Abstract

Tourism Location of Guruh Gemurai Waterfall, Kuansing is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations to visit, which is located in Kuasing Regency, Riau. The study is conducted from September to October 2010. To see the sustainability of this tourist area, research was carried out to identify current environmental conditions. Factors for future development and assessing the ecotourism sustainability of Guruh Gemurai Waterfall using a survey. From the research results, it is found that many factors need to be improved by the management, especially those related to the safety of visitors, especially the stairs and handrails at level 4, the facilities besides being equipped with representative trash cans. It is recommended that the seven levels be managed, then all that is available must be developed again, both the damaged ones and the new ones, which must be remade so that it affects labor absorption. From the leveraging factors, there are six: covering the basic water substrate, water conditions, having protected species, local labor absorption, environmental knowledge, and growth in the number of traders. However, from these six leveraging factors, there are only three factors that can be improved, namely local labor absorption, environmental knowledge, and growth in the number of traders.

Abstract

Epibenthic dinoflagellates are of important as primary producer in coastal and oceanecosystems. But it has potent toxins causing harmfull effect to marine fauna as well as to human. The present study aimed at analyzing the abundance of three genus ; Ostreopsis, Prorocentrumand Gambierdiscus in Teluk Bayur Bay, West Sumatera, which sampling were conducted inNovember 2014. Environmental parameters were including Nitrate, Phosphate concentration anddensity of Sargassum vegetations were measured which preasumably influence the dinoflagellatesabundance. Apparently, abundance of dinoflagellates ranged from 2061-7116 cells/g. Samplingstations had no effect on abundance of dinoflagellates. Water quality (N, P and Sargassumvegetation density) had no effect to the present and abundance of dinoflagellates, in all samplingstations.

Abstract

Raw water is water used for daily activities, which the quality has satisfied the health requirements and are consumable quality after being cooked (Permenkes No. 416 / Menkes / Per / IX / 1990). E. coli belong to a group of bacteria that are used as indicator of faecal contamination and cause human health problems like diarrhea. The purpose of this research is to determine factors that influence the amount of E. coli in the dug well. This research was conducted in West Sidomulyo village, Pekanbaru on April until October 2016. A quantitative research approach was used and cross sectional design study, by collecting 30 samples and using saturated sampling. Data that has been used in this research is primary data, which used three different survey mediums interviews, observation, and measurement of MPN raw water. The analysis of statistical test used chi-square with a significant level 5%. The results from this research from 30 respondents is 16 samples (53.3%) has groundwater indicated the presence of E. coli. Factors that has statistical significance on the number of E. coli is the distance of septictank with dug well (p value 0.003) and the physical condition of the dug well (p value 0.014). Another factors that statistically not associated with is the distance between the toilet with dug well (p value 1.000) and water-resistant depth (p value 1.000). Recomendations from this study are communities could do some water restoration by improving the lips and floor of raw water sources to water resistant. Community Health Centre of Sidomulyo required taking regular measurements of E. coli and providing counselling to the community about the septictank qualified. Nevertheless, the next researcher need to conduct research by including variables permeability and soil porosity.

Abstract

Analysis of heavy metals Cu, Pb and Zn in water, sediment and bivalves in the Northerncoast of Bengkalis Island Riau Province was conducted in September 2013. Samples were takenfrom 4 stations and environmental parameters such as temperature, pH, salility and current speedwere also measured. The results showed that all the water quality parameters measured in thepresent study were still in the range of tolerable level for aquatic organisms. The mean heavymetals Cu, Pb and Zn concentrations were 0.827; 0.406; 02.104 mg / L in seawater and 42.165;1.892; 78,556 μg/ g in sediment. Meanwhile the concentrations of those metals in bivalve were70.598; 3.762; 186.702 μg/g in Polymesoda expansa and 74.378; 3.903; 129.619 μg/g in Pharellaacutidens. Positive correlations between concentrations of Cu, Pb and Zn in water and sedimentwith concentrations in both bivalves species were found. Based on the PTWI calculation it issuggested that both species of bivalves were still safe to be consumed. Concentrations of heavymetals in sediment in the northern coast of Bengkalis Island were still below the ERL and ERMstandard indicating no serious pressure yet on the living organisms in the surrounding areas.
