Abstract

Adolescence is a very complex period. Various teen problems haunt when they grow up to become adults. The same teenagers successfully face the challenges of their development so that they are free from a variety of risky behaviors. However, some of them also smoke, consume alcohol, have free sex, commit violence, and use drugs. This research is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach in which researchers explore and try some risky behaviors in health and factors that influence and how adolescents in vocational high schools end up committing some risky behavior. The results of the study show that teens who do not have risky behavior and who do have some risk behaviors have different understandings related to the impact of these behaviors. People around teenagers influence how teenagers will behave. These influential people can cause teenagers to take risky behavior, such as family problems, get bad examples from parents, family members, peers, and idols. Factors that influence adolescents to end up committing risky behavior are the understanding of the negative effects of risk behavior. The various causes of influential people include parents, peers, religious leaders, idols, perceived benefits, self-control, and intention. The internal and external factors of adolescents determine whether the teenager will do or not risky behavior. Strong collaboration between internal and external factors shapes behavior which is not risky in adolescents, and vice versa.

Abstract

Indonesia, being a tropical area with high humidity, is a source of proliferation of worms. Soil-Transmitted Helminths infection is widespread in all rural and urban areas. Children who are infected usually experience lethargy, pallor or anemia, weight loss and listlessness, as well as decreasing their learning concentration and productivity. Prevention effort to reduce the incidence of Soil-Transmitted Helminths infection is conducted by providing the information on Soil-Transmitted Helminths infection. Health promotion cannot be separated from media because messages delivered through media can be more interesting and easier to understand. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of a pocket book to increase preventive behavior for Soil-Transmitted Helminthes Infections. This type of research was a quasi-experimental study. The samples of this study were all elementary school infected students in grades 3, 4, and 5 with a package of interventions for the provision of a pocket book. The effectiveness of the pocket book is determined by using the t test. There are differences between the mean of knowledge and attitude, but the mean of behavior of Soil -Transmitted Helminths Infection before and after the pocket book is similar.

Abstract

Background: The trend of juvenile delinquency, especially Dating Violence (DV) is still very high. According to the Annual Records (Catahu), there were 2,073 cases in 2018. The Special Region of Yogyakarta ranked sixth as region with the highest DV cases in Indonesia, reaching 980 cases in 2018. In Bantul Regency, 80 cases were reported in 2018. Dating violence can have negative impact on the physical and psychological well-being of adolescents. Physical violence can lead to bruises and fractures while psychological violence affects the victims in the form of depression, stress, anxiety and sleep disturbances. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical and psychological violence in dating with sleep duration of adolescents. Method: This research used quantitative research method with a cross sectional approach. Data were analyzed using chi square. The sample consisted of 314 high school students (15-19 years old) who were recruited using purposive sampling technique. Only subjects who have dated or are currently dating were included in this study. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between physical violence in dating and sleep duration (PR = 1,165; 95% CI = 1,050-1,293; p<0.05). However, there was no relationship between psychological violence in dating and sleep duration (PR = 1,068; 95% CI = 0,957-1,192; p>0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that there is a relationship between physical violence in dating and sleep duration. Teenagers are advised to take advantage of the PIK-R program at school or visit counseling teachers that can help them solving their problems.

Abstract

Background: Worm disease is an infectious disease that still becomes a public health problem in Indonesia. Worm can cause a decrease in health, nutrition, intelligence and productivity of the sufferers. Worms as parasitic animals do not only take nutrients in the intestines of children, but they also damage the intestinal wall so that they interfere the absorption of these nutrients, consequently, it will impact on the decreasing of one's nutritional status and cause other complex nutritional problems. Moyudan Health Center is a Community Health Center in Moyudan Sub-District Region which has the highest cases of helminthiasis (worm infection). Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between helminthiasis infection and nutritional status. Methods: This was an observational analytic study using a cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study were elementary school students in the work area of Moyudan Health Center with samples of 311 respondents. The sampling technique used by multistage random sampling is the selection of samples consisting of the smallest areas of an area. Faecal examination was carried out by using the direct method and nutritional status assessment was carried out by anthropometric method based on the anthropometric index Body Age Index per Age (BMI / U). Data were analyzed by Fisher's test. Results: The results showed that there were 8 respondents (2.57%) who were positively infected by worms, 28 respondents had underweight nutritional status (9.01%), and 54 respondents had a nutritional status of fat (17.36%). The results of the study showed no correlation between helminthiasis infection and nutritional status (p-value = 0.534).Conclusions: There is no relationship between helminthiasis and nutritional status in elementary school students in the Moyudan Community Health Center Working Area in Sleman Regency with a p-value of 0.534 so that it is concluded that helminthiasis infection does not provide any significant contribution to nutritional status even though cases of helminthiasis still occur in elementary school students. Therefore, it needs more attention from parents, schools and health facilities in dealing with worm problems.
