Abstract

Abstract Hebei International Studies University, is one of UNJ's partners which is located in China, precisely on Hongqi road no. 1218, Yuanshi County, Shijiazhuang city, Hebei Province. Hebei International Studies University has several faculties in it, one of which is International Finance. Various study programs at the faculty require students to take Indonesian language courses. This course is held continuously from semester 1 to semester 7. Studying Indonesian makes them interested in the arts and culture of Indonesia, especially since there are several arts in Indonesia that have cultural acculturation with China, such as Betawi Basic Dance. Basic Betawi Dance training will be held at the International Finance Faculty located in Shijiazhuang city, Hebei Province. The object is 79 International Finance Department students. The method used in conducting this dance training is Demonstration and example, namely a training method carried out by direct demonstration and explanation of Basic Betawi Dance. Students will do work through demonstrated examples or experiments, where this method will be very effective because the participants see firsthand the dance techniques used by the instructor. Hebei International Studies University memiliki beberapa fakultas di dalamnya, salah satunya adalah International Finance. berbagai program studi yang ada di fakultas tersebut mewajibkan mahasiswa untuk mengambil mata kuliah Bahasa Indonesia. Mata kuliah tersebut diselenggarakan secara berkelanjutan dari semester 1 hingga semester 7. Mempelajari Bahasa Indonesia membuat mereka tertarik dengan Seni dan Budaya yang dimiliki Indonesia, terlebih ada beberapa kesenian di Indonesia yang memiliki akulturasi budaya dengan China seperti Tari Dasar Betawi. Pelatihan Tari Dasar Betawi akan dilaksanakan di Fakultas International Finance yang terletak di Shijiazhuang city, Hebei Province. Objeknya adalah Mahasiswa International Finance Department sebanyak 79 orang. Metode yang digunakan dalam melakukan pelatihan tari ini adalah Demonstration and exampel yaitu metode latihan yang dilakukan dengan cara peragaan dan penjelasan secara langsung tentang Tari Dasar Betawi. Mahasiswa akan mengerjakan sesuatu pekerjaan melalui contoh atau percobaan yang didemonstrasikan, dimana metode ini akan sangat efektif karena para peserta melihat langsung Teknik dalam menari yang dilakukan instruktur. Abstract

Abstract This Community Service Program aims to introduce Betawi arts and culture, rooted in the acculturation of Chinese Peranakan culture, through the Nyai Cukin dance training. In addition, the program seeks to promote cultural collaboration between Hebei International Studies University (HISU) and Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). HISU, as a partner of UNJ located in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, has more than 21,000 students and 1,358 faculty members and staff, including foreign academics and experts. HISU has grown into a comprehensive and internationally oriented university, and is the only independent international language university at the undergraduate level in Hebei Province. HISU students are required to take Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) courses from the first to the final semester, with an emphasis on introducing Indonesian culture as part of the curriculum. The Nyai Cukin dance training, which reflects the cultural fusion of Chinese Peranakan influence, employs demonstration and imitation teaching methods. These methods are designed to facilitate students' understanding of the dance movements. The training is conducted both online and in person, covering the history of the dance, performance videos, and instructional videos. This approach greatly assists HISU students in learning and mastering the Nyai Cukin dance, enabling them to successfully perform it in front of new students. Keywords: Dance Training, Nyai Cukin Dance, Peranakan Chinese Culture Abstrak Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan memperkenalkan seni budaya Betawi yang berlandaskan akulturasi budaya peranakan Tionghoa melalui pelatihan tari Nyai Cukin. Selain itu, program ini juga bertujuan mendorong kolaborasi budaya antara Hebei International Studies University (HISU) dan Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). HISU, sebagai mitra UNJ yang berlokasi di Shijiazhuang, Provinsi Hebei, memiliki lebih dari 21.000 mahasiswa dan 1.358 dosen serta staf, termasuk akademisi dan ahli asing. HISU telah tumbuh menjadi universitas yang komprehensif dan berskala internasional, serta merupakan satu-satunya universitas bahasa internasional mandiri di Provinsi Hebei. Mahasiswa HISU diwajibkan mengambil mata kuliah Bahasa Indonesia Penutur Asing (BIPA) dari semester awal hingga semester akhir, dengan fokus juga pada pengenalan budaya Indonesia dalam kurikulumnya. Pelatihan tari Nyai Cukin, yang mencerminkan akulturasi budaya peranakan Tionghoa, menggunakan metode pembelajaran demonstrasi dan imitasi. Metode ini dirancang untuk memudahkan mahasiswa dalam memahami gerakan tari. Pelatihan dilakukan baik secara daring maupun tatap muka, dengan menyajikan sejarah tari, video pertunjukan, serta video pembelajaran. Pendekatan ini sangat membantu mahasiswa HISU dalam mempelajari dan menguasai tari Nyai Cukin, sehingga mereka berhasil menampilkan tarian tersebut di depan mahasiswa baru dengan baik. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji karakteristik budaya pada tari tradisional Indonesia yang meliputi Aceh, Jawa, Kalimantan, Bali, Sulawesi, dan Papua. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana karakteristik budaya pada tari tradisional yang ada di Indonesia, khususnya pada tari tradisional Aceh, Betawi, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, dan Papua. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis. Pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan wawancara kepada maestro tari, budayawan, koreografer, dan akademisi tari. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa masing-masing daerah memiliki karakteristik tarian yang berbeda-beda baik dari segi gerak, tema, musik, busana, dan seluruh instrumen dalam sebuah pertunjukan tari sehingga karakteristik tersebut memiliki makna etis dan estetis.

Abstract

Cokek is a Betawi art that has been influenced by Chinese leaders’ culture and that was born in the 18th century. Cokek dance in those days was fostered and developed by wealthy Chinese owners. The term Peranakan is defined as a result of mixed cultures; Chinese culture originating from Hokkien migrants in the southern provinces of China and the local culture. The purpose of the research is to develop insight and knowledge about the Chinese Peranakan culture as one of the influencing elements on the Betawi culture, as well as the development of various disciplines such as dance, music, theater and scenography as a source of inspiration for dance creations based on the Cokek dance. The analysis method uses a qualitative method with a Research and Development approach with 10 stages, but in this second phase of the research only uses 7 stages, namely: (1) Potential and Problems, (2) Literature Study and Information Gathering, (3) Product Design, (4) Design Validation, (5) Design Revision, (6) Initial Trial (7) Product Revision. The theory used is the theory of creation of Alma M Hawkins Moving from Within: A New Method for Dance Making in the translation of I Wayan Dibia Moving According to the Heart: A New Method of Creating Dance which consists of experiencing or expressing, seeing, feeling, imagining, manifesting, and forming. Nyai Cukin Era Jakarta Tempo Doeloe was created in the form of a contemporary dance theater and uses 7 female dancers and 6 male dancers. It depicts women as Cokek dancers who can express their weary thoughts through joking while waiting for their partner in Kalijodo.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan melalui kemitraan wilayah binaan fakultas, dengan fokus pada pelatihan tari Minang “Tak Ting-tong” di SMA Presiden Jababeka, Bekasi. Tujuan utama kegiatan adalah meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap budaya Minang serta memperkuat karakter melalui pendekatan seni yang edukatif, kreatif, dan terampil. Pelatihan dilakukan secara intensif dengan menerapkan metode penciptaan tari Alma M. Hawkins, yang terdiri atas enam tahapan: mengalami, melihat, merasakan, mengkhayalkan, mengejawantahkan, dan pembentukan. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan adalah gerak imitasi secara langsung, dipadukan dengan eksplorasi ritme kreatif antara musik marching band dan alat musik tradisional Minang, yaitu Talempong. Pendekatan ini dirancang untuk menciptakan keseimbangan antara aktivitas fisik dan mental siswa, sekaligus merespons tekanan akademik yang tinggi melalui penguatan psikomotorik dan ekspresi diri. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan tari berbasis budaya lokal mampu meningkatkan apresiasi seni, memperkuat identitas budaya, serta membentuk karakter siswa secara kontekstual dan menyenangkan   AbstractThis community service activity was carried out through a faculty-led regional partnership, focusing on the training of Minang traditional dance “Tak Ting-tong” at SMA Presiden Jababeka, Bekasi. The primary objective of the program was to enhance students’ understanding of Minangkabau culture and to strengthen character development through an educational, creative, and skill-based artistic approach. The training was delivered intensively using Alma M. Hawkins’ dance creation method, which comprises six stages: experiencing, seeing, sensing, imagining, transforming, and forming. The instructional method employed direct imitation of movement, combined with creative rhythm exploration that integrates marching band music and traditional Minang instruments, particularly the Talempong. This approach was designed to foster physical and mental balance among students, while addressing academic stress through psychomotor stimulation and expressive engagement. The results indicate that culturally grounded dance training can effectively improve artistic appreciation, reinforce cultural identity, and support character formation in a contextual and enjoyable manner.
