Abstract

Nutritional status is a condition caused by a balance between nutrient intake from food and the nutritional needs needed for body metabolism. Nutritional status is influenced by two main factors, namely nutritional intake and infectious diseases. In SBD Regency in 2019, there were 100 malnourished toddlers and 348 undernourished. Tenggaba Health Center is one of the community health centers with 33 undernourished toddlers and 77 undernourished toddlers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between expenditure, the number of family members, knowledge of maternal nutrition, nutritional intake, and infectious diseases with nutritional status of toddlers in the Tenggaba Health Center. The type of research used is quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design with a sample size of 90 toddlers. The sampling method used is simple random sampling. The data obtained were analyzed chi-square test with a significance level of α=0,05. The results showed that the results of the chi-square test for the amount of expenditure (p=0.006), number of family members (p=0,019), and knowledge of maternal nutrition (p=0,000) which means there is a relationship between the amount of expenditure, number of family members and knowledge of nutrition, mothers with the nutritional intake of toddlers. While the results of the chi-square test for nutritional intake of children under five (p=0,000) and infectious diseases (p=0,010) means that there is a significant relationship between nutritional intake of children under five and infectious diseases with nutritional status of children under five.

Abstract

Processed snacks are served in many places, in various types, and are very popular with various groups, including children under five. The snacks in question are traditional and manufactured drinks and processed foods. This service activity was carried out to increase the knowledge and skills of family mothers in choosing and processing healthy snacks for family members, including toddlers, in Tablolong Village, West Kupang District, Kupang Regency, on July 29, 2023, with 50 family mothers participating using the "Education and counseling and simulation.” Before the extension activities are carried out, pre and post-test evaluations will be carried out to measure the abilities and changes in attitudes and actions of the mothers participating in the training regarding the extension material. The pre-test results found that most (62.7%) of family mothers did not understand well healthy snacks (snacks) regarding the type, quantity, and correct method of processing food. However, after confirmation from the results of counseling and food processing simulations, it is known that 100% of family mothers already understand and can choose types of food, prepare simple but nutritious menus with processing methods that are friendly to the availability of sufficient and appropriate nutritional content that is needed and can ensure that the amount of food consumed is according to the needs per day per age per gender of family members.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a measure of the success of nutrient fulfillment resulting from the balance between nutritional needs and inputs. One of the nutritional problems is undernutrition that occurs due to an imbalance between the consumption and absorption of nutrients and their use in the body¹. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 75 out of 344 children aged 1-3 years in the working area of the Feapopi Health Center. Data analysis uses the chi square test with the SPSS application. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that 1. There was no relationship between knowledge and nutritional intake (energy and protein), namely (p=0.317, p=0.343). 2. There is a relationship between the number of family members and nutritional intake (energy and protein), which is (p=0.001) 3. There was a relationship between family expenditure and nutritional intake (energy and protein) (p=0.063, p=0.062) 4. There was a significant relationship between infectious diseases and the nutritional status of BB/U (p=0.001) and BB/TB(p=0.002) 5. There was a significant relationship between nutritional intake (energy and protein) and the nutritional status of BB/U (P=0.001, P=0.002) and BB/TB (p=0.001, P=0.001) 6. There is a relationship between nutritional intake (energy and protein) and infectious diseases on nutritional status.

Data analysis used calculations Rank-Spearman. This type of research is an analytical observational approach cross sectional and the sample size was 76 mothers.  The research found that there are two variables that have a significant relationship with IYCF: maternal knowledge (p=0.025) and maternal education (p=0.000). Additionally, there are two variables that do not have a significant relationship with IYCF, namely household income and mother’s job. Feeding infants and children has a significant relationship with nutritional status (p=0.016). Abstract

Currently, Indonesia is facing three burdens of nutrition problems (triple burden). This nutritional problem also occurs in students. This is because it is influenced by macronutrient intake, nutritional knowledge and also physical activity which are factors related to the body mass index (BMI) of students, BMI is a simple way used to monitor and determine nutritional status. This study aims to analyze the relationship between macronutrient intake, nutritional knowledge and physical activity with the BMI of FKM UNDANA students. This type of research is observational analysis using a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a total of 113 respondents. The statistical analysis used is chi-square using SPSS software. From the results of the analysis, significant values were obtained in carbohydrate intake (p=0.001), protein intake (p=0.702), fat intake (p=0.002), nutritional knowledge (p=0.002) and physical activity (p=0.852). Therefore, it can be concluded that carbohydrate intake, fat intake and nutritional knowledge have a significant relationship with student BMI, while protein intake and physical activity do not have a significant relationship with student BMI.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is a condition where a mother experiences a prolonged and continuous lack of food intake (chronic), leading to health problems. The primary factor contributing to the risk of CED in pregnant women is insufficient food consumption. This study aims to examine the relationship between dietary patterns and the occurrence of CED among pregnant women in the working area of Kawangu Public Health Center, East Sumba Regency. The research method used was analytic observation with a case-control design. The study population consisted of 40 cases and 260 controls, with a sample size of 60 pregnant women (30 cases and 30 controls). Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling, and bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between dietary patterns and the occurrence of CED in pregnant women. Pregnant women with poor dietary patterns had a lower risk of experiencing CED (p=0.000, OR=0.091). Additionally, inadequate meal frequency was also associated with CED (p=0.000, OR=0.026), as was insufficient energy intake (p=0.000, OR=0.014). However, variables such as food type and protein intake did not show a significant relationship with CED. This study recommends that pregnant women receive health education through prenatal classes to improve dietary quality, ensuring that their energy, carbohydrate, protein, vitamin, and mineral needs are adequately met.
