Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground. Community service program is a place for students to apply the knowledge and skills obtained in the lecture bench directly to the community. One form of community service carried out by community service program students is the development of tahfidz houses.Purpose. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the community service program program in fostering Rumah Tahfidz to facilitate learning of the Qur'an and produce a generation of Qur'an memorizers.Method. This study uses a qualitative approach with case studies, involving data collection through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with community service program participants and the management of the Al-Qur'an Tahfidz House.Results. The results of this study indicate that the community service program is effective in improving understanding and memorization of the Qur'an among children, by increasing active participation in learning activities and religious life. Conclusion. The construction of a tahfidz house is one of the community service program programs that is useful and can be used as a model in implementing religious values in the daily lives of the younger generation.

Abstract

Background. Vocabulary limitations were identified as a major barrier to students' communication skills and language learning.Purpose. To improve students' vocabulary mastery at Adameesuksavittaya School, Krabi, Thailand, with a focus on Arabic language mastery. Vocabulary limitations were identified as a major barrier to students' communication skills and language learning. Method. With a qualitative case study approach, vocabulary cards were applied as a supplementary learning method. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of this method.Results. The results showed significant improvements in vocabulary mastery, student engagement in learning, and students' confidence in using Arabic. Vocabulary cards were not only effective in classroom learning but also supported language use in daily interactions. Teachers and students gave positive responses, with this method creating a more interesting and interactive learning atmosphere.Conclusion. This study concludes that vocabulary cards are an effective tool to improve students' vocabulary mastery and communication skills, and recommends its use in other educational settings. Further research is recommended to explore the application of this method in various educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal: 1) Mahmud Yunus' thoughts on the application of the Eclectic Method to teaching Arabic language material, 2) the reflection of Mahmud Yunus' thoughts on the implementation of the Eclectic method of teaching Arabic material at the Darus Salam Gontor Islamic boarding school. This study used a qualitative design, with two approaches; 1) literature study on Mahmud Yunus's thoughts on the Eclectic Method and 2) case study on discussing the implementation of the Eclectic Method in Mahmud Yunus' perspective. The research data were obtained using documentation, observation, and in-depth interviews. The data is then validated for correctness, suitability and reliability through data triangulation. The findings of this study illustrate that; (1) according to Mahmud Yunus that each branch of the Arabic language material is taught with various methods while still centered on one method (direct method), (2) The implementation of Arabic teaching methods at Pondok Gontor Sembilan shows conformity with Mahmud Yunus's thoughts on aspects of combining methods which is in line with the direct method in a systematic and tiered manner.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the environment-based students’ motivation to learn Arabic in Islamic Boarding schools in West Sumatra. Motivation is seen from its intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. This research employed qualitative approach with data collection techniques carried out by observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques were carried out by triangulation of observational data, document analysis, documentation, and descriptive statistic. The findings indicate that Islamic boarding schools in West Sumatra were employing environment-based Arabic learning and it was evident that the approach improves students’ speaking skills and generates motivation to them. Intrinsic motivation encourages student to speak arabic, which is indicated by the  desire to discuss arabic languange materials and is categorized as “ very well ”.“ student learning desire”was also raised on the aspek “seriousness of doing learning tasks” which is showing at the “very well”category, and on the aspect of “students’ desire to progress” showed the “good” category.  In short, the environmental approach sheds light on learning Arabic as it improves students’ engagement in speaking Arabic.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has significantly influenced various aspects of education, including language learning. Among the emerging trends in modern education, the use of social media as a language learning tool has become increasingly prominent. However, limited research has examined its direct impact on students’ writing skills, vocabulary acquisition, and learning motivation in Arabic. This study aims to investigate and analyze the influence of social media use on writing skills, vocabulary development, and the motivation of Arabic language learners. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative analysis of free writing samples from 40 students in the Arabic Language Education program at STAIN Mandailing Natal, selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate a significant improvement in writing abilities, particularly in sentence structure, vocabulary choice, and grammatical accuracy, following Arabic language learning through social media. This improvement is attributed to the contextual and communicative learning environment that social media platforms provide, which supports the development of students’ writing abilities. Moreover, students demonstrated notable vocabulary acquisition through active engagement on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Their motivation to learn Arabic also increased, as evidenced by a stronger desire to continue their language studies. In conclusion, the integration of social media into language learning can enhance students’ writing performance, broaden vocabulary mastery, and boost motivation. The study recommends further exploration of technology-based language learning methods to optimize Arabic education at the tertiary level. التطور السريع في التكنولوجيا يؤثّر بشكل كبير على مختلف جوانب التعليم، بما في ذلك تعلم اللغات. ومن بين الاتجاهات الناشئة في التعليم الحديث، أصبح استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي كأداة تعليمية للغة أكثر بروزًا. ومع ذلك، لا تزال الدراسات التي تتناول التأثير المباشر لهذا الاستخدام على مهارة الكتابة، واكتساب المفردات، ودافعية الطلاب في تعلم اللغة العربية محدودة. يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة تأثير استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي على مهارة الكتابة، وتطوير المفردات، ودافعية طلاب اللغة العربية. استخدم البحث منهجية مختلطة، تجمع بين الاستبيانات الكمية والتحليل النوعي لعينات الكتابة الحرة من أربعين طالبًا في برنامج تعليم اللغة العربية في جامعة STAIN Mandailing Natal ، والذين تم اختيارهم باستخدام أسلوب العَيِّنَة القَصْدِيّة. أظهرت النتائج تحسنًا ملحوظًا في مهارة الكتابة، خاصة في بناء الجمل، واختيار المفردات، ودقة القواعد، بعد المشاركة في تعلم اللغة العربية باستخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي. ويُعزى ذلك إلى أن وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي توفّر بيئة تعليمية سياقية وتواصلية تُسهم في تطوير مهارات الكتابة لدى الطلاب. كما اكتسب الطلاب مفردات جديدة بشكل ملحوظ من خلال تفاعلهم على منصات التواصل مثل تيك توك، وإنستغرام، وفيسبوك. وزادت دافعيتهم نحو تعلم اللغة العربية، مما يدل على رغبتهم المتزايدة في مواصلة دراسة اللغة. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن دمج وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي في تعليم اللغة يمكن أن يعزز مهارات الكتابة، ويوسّع المفردات، ويزيد من دافعية الطلاب. ويوصي البحث بمزيد من الاستكشاف لطرق التعلم القائمة على التكنولوجيا لتعزيز تعليم اللغة العربية في التعليم العالي.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of ChatGPT for education in the Education 5.0 era in improving reading skills. ChatGPT can answer questions humanely, just like Google Nest; only Google Nest requires machines or tools like regular Google. This research uses quantitative methods, data obtained through interviews, and questionnaire distribution. Distribution of questionnaires using Google forms. The research results show that using ChatGPT for education in the Education Era 5.0 can benefit students, as evidenced by increased reading skills. From this research it can concluded that the use of ChatGPT for education has proven to be effective and efficient, the research proves this results that 80% of students have the highest scores. The limitation of this research is that the researcher only researched the use of ChatGPT for education in the Education Era 5.0 even though there are still many uses of other media that can be used as alternatives in improving students' reading skills.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to determine the need for UNO Card media for vocabulary teaching in reading among students at MTsN 7 Lima Puluh Kota, (2) to ascertain the validation of UNO Cards at MTsN 7 Lima Puluh Kota, (3) to determine the practicality of using UNO Cards at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) 7 Lima Puluh Kota. The method used in this research is developmental research (R&D). The development model used is the 4-D design: Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. The results of this study are as follows: (1) UNO cards are beneficial and meet the needs of teachers in teaching vocabulary for reading Arabic texts. (2) The validation results of UNO Cards indicate they are highly valid with the following details: (a) Methodology expert validation with a percentage of 92% and the score is very accurate, (b) language expert validation at 80% and the score is correct, (c) and validation by subject matter experts at 95%, and the score is very accurate. The overall results indicate that the product validation shows an average score of 89%. This score indicates that the UNO card design is highly valid. (3) The results of using UNO cards are (a) teacher questionnaire responses at 92% and (b) student questionnaire responses at 94%, both indicating that the cards are convenient.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the process of supporting Arabic learning using the Zoom Meet learning media. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach. Research explains that Zoom Meet has excellent potential to support Arabic learning during the Covid-19 period. The research subjects were lecturers and students from the Arabic language education State Institute for Islamic Studies Batusangkar. There is documentary evidence from this research in the form of photo screenshots when using the Zoom Meet learning media; with this, it can be expected to find out how influential Zoom Meet is in learning Arabic courses. This study concluded that there are several responses regarding the classification, which will be negative and positive responses, which will describe the weaknesses and shortcomings of the Zoom Meet learning media. Through observations and interviews with lecturers and students of the Arabic language education study program, it is clear that the Zoom Meet media is an alternative media in supporting Arabic learning during the Covid-19.

Abstract

Carrying out the duties of an educator in the 21st century, particularly at the higher education level, requires the ability to develop educational skills in conjunction with advanced technological products in the form of digital applications to support learning activities. One such application is the Android-based animation video application, Plotagon Story. This study aims to determine the level of student motivation in learning Arabic using the Plotagon application. The research method used is qualitative, utilizing questionnaires distributed to respondents. The results of this study indicate that Android-based animation videos using the Plotagon Story application can provide motivation and enthusiasm for students in learning Arabic. The implications of these findings are that the Plotagon application can increase student motivation in learning Arabic and enhance their creativity and ability to meet the challenges of mastering technology-based learning media integrated with good language proficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness and practicality of Canva applications that can be used online in Video format. The video is developed as a learning medium during distance learning for Arabic language learning. The method used in this study is the R & D (Research and Development) method by following the Borg and Gall models. This research model has ten steps of development, these are: 1) Research and information collection, 2) Planning, 3) Develop a preliminary form of product, 4) Preliminary field testing, 5) Main product revision, 6) Main field testing, 7) Operation product revision, 8) Operational field testing, 9) Final product revision, 10) Dissemination and implementation. This study only comes to the sixth step which at that step focuses only on field trials. The results of the field trials are the results of content verification on audiovisual learning media using the Canva application for distance learning with an average of 4.66 or in an excellent category with a maximum score of 5.00. While the average field test score on students' responses to learning media using the Canva app for distance learning is 3.78 and the maximum score is 5.00.
