Abstract

Syair Cermin Islam is a Malay oral text which contains Islamic teachings related to amar ma'ruf and nahi mungkar. This poetry text has elements of transcendence, namely going beyond human experience which is prophetic in nature. This research aims to describe the prophetic reality in the text of Syair Cermin Islam which is still relevant in today's modern world. This research uses a dynamic-structuralism (semiotic) approach and data analysis is carried out using content analysis techniques. The semiotic approach is a sign system approach. Signs in literary literature come in the form of texts, both within the text structure and outside the text structure. Of course it will contribute to the understanding of prophetic reality. The data analysis method refers to the process of determining the unit of analysis which consists of poetry text. The main findings in this research are: Firstly, prophetic reality in the aspect of meaning reconstruction and interpretation related to the transcendence of amar ma'ruf and nahi munkar, with divine awareness and longing for eternal life. Second, the prophetic reality in the liberation aspect is related to the relationship between actions and the consequences received for those actions. The essence of the findings from the analysis of the text of Syair Cermin Islam is in the form of a command to do good deeds and abandon bad deeds so that humans are safe in this world and in the afterlife.

Abstract

As social beings, we interact with others. One form of interaction is communicating. In communicating, we need language so that we can convey our ideas, thoughts, desires, intentions and goals to others. Language makes it easier for one to understand information, so that complex problems such as misunderstandings can be prevented with good interpersonal communication. The circumstances encountered can have an impact on the variations of language employed. Everyone will use a different style to express feelings of sadness, joy, anger, boredom or even interest. Like wise with someone who speaks or writes something to people they know and their best friends, children will speak in a different style. The focus of this research is to explore the variation of language used in the captions and comments in the Andrea's Tiktok account. The researchers used qualitative research methods in this research. To collect data, researchers read and then add the selected content to the favorite section for identification. There are 36 extracts collected from the selected contents on Andrea's Tiktok account. The manner of language used by Andrea and his followers was discussed based on the theory of Martin Joos (1976). In this case, the researchers found that Andrea used several language styles in writing captions and also comments by her followers. The language styles used are: Frozen Style, Formal Style, Consultative Style, Casual or informal Style and intimate Style. In other words, we need a variation of language in communication with the aim of making listeners or readers know how we convey things and can make a difference about people from their language style so that everyone has their own unique language style depending on their accents, the language of their surroundings or possibly influenced by their friends or family. Keywords : Communication, Language style, Frozen style, Formal style, Consultative style

Abstract

The language function is a meanings of communications besides that the function of language is used to convey intent or purpose when speaking by adjusting the context. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, in looking for two main focuses in this research, namely looking for types of language functions and the meaning of the use of language functions themselves which are analyzed in Card Fredricksen's conversation in the film Up 2009. This research uses Halliday's theory in 1992 which states that there are 7 types of language functions, namely instrumental function, regulatory function, heuristic function, representational function, interactional function, personal function and imaginative function. Research found that there were 21 extracts in the 2009 film Up, only five types of language functions were found out of seven types of language functions according to Halliday (1992). Two types of language functions that have not been discovered by researchers are personal functions and representational functions. In the instrumental function, there were 4 extracts found by researchers, found in extracts 1-4. Next, the regulatory function, researchers found that there were 11 extracts, this type was the most important. The next type is interactional function, researchers only found 4 extracts. while the heuristic function and imaginative function, researchers only found one of each of these two types. The heuristic function is found in extract 20 while the imaginative function is found in extract 21.Keywords: language, language function, movie, Disney, character.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how the flipped classroom fosters autonomous learning. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research involved 10 students from the English Education program. The findings identify three key patterns of autonomous learning in the flipped classroom: Pre-class preparation, active learning in class, and metacognitive development. Pre-class preparation allows students to engage with learning materials before class, helping them build foundational knowledge and identify areas for improvement. Active learning in class promotes interaction and critical thinking through collaborative activities, enabling students to apply their pre-class knowledge effectively. Metacognitive Development enhances students' ability to reflect, set learning goals, and regulate their learning strategies. To maximize the benefits of the flipped classroom, educators should design structured pre-class activities, facilitate interactive discussions, and encourage self-regulation strategies. By implementing these practices, students can develop greater autonomy, improve critical thinking skills, and become more engaged in their learning process.

Abstract

Along with the development of the era, there have been many fish floss, kricu, kretek manufacturers that have used machines. However, there are still many machines that use combustion engines, which make workers uncomfortable because the engine is very wasteful of fuel and pollutes the air. And here the author wants to modify the wasteful and polluting combustion engine with an electric motor that is safe and does not pollute pollution. The implementation method used in making this final project is with the stages of the implementation process in the form of a flowchart including problem identification, data collection through surveys and literature studies, working drawings, machine manufacturing, machine assembly and testing. Based on the results obtained, a fish grinder machine uses a 6.5 HP electric motor with 3600 Rpm as the drive system. The transmission system used in this machine is a pulley and V-belt, and uses a horizontal system with a screw as a dough crusher. From the results of the machine test without load, all components in the animal feed crusher machine function properly. The machine test with a load shows that this machine is capable of making feed with a capacity of 55 kg / hour. This machine can be a solution for employees to overcome difficulties in the manual grinding process, as well as increase efficiency and productivity in the dough.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the evaluation imbalance between cognitive and affective domains in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and formulate evaluation strategies based on Pancasila values to support the formation of students' religious and nationalist characters. Using a qualitative approach based on literature study and critical analysis of educational evaluation theory and practice, this study evaluates the synergy between PAI and Pancasila values in the context of learning and assessment. The results showed that: (1) PAI evaluation so far is still dominated by the cognitive domain and tends to ignore affective aspects, thus risking to hinder the internalisation of Pancasila values in learners' characters; (2) there is a strong conceptual alignment between Islamic teachings and Pancasila values, which demands the integration of both in learning evaluation instruments; (3) affective assessment has proven to be important in shaping nationalist and religious characters, but its implementation is still limited due to lack of policy support and teacher competence; and (4) the development of evaluation instruments based on Pancasila values, such as portfolios and reflective assessments, is an innovative solution that requires strengthening teacher capacity and adequate technical guidelines so that it can be implemented effectively and sustainably. This study recommends a transformation of the PAI evaluation paradigm towards a more holistic, integrative, and character-orientated approach in accordance with the noble values of Pancasila.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to investigate rhetorical moves employed in high-reputable ELT research article abstracts; (2) to investigate research gap strategies employed in high-reputable ELT research article abstracts; (3) to explore how do authors establish rhetorical moves and research gap strategies using linguistic features in high-reputable ELT research article abstracts. This research involved mixed method analysis. The source of the data consisted of 100 research article abstracts published in high-reputable journals. The researcher applied Hyland’s (2000) framework for analyzing rhetorical moves and Arianto’s (2021) framework for analyzing research gap strategies. The researcher read and code each of the segments within the abstract that characterize each of the moves. The result of this research reveals that: (1) the most frequent move was product moves with the most frequent moves pattern I-P-M-Pr-C; (2) the most frequent research gap strategy was the strategy-2 (revealing limitation of the previous research); (3) the linguistic features addressed in rhetorical moves and research gap strategies were indicated by the using of discourse markers, phrases, and tenses emerged in every segment within the abstracts. The researcher found newly emerged form within the product moves, called as ‘evaluating findings’ which may be worth considering for the future studies. The researcher also suggests the future researchers to explore the study of centrality claims or any promotional techniques used by authors in promoting research articles through abstracts.
