Abstract

A research on corrosion rate and inhibition mechanism of pure aluminum using potassium stearate andcalcium stearate has been carried out. The objectives of this research were to explore the type of inhibitor ofpotassium stearate and calcium stearate, to understand the reaction mechanism of corrosion inhibition of aluminum,and to study the effect of the salts toward corrosion rate of aluminum in acidic condition.Potassium and calcium citrates were found to inhibit the corrosion of pure aluminum at concentration of 60ppm, in acidic (pH 3) condition, at 25oC. The inhibition efficiencies and relative corrosion rates were : 76 %; 0,31(calcium stearate) and 73 %; 0,31 (potassium stearate). The result of the study on surface adsorption, bychromatography and spectroscopy suggested that the aluminum inhibition mechanism by the potassium stearate andcalcium stearate anions was due to the formation of surface film as a consequence of the formation of complexbetween aluminum surface atoms / ions with stearate (monodentate ligans) which donate their lone pair electronstoward aluminum.

Abstract

The process of corrosion in metals is a spontaneous one that goes along with the flow of the electrons in the metal that serves as the anode to that which act as a cathode. Thus, metal corrosion is an electrochemical process. A common form of corrosion on aluminum is pitting corrosion. Pitting corrosion can occur on metal surfaces in direct contact with moist air, usually with a metal that has a thin layer of oxide. Because of the a corrosions, a variety of processes in the metallurgical industry should get special treatment to improve the corrosion resistance of the environment, ie with the addition of a corrosion inhibitor. A corrosion inhibitor is an additive in the fluid that can slow the rate of corrosion. Sodium citrate is an anodic inhibitor which is an ampifilik organic salt with both polar and non-polar groups. Sodium benzoate and sodium tartrate salt are ampifilic known as food additive, show that salts can act as corrosion inhibitor on aluminum. These findings drive the author to try Sodium Citrate as a corrosion inhibitor on aluminum which is environmentally friendly given that the benzoate salt at high levels the can’t damage environment.

Abstract

Zeolit alam dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pengisi komposit polietilen sehingga komposit akan memiliki kekerasan yang tinggi dan dapat digunakan untuk kemasan bahan plastik yang kaku dan keras. Zeolit alam yang digunakan dalam percobaan pembuatan komposit ini berasal dari Sentani kabupaten Jayapura, Papua. Hasil karakterisasi mineral dan kristalinitas zeolit tersebut menunjukkan sebagian besar tersusun oleh mineral mordenit (CaNa2K2)Al2Si10O24 dengan derajat kristalinitas 53,14%. Percobaan pembuatan bahan komposit dilakukan dengan cara mencampurkan polietilen dengan bahan pengisi zeolit alam yang dipanaskan pada suhu 188°C selama 8 menit dengan variasi berat pengisi 1 – 65% dari berat polietilennya dan ukuran butir zeolit -150 + 200 mesh. Komposit hasil penelitian mempunyai kekuatan saat putus ≥ 16,887 MPa, kekuatan tarik ≥ 26,367 MPa dan pemuluran putus ≤ 1,331 MPa. Kekerasan komposit semakin meningkat dengan bertambahnya zeolit. Komposit ini tahan terhadap cuaca selama 16 minggu dan baik dimanfaatkan untuk pembuatan pipa dan/atau exsterior blind.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk (1) menguji kelayakan biomassa Tetraselmis chuii dijadikan sebagai biosorben penyerap ion Pb2+ dalam lingkungan tercemar (2) menentukan kondisi interaksi optimum biosorpsi ion Pb2+ oleh biomassa T. chuii serta (3) menentukan pengaruh parameter seperti variasi waktu interaksi, pH dan konsentrasi ion Pb2+. Metode yang digunakan adalah Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA). Persamaan orde satu dan dua digunakan untuk penentuan kinetika biosorpsi ion Pb2+ oleh biomassa T. chuii. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan waktu interaksi ion Pb+2 oleh biomassa T. chuii adalah 5 menit. Mekanisme reaksi biosorpsi ion Pb2+ oleh biomassa fitoplankton laut T. chuii mengikuti reaksi orde dua. Persamaan isotermal Langmuir dan Freundlich digunakan untuk penentuan isotermal biosorpsi ion Pb2+ pada biosorben tersebut. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa biosorpsi ion Pb2+ oleh biomassa T.chuii memenuhi persamaan isotemal Freundlich. Harga kapasitas biosorpsi (k) adalah 6,9279 mg/g. Kapasitas biosorpsi ion Pb2+ paling tinggi diperoleh biomassa T.chuii pada pH 4. Gugus fungsi yang terlibat dalam biosorpsi ion Pb2+ oleh biomassa fitoplankton laut T. chui adalah: -OH, -CN, S=S, M-S dan M-N.

Abstract

The port is a vital infrastructure needed by a region to provide convenience in the process of entering and leaving goods and also people from and out of the region. The benefits of port infrastructure can directly improve the regional economy because it helps various sectors in the region in terms of logistics supply. The purpose of this research is to see the impact of the existence of the Pomako port on changes in the economic order in the surrounding area and to examine the potential of vacant land around the Pomako port area to be converted into a functional land that supports the development of the trade, tourism and industry sectors. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis of the results of observations, interviews and documentation studies. The results obtained are that the Pomako port has a positive impact in the form of economic growth in the Mimika Timur district of Mimika Regency.

Abstract

One of the most visited natural attractions is tourism with natural scenery in the form of clouds that can be seen in a place that is higher than the clouds. This tour is better known as the Land Above the Clouds, which is precisely located in Lolai Village, Kapalapitu District, North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi Province. According to the Tana Toraja Regency Culture and Tourism Service (Disbudpar), tourism development in Tana Toraja Regency is still constrained by infrastructure and supporting facilities. Tourism infrastructure is natural and man-made resources that are absolutely needed by tourists traveling in tourist destinations, such as roads, electricity, water, telecommunications, terminals, bridges and so on. In the development of NDA-L tourism infrastructure, the North Toraja district government is more dominant because they can take multiple benefits from this development, such as increasing the flow of information, economic traffic flow, the flow of human mobility between regions and so on which of course can increase business opportunities and work. With the better condition of roads and infrastructure at the NDA-L tourist sites, it is not surprising that there are increasing tourist visits. Especially on holidays or holidays. The number of visitors can be up to 20 thousand visitors per day. Of course this will be very beneficial in terms of the economy and tourism development. Especially for economic improvement through the tourism industry, there are many benefits that can be taken if the existing economic industry can develop optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and determine the pattern of waste management, to assess the active role and involvement of the community in waste management through the 3R method (reduce, reuse, recycle). The research methodology uses descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis methods. Collecting data through observation, questionnaires, and interviews with the sampling technique used is the Stratified Random Sampling method with a sample of 100 respondents. Through the identification carried out, it was found that the community's preference for waste management was included in the good category. Community participation in the current solid waste management system is still low. The role of stakeholders in waste management is still only normative. The potential and constraints of community participation can be developed into a form of household scale management, a form of communal management, and a form of centralized management. Thus, it was found that in order to find a form of waste management in accordance with local conditions, it was necessary to assess community preferences, development potentials and constraints, as well as the economic potential of solid waste, which was integrated with the current form of management.

Abstract

Abstract. Learning activities and critical thinking skills students of Biology at the University Ottow Geissler organic chemistry courses remains low. Lack of critical thinking skills is demonstrated by the low student learning outcomes of students. To enhance critical thinking skills and learn to apply the learning outcome types Cooperative Think Pair Share ( TPS ). The population was students of Biology, University of Papua years teaching Ottow Geissler 2012/2013 consists of 10 students. This study aims to determine the relationship of cooperative learning model Think Pair Share ( TPS ) through the experimental method to the results of students of the University Ottow berajar Geissler ( Sub Topic Hydrocarbon Compounds ). Relationship learning model is designed based on the results of preliminary studies, further validated by experts then tested the students of Biology, University of Ottow Geissler using purposive sampling. Is a quantitative research instrument. Quality of the instrument based on the validity and reliability of the instrument in the form of questionnaires and tests. The conclusion from this study is that there is a fairly strong relationship cooperative learning model Think Pair Share ( TPS ) Method Through Experiment Against the critical thinking skills of 0.5730 and has dealt cooperative learning model Think Pair Share ( TPS ) with the learning outcome of -0.719. Abstract

This research is quasi research which its aim to see the influence of using cooperative learning Method Student Teanis Achievement to activity and student learning result. The population of this research are students grade XI sains one to grade XI sains five in SMA 1 Manokwari.. The research result so learning with using cooperative method STAD can increase learning result in reaction rate material than convensional learning. The angket analyze of activity show that experiment class and control class. Abstract

Ilmu kimia dianggap sebagai mata pelajaran yang sulit dipelajari oleh siswa di SMA. Daya serap siswa pada pelajaran kimia hingga saat ini dianggap masih kurang memenuhi harapan. Model pembelajaran kooperatif diharapkan mampu dijadikan solusi agar siswa dapat memperoleh hasil belajar yang optimal. Pembelajaran tipe Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD)dan tipe Think Pair Share (TPS) adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif yang dapat diterapkan guru untuk menyampaikan konsep IPA di sekolah. Telah dilakukan penelitian di kelas XI SMA Negeri 4 Jayapura tahun ajaran 2011/2012, tentang Perbedaan Hasil Belajar Menggunakan Pembelajaran Tipe Student Teams Achievement Division dengan Tipe Think Pair Share Pada Materi Faktor-faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Laju Reaksi. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswa kelas XI-IA2 yang diajar dengan tipe TPS dan kelas XI-IA3 yang diajar  dengan tipe STAD.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kedua kelas yang digunakan sebagai sampel, memiliki kemampuan yang relatif sama. Data hasil tes yang diberi setelah pembelajaran menunjukan bahwa ada perbedaan hasil belajar kimia yang bermakna antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran tipe STAD dengan siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran tipe TPS. Pembelajaran tipe STAD lebih cocok digunakan untuk menyampaikan materi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi laju reaksi dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran tipe TPS. Kata Kunci: Hasil Belajar siswa, Student Teams Achievement Division, Think Pair Share, Laju Reaksi.
