Abstract

The aims of this study were to: 1) generate interactive multimedia of colloidal system which is suitable to be implemented in schools, and to test the effectiveness of the interactive multimedia by: 2) knowing whether critical thinking skill of students who use context-based interactive multimedia is better than critical thinking skill of students who do not use context-based interactive multimedia on subject matter of the colloidal system. The method used in this study was research and development (R&D) according to the model of Borg & Gall’s development. The results of the expert validation by 4 validators and limited testing by 10 students showed that the interactive multimedia was very suitable to be used, with scores of 4.21 and 4.36 for expert validation and limited testing, respectively. Field trial  using a non-equivalent control group design with 2 class samples, resulted in the critical thinking skill of probability value of 0.00 (p < 0.05). From this research we can conclude that: 1) context-based interactive multimedia can be developed by means of analyzing the materials in each sub materials as the basis for developing primary form of product, then tested for it’s feasibility, effectiveness, and revised through an expert validation, limited field testing, and main field testing, consecutively, so that the resulting product is considered to be suitable for learning process, and 3) critical thinking skill of students who use context-based interactive multimedia is better than critical thinking skill of students who do not use context-based interactive multimedia on the subject matter of the colloidal system. Keywords: interactive multimedia, context learning, concept mastery, critical thinking skill

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of science process skills to improve chemistry learning outcomes at SMK Negeri 3 Mataram. This study used a quasi-experimental design with pre-test post-test control group design. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling technique. The research sample for the experimental class were 37 students and 37 students in the control class. Data were retreived using multiple choice test that has been tested for its validity. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05. N-Gain value calculation was also used to determine the chemistry learning outcome. The result showed that value of N-Gain in the experimental and control group were 0,45 and 0,42 respectively. The results showed that the science process skills approach increased students learning outcomes to medium category. The results of the t-test in both groups were shown not to be significant (α = 0.05). It can be concluded that there is no significant learning outcomes improvement of experimental group in comparison to the control group.Keywords: Science process skills, Learning outcomes

Abstract

Synthesis of Barium M-Hexaferrite (BaFe12-xNixO19) nickel metal doping have been done with co-precipitation method and its effect on temperature changes and substitution dopants. Basic materials used in the synthesis of BaCO3, FeCl3.6H2O, HCl, NH4OH and nickel metal. The process of synthesis of barium M-heksaferit conducted at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Analytical Laboratories Unram. This study used a variation of calcination temperature of 80, 400, 600 and 800°C for 4 hours with a variety of dopants 0; 0.4; 0.7 and 0.9. Synthesis results show that changes in the concentration of the dopant variables and calcination temperature indicate a tendency to change color to brown-black powder.Abstract: Barium Mhexaferrite, dopant, nickel, co-precipitation.

Abstract

Lipases are versatile enzymes with high specificity toward lipid substrate. They have many industrial applications, such as in food, pharmacy, and green fuel. So far, most explored lipases are from microbial and animal sources, whereas those from plants are less studied. The present study aims to characterize ketapang (Terminalia catappa Linn) lipase. The lipase was isolated from germinating ketapang seeds. The activity was determined by hydrolysis of virgin coconut oil (VCO). Biochemical characterization of ketapang lipase includes the optimum temperature, pH, kinetics, metal ions addition, and analysis of substrate specificity. It was shown that ketapang lipase has an optimum temperature of 45 oC, pH 7.5. Ca2+ increases the lipase activity, whereas Na+, K+, Mg2+, Zn2+, Fe2+, and Cu2+ inhibit ketapang lipase to various extents. A comparison of SDS-PAGE and native-PAGE analysis showed that ketapang lipase consists of several protein subunits. A further test by in-gel assay revealed that the 54 kDa, 35 kDa, two bands at ~16 kDa, and 12 kDa proteins showed lipolytic activity against a-naphthyl palmitate substrate. When tested on various chromogenic fatty acid substrates, ketapang lipase showed the highest specificity against short-chain fatty acids (C4 and C8), despite the fact that ketapang oil seed composes mainly of long fatty acid (C18). Since lipases that have high lipolytic activity toward short fatty acids are considered esterases, the esterase activity of ketapang lipase is yet to be determined.

Abstract

Chemical analysis has been undertaken to investigate the nutrients compositions and the presence of residual pesticides from rice cultivated from converted-to-organic paddy fields in Lombok Island. The nutrients being investigated were macronutrients (carbohydrates, fat, and proteins), micronutrients (beta-carotene), metal ions, and minerals, whereas pesticides being investigated were organo-chlorides residues such as endrin, delta-BHC, dieldrin, etc. The chemical analysis results were compared to those from rice cultivated from conventional farming, which uses chemical pesticides. It was revealed that there is no difference in the nutrients compositions of rice produced from converted-to-organic paddy fields to those from conventional farming. Moreover, it was shown that both rice samples from converted-to-organic and conventional farming paddy fields have no detectable residual pesticides. This finding suggests that the absence of residual pesticides from rice samples does not necessarily correspond to the application of organic farming in the converted-to-organic land. There is not robust evidence that the application of organic alters the nutrient composition of rice. This result also underlines the need to further investigate the real benefits of organic rice farming products in terms of nutritional composition and safety.

Abstract

Tantangan revolusi industri 4.0 di bidang pendidikan harus menghasilkan sumber daya manusia yang memiliki keterampilan abad 21, yaitu 4C (Creative, Critical thinking & problem solving, Collaboration, and Communication) karena keterampilan tersebut dapat membentuk manusia yang memiliki kemampuan bersaing di dunia kerja. Selain itu juga kualitas pendidikan masih tergolong rendah, hal ini menjadi penghambat untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan yang berkelanjutan (ESDGs). Guru dituntut untuk melek terhadap teknologi. Pembelajaran harus memanfaatkan media. Pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media dapat meningkatkan minat dan motivasi belajar peserta didik. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam modul elektronik (E-modul) berbasis socio scientific issue (SSI) terintegrasi kearifan lokal. Peserta diberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan secara intensif mulai dari petunjuk penggunaan, hingga cara penggunaan e-modul berbasis SSI terintegrasi kearifan lokal. Kegiatan pengabdian ini akan dilaksanakan secara 3 tahap yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Penggunaan e-modul IPA berbasis SSI dianggap mampu untuk menjawab keresahan dari guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran sesuai dengan implementasi kurikulum merdeka belajar di sekolah. E-modul IPA berbasis SSI dapat mentransferkan peran dan fungsi konten dalam belajar mengajar menjadi luwes dan fleksibel. Manfaat secara nyata bahwa, siswa lebih mudah mengakses panduan belajar dan termotivasi untuk belajar lebih baik. Penggunaan e-modul IPA berbasis SSI dalam pembelajaran akan mempermudah guru untuk menyampaikan materi ajar ke siswa, siswa dapat membaca kapanpun dan dimanapun dengan menggunakan bantuan aplikasi atau web yang dapat diakses menggunakan handpone.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a lesson using the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) approach to students' understanding of chemistry concepts in terms of gender differences. The research method uses a quasi-experimental design by conducting pretest and posttest during learning. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were 71 students of class XI MIPA 3 and XI MIPA 4 at Terara 1 Public High School, consisting of 36 students in class XI MIPA 3 as the experimental class and 35 students in class XI MIPA 4 as the control class. The data collection technique for this study used multiple choice questions and a questionnaire that had gone through validation tests and reliability tests to get students' understanding of chemistry concepts. The hypothesis test shows moderate criteria and the effect size test obtains a value of 0.3 with moderate criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the STEM approach affects students' understanding of concepts and gender does not affect students' understanding of concepts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen semu dengan tujuan mengetahui adanya pengaruh model PjBL (Project Based Learning) berbasis STEM (Sains, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) terhadap peningkatan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Narmada pada materi asam dan basa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu non-equivalent control group design. Sampel pada penelitian ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Populasi yang dipilih adalah semua siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 1 Narmada yang berjumlah 213 siswa, sedangkan sampelnya diperoleh siswa kelas XI IPA 5 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan siswa kelas XI IPA 4 sebagai kelompok kontrol. Instrumen pada penelitian ini yaitu instrumen tes berupa soal uraian yang terdiri dari 8 soal. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan beberapa uji, anatra lain uji N-Gain, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas varians dan uji hipotesis (uji-t) dua pihak menggunakan rumus uji-t polled varians. Berdasrkan hasil uji-t diperoleh thitung sebesar 4,06 dan ttabel sebesar 1,99 pada dk sebesar 69 dengan taraf signifikan 5%. Karena thitung lebih besar dari ttabel maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima yang artinya model PjBL (Project Based Learning) berbasis STEM (Sains Technology Engineering and Mathematics) berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Narmada pada materi asam dan basa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi dan pengelolaan laboratorium kimia serta pelaksanaan praktikum kimia di SMA Negeri MA di Lombok Timur tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui angket dan wawancara yang melibatkan guru kimia, kepala laboratorium, asisten laboratorium, dan siswa. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif dalam bentuk persentase. Interpretasi data menggunakan 5 kriteria (sangat baik, baik, cukup, kurang, sangat kurang). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan praktikum kimia di MAN 1 Lombok Timur dan MAN 2 Lombok Timur berada pada kategori “Sangat Baik”, sedangkan di MAN IC Lombok Timur berada pada kategori “Baik”. Pengelolaan laboratorium di ketiga sekolah tersebut berada pada kategori “Sangat Baik” dengan total nilai rata-rata sebesar 92,42%. Namun, kelengkapan laboratorium di MAN IC masih kurang memadai dan berada pada kategori “Cukup”. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa kendala utama dalam pengelolaan laboratorium antara lain keterbatasan peralatan dan sumber daya manusia, khususnya asisten laboratorium. Meskipun terdapat beberapa kendala, namun pelaksanaan praktikum dan manajemen laboratorium di SMA MA Negeri Lombok Timur secara umum sudah berjalan dengan baik.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning difficulties of students that need to be overcome in understanding the concept of reaction rate chemistry in class XI science SMA Negeri 1 Labuapi. The approach used is a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this study are all students of class XI science of SMA Negeri 1 Labuapi, with samples selected using the nonprobability sampling method of saturation sampling. Data collection was carried out through a closed questionnaire on a likert scale of 5 and interviews. Data interpretation refers to five categories of learning difficulties, namely very high, high, moderately high, low, and very low, which are determined based on simple percentages and tables. The results of the data analysis showed that: 1) Students who experienced difficulties with internal factors included aspects of student ability 38.7%, student interest 37.5%, understanding of reaction rate material concepts 30%, student motivation 27.5%, included in the low category while external factors with aspects of approach/learning model 35%, teaching resources 23% were in the low category, and teachers 17%, class conditions 15% were in the very low category 2) Students' learning difficulties in understanding the concept of reaction rate chemistry that need to be considered are internal factors of student ability indicators (38.75%) and external factors in learning approaches/model indicators (35%).
