use of multimodal texts has a positive impact on both the learning process and teachers’ instructional skills. Teachers become more creative, adaptive, and innovative in designing learning activities, as well as more capable of addressing students’ diverse learning needs. Learning becomes more engaging, interactive, and easier to understand through the support of visual, audio, and digital media. Additionally, the study identifies three emerging teacher habits: resilience in dealing with technological limitations, adaptability to digital changes, and transformative attitudes in developing more relevant and contextual teaching practices. However, several challenges persist, including limited technological devices, power disruptions, and unequal digital proficiency among teachers. Overall, the study confirms that the multimodal text approach is an effective strategy for improving the teaching skills of Indonesian language teachers and enhancing the quality of learning in the digital era. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for schools and policymakers to strengthen teacher competencies through adequate training and technological support.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) often faced challenges in designing effective promotional initiatives due to the limited use of systematic customer behavior analysis. This study examined the application of (Recency, Frequency, Monetary) RFM analysis combined with K-Means clustering to explore customer segmentation in a service-based MSME context. Transaction data from a local laundry service operating in Palu, Indonesia, consisting of 2,220 digital transaction records collected between 2022 and 2025, were processed and transformed into RFM variables using min–max normalization. The optimal number of clusters was determined using the Elbow method, resulting in four customer segments. Cluster quality was evaluated using internal validation metrics, yielding a Davies–Bouldin Index (DBI) of 0.61 and a Sum of Squared Errors (SSE) value of 1.73, indicating reasonably compact and well-separated clusters. The resulting segments exhibited distinct transactional profiles across recency, transaction frequency, and monetary contribution, reflecting heterogeneity in customer engagement within the studied MSME. Rather than prescribing specific marketing actions, the findings provided an interpretable analytical basis for considering differentiated promotional strategies aligned with observed customer behavior patterns. Overall, this study demonstrated that RFM-based segmentation offered a feasible and data-driven approach to supporting evidence-informed promotional planning in service-oriented MSMEs operating under data and resource constraints.
