Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis morfem infleksional dan derivasional yang terdapat pada teks deskriptif siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 10 Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengkaji jenis-jenis morfem infleksi dan derivasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan tes tertulis sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan kondensasi data, data display, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat jenis infleksional, yaitu jamak, progresif, posesif, dan orang ketiga tunggal. Kemudian, ada empat jenis derivasional yaitu pembentukan kata benda, pembentukan kata kerja, pembentukan kata sifat, dan pembentukan kata keterangan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketidakfasihan yang dilakukan oleh pembawa acara dan bintang tamu di YouTube Vindes yang diwakili oleh transkrip Vindes. Ketidakfasihan sering terjadi pada ucapan spontan. Teori yang mendukung tesis ini adalah teori yang dikemukakan oleh Gilquin dan Bloodstein;. Analisis berfokus pada jenis ketidakfasihan yaitu jeda senyap, jeda terisi, pengulangan, dan awal yang salah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis ketidaklancaran yang terdapat dalam talkshow, (2) untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis ketidaklancaran yang dominan. Tesis ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif Meleong. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan dalam analisis ini adalah mengumpulkan data dengan mengunduh video talkshow, menyalin data, mengidentifikasi ketidaklancaran, mengklasifikasikan ketidaklancaran, menghitung jenis ketidaklancaran yang dominan, dan menyimpulkan analisis. Hasil analisis diperoleh jumlah ketidakfasihan yang dilakukan oleh penutur sebanyak 125. Pengulangan terjadi sebanyak 29 kali yaitu 23,2%, jeda diam sebanyak 36 kali yaitu 28,8%, jeda terisi sebanyak 56 kali yaitu 44,8%, dan awal yang salah sebanyak 4 kali yaitu 3,2 %. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa repetisi lebih dominan dibandingkan dengan tipe lainnya. Penyebab ketidaklancaran adalah karena kesulitan kognitif. Pembicara membutuhkan waktu lebih lama untuk menghasilkan kata dari kalimat untuk topik abstrak dibandingkan dengan topik konkrit. Penutur mengalami ketidakfasihan bicara akibat kesulitan mereka dalam menemukan kata yang tepat. Kemudian berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini disarankan kepada peneliti selanjutnya untuk menggunakan metode ini, dan menggunakan temuan tersebut sebagai dasar untuk melakukan desain penelitian lainnya.

Abstract

This research discusses the analysis of metaphors contained in the lyrics of James Arthur's song on his 3rd album entitled "You" in 2019. The purpose of this study is to classify the types of metaphors and see the most dominant types of metaphors. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. The data this research underline song lyrics that contain metaphors. The song lyrics are taken from James Arthur’s YouTube account and also from the Google site obtained on March 26, 2024, at 08.00 pm. The data collection instruments used were observation and documentation. Data were obtained from 12 James Arthur songs. The author found 85 data in James' song lyrics. The types of metaphors contained in James Arthur's song lyrics are active metaphor 19 data, inactive metaphor 11 data, subjective metaphor 25 data, asymmetric metaphor 10 data, dead metaphor 11 data, and mimetic metaphor 9 data. The most dominant type is subjective metaphor, which is 25 data. Therefore, subjective metaphor is found more in 12 songs of James Arthur in his 3rd album “You” in 2019. The benefits of this research for the state and nation, especially in the field of teaching is that teachers can teach using subjective metaphors, that is teaching or interacting with students by using more feelings in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how is the experiential function realized in the report text writing of students in the second grade at SMA Buddhis Bodhicitta Meda, and what is the most dominant process found in the report text writing of students in the second grade at SMA Buddhist Bodhicitta Medan. This study used a qualitative descriptive method in analyzing data. Data was taken from the writings of 33 students as data. The data used is 486 clauses consisting of 6 processes which are experiential functions. From the data obtained, material processes were obtained 246 times (50.6%), mental processes 22 times (4.5%), relational processes 22 times (41.8%), behavioral processes 1 time (0.2%), verbal process 5 times (1%), and the last is existential process 9 times (1.9%). In this study, material processes were the most widely found or predominantly experiential function process type used by students in their report text writing. The realization of such a process of experiential functioning is most widely used by students because the error use of chosen verb in report text writing based on the lexicogrammatical features. Each student uses the process of such an experiential function to indicate something that depends on the intent to be conveyed. This type of process experiential function is used to describe an ongoing event by using action verbs in its description according to the social function of the report text.

Abstract

This research delves into the speaking challenges faced by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at SMA Swasta Dharma Karya Beringin in the academic year 2024/2025, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the linguistic and psychological obstacles hindering students' proficiency in spoken English. By integrating psycholinguistic and language learning theories, the study explores how psychological factors and effective language acquisition strategies influence language learning processes. Through interviews and tests with twelfth-grade students, the research focuses on identifying specific challenges in linguistic discourse engagement and investigating factors contributing to these difficulties, such as fear of mistakes, shyness, and language proficiency issues. The study aims to offer recommendations to enhance students' speaking abilities, contributing to a nuanced understanding of language acquisition and psychological aspects in the educational context, with the ultimate goal of improving EFL students' speaking skills at SMA Swasta Dharma Karya Beringin.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the textual function of the theme types in Luke Chapter 17 of the English Standard Version bible texts on the ESV.org website. The data of this study were English Standard Version (ESV) clauses consisting of 56 clauses from 5 subtopics of Luke Chapter 17, which were analyzed using the qualitative descriptive method because it explains the textual function of biblical texts. The data source for this research is the text of the 2016 edition of the English Standard Version (ESV) Bible on the online Bible site ESV.org. The Gospel of Luke, chapter 17, consists of five subtitles: (1) Temptation to Sin, (2) Increase Our Faith, (3) Unworthy Servants, (4) Jesus Cleanses Ten Lepers, and (5) The Coming of the Kingdom. The theory used in this study is Halliday's Systemic Functional Linguistics. The technical model approach for data analysis in this study is Eggins (2004) regarding (1) four types of themes; (2) theme analysis in declarative sentences; (3) theme analysis in declarative ellipses; (4) theme analysis in the WH interrogative; (5) analysis of themes in imperatives; (6) the theme in the paratactic clause complex; (7) the theme in the hypotactic clause complex; and (8) three types of additions. The results of this study are: 1) four types of themes, namely: (1) topical themes with as many as 46 items (62%), (2) interpersonal themes with as many as 6 items (8%), (3) textual themes. with 19 items (26%) and (4) dual themes with 3 items (4%); 2) topical themes (62%) are the dominant types of themes.

Abstract

Program Kampus Mengajar merupakan salah satu inisiatif Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah dasar, terutama di daerah 3T (Terdepan, Terluar, Tertinggal). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 8 di SD 091345 Parjalangan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program ini telah memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan literasi dan numerasi siswa, peningkatan kemampuan adaptasi teknologi di kalangan guru, serta dukungan dalam administrasi sekolah. Namun, terdapat beberapa tantangan seperti keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana serta adaptasi awal mahasiswa terhadap lingkungan sekolah. Solusi yang diusulkan meliputi peningkatan pelatihan bagi peserta program dan penguatan kolaborasi antara pihak sekolah dan mahasiswa. Kesimpulannya, implementasi Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 8 di SD 091345 Parjalangan berjalan dengan baik dan memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap kualitas pendidikan di sekolah tersebut.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi digital telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam dunia pendidikan, menuntut guru untuk memiliki kompetensi literasi digital yang memadai. Kompetensi ini menjadi penting untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran berbasis teknologi, terutama dalam era digitalisasi pendidikan. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi literasi digital guru-guru di SMP Swasta Surya Pematangsiantar. Metode pelatihan melibatkan pendekatan partisipatif melalui workshop, pendampingan, dan praktik langsung menggunakan berbagai platform dan aplikasi digital yang relevan dengan pembelajaran. Hasil program ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi digital, seperti penggunaan Learning Management System (LMS), aplikasi pembelajaran interaktif, dan media sosial sebagai alat pembelajaran. Indikator keberhasilan program ini diukur melalui peningkatan pemahaman konsep literasi digital, keterampilan teknis, dan penerapan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran. Pelatihan ini juga diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif pada kualitas pembelajaran dan motivasi siswa. Dengan demikian, program ini mendukung upaya peningkatan kualitas pendidikan melalui penguatan kompetensi guru dalam literasi digital.

Abstract

Pengembangan keterampilan lunak (soft skill) dan keterampilan keras (hard skill) merupakan keterampilan yang sangat penting dalam berbagai bidang utamanya bidang pendidikan, pelatihan kejuruan dan program pemberdayaan masyarakat. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan Soft Skill dan Hard Skill pada Masyarakat desa melalui Pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Dalam menghadapi tantangan globalisasi dan perkembangan teknologi yang pesat, masyarakat desa perlu memiliki keseimbangan antara soft skill dan hard skill agar dapat beradaptasi dengan perubahan zaman. Soft skill, seperti komunikasi, kerja sama tim, dan kepemimpinan, berperan penting dalam membangun hubungan sosial dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja. Sementara itu, hard skill, yang mencakup keterampilan teknis dan keahlian praktis, sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan daya saing masyarakat dalam berbagai sektor, baik pertanian, wirausaha, maupun industri kreatif. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan dengan tahap survei lapangan, perencanaan program, kolaborasi degan pihak terkait, implementasi kegiatan, evaluasi dan dokumentasi. Berbagai kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman telah berhasil diterapkan pada masyarakat desa usia muda, seperti les calistung, les bahasa Inggris, sosialisasi keterampilan, serta praktik menanam bunga berkhasiat. Dalam les calistung, peserta tidak hanya belajar membaca, menulis, dan berhitung, tetapi juga mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, komunikasi, dan kerja sama melalui aktivitas yang interaktif. Les bahasa Inggris dirancang agar materi lebih relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, misalnya dengan kegiatan role play yang meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dan mendengarkan sekaligus melatih keberanian serta kreativitas.

Abstract

This Research Aimed To See The Analysis Of Illocutial Speech Act On Instagram Posts And Comments Of Third Semester English Education Students At Hkbp Nommensen. After analyzing the illocutionary acts in the Instagram posts and comments of third-semester English Education students at Nommensen HKBP University, the following conclusions can be drawn: The illocutionary speech acts found in the data include assertives, directives, and expressives. The data was collected from the Instagram accounts of third-semester English Education students, that is, @Icaafrianisitorus, @givalentine_, @novia.as.564, and @cristina_nelvana. Each account focused on different topics. For example, one account focused on emotional expression and social identity, while another emphasized self-confidence and self-validation. Students use assertive acts to express their thoughts, present factual information, and share personal perspectives. Directive acts are employed to influence others' behavior, such as offering advice, making invitations, and encouraging participation in activities. Expressive acts reflect the speaker's emotional state and are used to convey feelings such as gratitude, encouragement, congratulations, and welcome. No commissive or declarative speech acts were found in the data.The most dominant type of illocutionary act found in the data is expressive. This type of speech act is used the most frequently, indicating that students primarily use Instagram for emotional expression, maintaining social connections, and strengthening interpersonal relationships. The prevalence of expressive acts emphasizes the affective nature of their digital communication, focusing on emotional support, social bonding, and self-expression. The absence of commissive and declarative speech acts is likely due to Instagram’s informal and personal nature as a platform, which does not require formal commitments or declarations.In conclusion, this study demonstrates that social media serves as more than just an information-sharing tool; it is a dynamic space for self- expression, emotional connection, and identity formation. The students’ linguistic choices reflect their inclination toward fostering interpersonal relationships, strengthening social bonds, and engaging in meaningful interactions rather than simply exchanging factual content. This highlights the evolving nature of digital communication, where social media platforms facilitate both personal expression and community engagement.
