Abstract

Effective marine environmental monitoring is critical for ensuring navigational safety, with LoRa technology emerging as a promising solution due to its long-range, low-power capabilities. However, the performance of LoRa networks heavily depends on strategic gateway placement, a task often performed manually, leading to suboptimal coverage. This study addresses this challenge by implementing and validating a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to determine the optimal placement of gateways for a real-world network of 157 marine buoys in the Madura Strait. The PSO algorithm, configured with 30 particles and 100 iterations, was benchmarked against a baseline manual selection method based on geographic centrality. Results demonstrate a significant performance gain: the PSO-optimized configuration achieved 100% network coverage (157 buoys), a 34.2% increase over the 117 buoys covered by the manual method. These findings confirm that employing PSO for gateway placement substantially enhances network efficiency and data reliability, highlighting its value for creating robust and scalable marine IoT applications.

Abstract

Background: Parenting styles influence sleep routines and problems in children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); sleep quality includes efficiency, latency, duration, and wakefulness after onset. This study explores the experience of implementing bedtime routines based on caregiver parenting styles and their implications for the sleep quality of children with ADHD. Methods: Qualitative study with a phenomenological approach; non-probability sampling (purposive sampling). Participants consisted of 8 caregivers (mothers, aunts, grandmothers) of children with ADHD at YPAC Surakarta; semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted 2–3 times per participant and analyzed thematically with credibility and confirmability tests. Results: Three main themes emerged: (1) Caregiver parenting styles (implementation and influence on sleep), (2) Types of parenting styles based on Baumrind's aspects, (3) Sleep quality of children with ADHD (sleep quality, sleep problems, supporting factors). Authoritarian parenting was linked to a stable sleep schedule but had no impact on efficiency; democratic parenting influenced emotional regulation; permissive parenting had no apparent effect on sleep quality; neglectful parenting was associated with sleep-onset insomnia without a clear cause. Conclusion: Variations in parenting styles result in different profiles of impact on sleep quality indicators. Education and harmonization of parenting styles are recommended in pediatric occupational therapy services.

Abstract

Speech emotional recognition (SER) is one of the interesting research areas of human-computer interaction (HCI) systems. The objective of this study is to provide a basis for a basic model of Indonesian-language speech emotional recognition, which is achieved by utilizing dialogues from an Indonesian-language movie.  The process began by developing a dataset from film dialogue and grouping it into four emotion classes: angry, happy, neutral, and sad. The development of the datasheet produced 5049 data points consisting of 1202 for anger, 1228 for happy, 2075 for neutral, and 899 for sad. This study uses the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) method to analyze audio features from Indonesian-language movies and employs a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for clustering. The process began with MFCC feature extraction. During training, an accuracy of 85.85% was achieved, and during testing, 83.35%. Based on a series of tests carried out with various improvements to the previous process, a description of this system's behavior is obtained from a confusion matrix. Angry, happy, and sad expressions are easier to recognize than neutral expressions. The behavior of neutral expressions is flat in energy levels and other features. In the future, we hope it can be developed into a cross-corpus model and applied to speakers from various cultures.

Abstract

Autopilot is a system control application on moving vehicles such as airplanes, helicopters, or boat, which serves to stabilize the direction of motion in the desired time and the programmed path's direction. the autopilot control system is controlled by a series of microcontrollers and GPS that has the function to be able to determine and the desired object. This control system is designed with electrical system controls that utilize microcontrollers, sensor  and GPS as control media. The development of autopilot prototypes is used for testing new control algorithms and the reliability of other electronic components such as sensors and microprocessors. A control system is needed to control the boat to its destination. The relatively accurate system dynamics model affects the steering performance of the autopilot system. The system in question can be considered a boat with an actuator rudder, which experiences external disturbances. this system is broadly divided into two parts: the control station part and the autonomous boat part. These two parts communicate with each other using LoRa device. The data sent from the control station to the autonomous boat is target latitude and longitude coordinates. The autonomous boat will send feedback in the form of boat latitude and longitude coordinates so that users can find out the current location of the boat. Autonomous Boat also provides feedback to the control station via LoRa in the form of boat coordinates so that users can find out the current location of the boat and whether the boat has reached the specified coordinates. The control station will send feedback from the boat to a database that can be monitored via the website to find out the boat's current condition on the website. Based on the  results that have been obtained in the analysis and testing of the system. GPS sensor used in autonomous boat Ublox NEO-7m has an accuracy level with an average distance value of 3.220921 meters with the lowest cold start time of 7 seconds.  Compass sensor used in autonomous boat CMPS11 has an accuracy level with an average value of 3.041667 degrees. Communication distance between autonomous boat and control station using LoRa with 5dBi antenna can reach 1406.79 meters in condition without obstruction between nodes.  Data delivery system can be successfully sent from user to autonomout boat and sending feedback back to user. Delay update of boat coordinate data on interface has the lowest average of 30.8 seconds. Based on turning circle test results, autonomous boat is able to create imperfect circles with a radius of 8,364 m.

Abstract

In this decade, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology has been widely applied in various modern wireless communication systems.  OFDM is used to provide high-speed data transmission that is resistant to multipath interference and offers relatively high spectrum efficiency. In this study, an OFDM system prototype equipped with a Huffman Encoder and Decoder, Convolutional Coder, and Viterbi decoder was developed. The OFDM system that has been created is implemented using a Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) device to transmit image data. From the test results, it was found that the OFDM system that has been created and implemented using USRP is capable of transmitting image data well. From visual observation, there were no errors in receiving the transmitted image data. The image received at the receiver was the same shape and size as the image transmitted by the transmitter. The received image was clear, with no image defects such as scratches or mosaics at the measurement distance. A Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of more than 30 dB was obtained under line of sight conditions with a measurement distance of 60 cm between the transmitter and receiver. The SNR decreased gradually with increasing measurement distance, reaching approximately 27 dB at a measurement distance of 300 cm between the transmitter and receiver.

Abstract

Mass circumcision often induces anxiety in children, potentially affecting their experience and recovery process. This community service initiative aimed to optimize children's mental preparedness and reduce pre-mass circumcision anxiety through educational and interactive play interventions. The activity took place in Nagwen Village, Klaten Regency, Central Java, involving 41 children aged 7-11 years. The approach employed included interactive educational sessions on the circumcision procedure, its benefits, and strategies for managing discomfort, interspersed with relevant educational games. Additionally, simple relaxation techniques and open question-and-answer sessions were implemented to create a safe and comfortable environment for the children.Observational results indicated an increase in children's understanding of the circumcision process and a significant reduction in anxiety indicators, such as restlessness and repetitive questioning. Children appeared calmer, more cooperative, and enthusiastic, and were able to undergo the circumcision procedure smoothly. Most experienced moderate anxiety with an average score of 6.97, as measured by a self-assessment questionnaire. This program demonstrates that education presented in an enjoyable manner, combined with interactive play, is highly effective in preparing children psychologically for circumcision. The recommendation for this activity is to integrate similar methods into every mass circumcision event to ensure a positive experience and support children's psychological well-being
