Abstract

Along with the times and advances in science and technology, plastics are increasingly being used by people in various products because of their diverse interests. Many industries make plastic as the main raw material in the production process. Processing of plastic seeds until it became finished products can be done in many ways one of them is injection molding. But there are some obstacles when plastic products are made in large quantities, so they need to improve the quality of products they are produced.One way to improve the quality of products is by optimizing the parameters. Parameter optimization is a technique used in the manufacturing process to produce the best product. This study aims to optimize injection molding parameters such as injection time, injection pressure and holding time to optimize inner snap diameter and netto on pot cream products. Each parameter has 3 levels which are designed using Box-Behnken method. In this research using ANOVA method to analyze experimental data and the optimization of inner snap diameter and netto in injection molding process is done by using response surface method.Based on the results, it is known that the parameters of injection time, and holding time has an influence on the inner snap diameter. While for the netto all parameters have influence such as injection time, injection pressure, and holding time. For optimization, the configuration of injection time parameter is 3.74 seconds, injection pressure is 47%, and holding time is 1.5 seconds which produce 46.11 mm of inner snap diameter and netto 8.7 gram.

Abstract

One of the production processes in the manufacturing industry is Progressive Dies, in thisprocess the manufacture of products consists of many processes that are interconnected with a singlepress can produce various cutting results derived from the same material (coil). This study made animage design of Progressive Dies plates for the Draft Mark of ships with the help of Catia softwareand the making of simulations so that they could find out the description of the cutting process. Beforedesigning the Progressive Dies engine, calculations are needed - calculations needed such as,clearance, cutting force, stripper force, die thickness, engine tonnage, and deflection that occurs onthe die. From the calculation of the force required to punch a plate with a thickness of 2mm is 72 tons.From the calculation results continued with the analysis using Element Method Until with the help ofcatia software obtained the highest stress result is 1.81 x 108 N / m2 with the result is smaller thanthe dies material tensile stress used (SKD11). And the maximum deflection value that occurs is belowthe maximum deflection value that is permitted, so the results meet the conditions accepted.

Abstract

In the development of the beverage industry that is increasing, the handling and management of cans still uses a manual process by stepping on or hitting the cans with a hammer so that the volume of the cans decreases. Therefore, need an idea and innovation to design and make can pressing machine in the form of a small scale is needed. The process of making this macine uses the Ulrich method. Start from identifying machine requirements to selecting the concept and fabrication of the design. Based on the results of the design using the Ulrich method, design concept 1 was chosen. Then planning, calculate and analysis will be carried out to determine the core components and supporting components to build the machine. The next stage is the manufacture of detailed drawings of the machine, followed by the fabrication and testing process. In the testing this can pressing machine is able to press canswith a capacity of 39 cans/minute with a total budget of Rp. 3.770.600,-.

Abstract

Machining process at PT Lintech Duta Pratama had always delays because a hoisting appliance unsuitable in terms of design and mechanism, so it was decided to designed a pillar slewing jib crane type of hoisting appliance with a design in accordance the workshop layout and a slewing mechanism to can moving material. The design method used the Ulrich method by creating design concepts, then will be selected the best design according to the selection criteria in terms of functionality, strength, and cost, and analysis of structural strength with manual calculation and simulation using Autodesk Fusion 360software. Analysis of the strength on the selected design concept obtained a bending stress value of 77.06 N/mm2 on the jib, 128.80 N/mm2 on the pillar, 155.30 N/mm2 on the arm and the slewing mechanism can be controlled by remote, the components used are gear motors, spur and pinion gear, bearings, shafts and limit switches. Further research can make material variations on the structure in order to get cheaper and stronger results, plan electrical components on the slewing mechanism, and plan the hoisting mechanism and traveling mechanism on the pillar slewing jib crane.

Abstract

This research aiming to make dried seaweed into seaweed flour by using a machine, namely a seaweed flour machine. The reason why this dried seaweed is processed into seaweed flour is because during the COVID-19 pandemic the sales opportunities for processed seaweed products such as seaweed flour and carrageenan are quite large, but the seaweed exported abroad since 2020 is mostly only in the form of only dry seaweed and no further processing. The method used is using the Ulrich method by selecting several design concepts, designing the machine using Fusion 360 software to create drawings, designing, assembling machine components, from the fabrication stage to the machine testing stage to find out the production results of the machine. The material used is mild steel which is given a hard chrome coating for the manufacture of the pounder and the pounder base. Stainless steel is used for the manufacture of hoppers, droppers, flour base machines. ASTM A36 to make the frame structure of the stand, and mild steel which will be used to make the motor pulley casing, bearing house, and locks. The result of flouring dry seaweed using this flour machine is 34.3 kg / hour

Abstract

One of the shipbuilding companies is repairing Cargo Ro-Ro Ships to become Passenger Ro-Ro Ships. On this ship, it is planned that there will be additional decks that function as accommodation space and motorcycle parking. On the new deck there will be slopeway plan as an access to up and down motorbikes. This analysis was conducted to determine the fatigue life of the slopeway. FEM and simplified fatigue damage methods are used to calculate the safety of ship construction and estimate the age of a construction so as to minimize unpredictable damage. Analysis of this method using ANSYS software. Based on the results of the analysis that has been done, the value of the fatigue life in the construction of slopeway design 1 is 28 years, the construction slopeway design 2 is 203 years and the construction slopeway design 3 is 107 years. In further research, it can be redesigned the slopeway construction so that the slopeway can accept a larger load and meet the IRClass standard. In addition, other methods and software can be used as a comparison in the fatigue life analysis.

Abstract

Within the increasing of competitive and demand for quality product in the market place, therefore the demands for quality for metal cutting are getting higher, one of them are turning process. The quality of the product can be seen from the surface roughness and material removal rate. Surface rougness have a affect in functional product. The more smaller in roughness, the quality is more better. Material removal rate in the machining process is very important because it relates to dimensional accuracy in tool, dies serta mold. This research using parameter related to turning such as spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut for material SKD 11 using chisel CNMG. The analysis was performed using Taguchi Grey Fuzzy methd by combining two responses of surface roughness and material removal rate. The result shows that, feed rate, spindle speed and depth of cut has no significant effect to surface roughness and material removal rate. The percent contribuion od feed rate 0,086% depth of cut 15,44% and spindle speed 5,216%. The optimum combination of parameters

Abstract

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is a weed plant in aquatic areas that lives floating in waters. Water hyacinth has a very fast reproduction so that this plant is considered as a plant that damages the environment. In this research, water hyacinth fiber-reinforced composites were made. The main variables of this study were the volume fraction variation of 15% and the alkaline process using NaOH concentration of 0% and 5% immersion for 2 hours with the tensile testing procedure referring to ASTM D 3039. From the results of the study obtained the average maximum tensile strength 19.71 ± 4.60 MPa at 5% NaOH delignification for 2 hours and the lowest average tensile strength at 0% NaOH delignification for 2 hours 14,76 ± 1,98 MPa.

Abstract

The PPNS outboard engine laboratory is one of the learning media for marine engineering majors, it has a practical support tool for the process of moving machines outside the hull of the ship using manual material handling, it's just that it has dimensions that are not in accordance with the conditions of the laboratory layout. So it is necessary to redesign the tool to facilitate the transfer of the outboard engine from the laboratory to the test pool. A hydraulic crane with a capacity, strength and dimensions that are tailored to the needs of the outboard engine laboratory. The calculation and planning of the hydraulic crane structure made from ASTM A871-65 material using the design method has been carried out. The result is a detailed working drawing (detail drawing) with tool dimensions specifications 1526x867x1580 mm made from ASTM A871-65. On the boom hydraulic crane, the maximum stress compared to the allowable stress of the safe/strong material is 164,014 N/mm2 < 298,667 N/mm2, the support structure is safe from bending because the loading force is greater than the working force of the support at 5747005,567 N > 5559,82731 N, at leg structure calculation of safe crane stability where the length of the boom is shorter than the length of the leg (fork), there is no disturbing moment. The total budget plan for making tools is Rp. 1,992,000. The data from the design and budget plan are used as guidelines for the manufacture of hydraulic cranes.

Abstract

PT. Lintech Duta Pratama is one of the contracting companies in Indonesia that produces various kinds of needs in various industries. PT Lintech Duta Pratama uses finishing materials using paintings as a deterrent to corrosion. At the material level and surface roughness of the material to the optimal adhesion of paint on steel plate A in the painting process. This study uses an experimental design using the Taguchi method with 3 levels and 3 parameter factors, based on the Taguchi method 27 experiments were conducted. Then the paint adhesion test is done, the test is done using the cut test corss method. This study aims to determine the paint adhesion in accordance with company specifications and determine the process of painting for the paint adhesion of the test object with a combination of parameter variations tested. Must minimize painting defects. The results of the analysis showed that the dust level parameter had a significant effect on the response of paint adhesion, but the surface roughness and temperature parameters did not have a significant effect. As a combination of parameters that can optimize the paint adhesion response are dust level with level 1, temperature with 26 ° C, and surface roughness with 40 µm.
