Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period from children to adults. Adolescents must be able to make decisions, think critically, evaluate themselves, have self-identity, and be close to their creator. All of these things are included in life skills. Life skills are the ability of a person to survive and live. For this reason, life skills are essential for everyone who strives to have a better life. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in life skills in science and social studies majors, with a sample of 204 participants. The method used in this study is quantitative research with comparative analysis and using questionnaire distribution. The results showed that the hypothesis test found that the significance value was 0.67 > 0.05, which indicates no significant difference in the life skills of science and social studies majors. It was also found that the science department is superior in interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and identity development. Meanwhile, the social studies department excels in the interpersonal dimension of physical fitness. Science majors get the highest points for problem-solving, and social studies majors have the highest points for identity development.

Abstract

The household waste management is still one of the public health problems in Satar Nawang Village. This study aims to determine the factors related to housewives' behavior in managing waste in Satar Nawang village, Congkar district, east Manggarai regency. The research method used is observational analytical research with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study were all housewifes in Satar Nawang Village, totaling 276 people, and the sample consisted of 161 people taken using simple random sampling technique. The researchers collected data through observation, interviews, and questionnaires as instruments in data collection. The data was then analyzed using the Spearman correlation test (ρ) with a significance level of (α = 0.05). The results of this study showed that there were three variables that had a correlation with the behavior of housewifes in managing waste, namely education level (p = 0.001), income (p = 0.018), and knowledge level (p = 0.013), while employment status had no correlation with the behavior of housewifes in managing waste (p = 0.087). Education has a low correlation with waste management behavior, while income, employment status, and knowledge level have a very weak correlation with waste management behavior. It is expected that the government will provide waste disposal facilities such as temporary holding area and health workers to conduct education and outreach on waste sorting, and for housewifes themselves to properly dispose of waste such as sorting waste before disposing of it, not burning dry waste and not leaving waste scattered around the house.

Data on sexual violence againts children in NTT Province continues to increase yearly. Most cases of sexual violence against children occur at home and are commited by those closest to the child, often leaving the child feeling powerless to report the abuse. The challenges in uncovering the sexual violence experienced by children make it essential for adults around them to proactively engage in preventing such cases and to equip themselves with the skills to assist children who experience sexual violence. This community service aims to (1) increase knowledge regarding sexual violence for teachers at child development centers on Rote Island and (2) Provide skills in assisting children who are victims of sexual violence to teachers at child development centers on Rote Island. This community service activity was attended by 15 child development center teachers, 3 men and 12 women. The analysis showed an average increase in pre-test and post-test scores of 17.6 points. The mentoring skills of the participants also improved. This service activity produced several outcomes, such as leaflets on the issue of sexual violence, journal articles, online media publications, and videos of community service activities.

Abstract

. Criminal behaviour can be committed by individuals of any age, including the elderly. For elderly inmates, the transition to a new social status often results in difficulty accepting themselves. Social support plays a vital role in facilitating this self-acceptance. This study aims to explore the dynamics of social support and self-acceptance among elderly inmates at Rote Ndao Correctional Facility. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing interviews as the primary data collection method. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to analyze the data, with purposive sampling employed to select participants. The findings reveal that elderly inmates receive various forms of social support, including emotional, instrumental, informational, spiritual, and esteem support. The self-acceptance process involves phases of rejection, self-perception, relationship building, feelings of equality, responsibility, self-confidence, hope, and eventual self-acceptance. These findings highlight the critical role of social support in fostering self-acceptance among elderly prisoners.

Abstract

This study highlights mental health as a global health challenge that requires serious attention, especially among students. The main objective is to examine the relationship between Mental Health Knowledge and Help-Seeking Behavior among psychology students at Nusa Cendana University. Using a quantitative approach, this research employs proportional sampling and two measurement scales: the Adolescents' Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire to assess mental health knowledge, and the General Help-Seeking Questionnaire to evaluate help-seeking behavior. The data analysis method used is Pearson's product-moment correlation, with the aid of Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistic 26 software. The results indicate a significant relationship between mental health knowledge and help-seeking behavior, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (below 0.05). The correlation between the two variables is 0.435, which indicates a moderate and positive correlation. This means that the lower the mental health knowledge, the lower the help-seeking behavior. The study emphasizes the importance of students' proactive role in increasing their awareness of mental health. Students are encouraged to seek information from credible sources, such as books, scientific articles, seminars, and training sessions. Additionally, they are advised to engage in discussions with lecturers or supervisors, as well as participate in mental health-related organizations to broaden their knowledge. Sharing knowledge through discussions with peers is also expected to help strengthen their understanding of mental health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between attitudes toward mental health and help-seeking behavior among psychology students at Nusa Cendana University. The participants consisted of 217 active students aged 18-24, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring attitudes toward mental health and help-seeking behavior, which were then analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents (77.4%) exhibit a positive attitude toward mental health, while 22.6% hold negative attitudes, reflecting stigma and barriers to help-seeking. The results also demonstrate a significant positive relationship between attitudes toward mental health and help-seeking behavior (r = 0.269; p < 0.05). This suggests that a positive attitude toward mental health contributes to an increased likelihood of students seeking support, whether informally from friends and family or formally from professional services. The study concludes that positive attitudes toward mental health can influence students' help-seeking behavior. The recommendation from this research is to promote ongoing education to reduce stigma and improve mental health literacy, enabling students to seek support more openly when facing mental health challenges.
