Abstract

Background and purpose: Kulon Progo District is one of the 100 priority districts in Indonesia for stunting program with a prevalence of 22.65%. The purpose of this research is to identify association between mother’s education, family income and exclusive breastfeeding history with stunting events in Kulon Progo District, Yogyakarta. Methods: This research used a cross sectional design which conducted in Kulon Progo District, Yogyakarta. There were 729 children aged 0-59 months recorded in the integrated service post (posyandu) who met the inclusion criteria. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire for children and mothers’ characteristics, while stunting status was retrieved from the growth monitoring card. Data analysis was conducted using Chi-Square test. Results: Children in the survey were 53.77% boys and around a quarter (24.69%) were at 25-36 months old. The majority of the mothers (72.98%) were between the ages of 26 and 35 years with high school education (67.35%) and most of them did not work (82.17%). Children with lower maternal education are less likely to experience stunting (PR=0.751; 95%CI: 0.593-0.952; p=0.013), and those from lower income family have almost five fold increased chance of stunting (PR=4.562; 95%CI: 2.643–7.874; p<0.001). Whilst for history of exclusive breastfeeding, the association was not statistically significant with stunting (PR=0.795; 95%CI: 0.529–1.196; p=0.239) Conclusion:There is a relationship between maternal and family education with the probability of stunting, while there is 20% reduced chance of stunting if children were breast fed although it was not statistically significant. Improving maternal awareness on stunting is essential for stunting management programs.

Abstract

The World Health Organization quality of life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) instrument has been used to assess several diseases, including chronic pain sufferers' quality of life. In Indonesia it can be utilized for evaluating the quality of life among tuberculosis (TBC) patients. This study aimed to assess the psychometric attributes of quality of life questionnaires among 123 respondents with TBC (56.9% males, 43.1% females) in Yogyakarta. This study employed the Rasch analysis technique for psychometric analysis. The findings indicate that six questions are biased in favour of the respondent's qualities. Four items do not statistically match an MNSQ (Mean-square or Standardized fit statistics) output value of >1.5 but are still acceptable (Pt. Meas Corr 0.3-0.8). Between the elements Q14-Q12 and Q12-Q21, there is a gap The responders' ability level is higher than the average problem difficulty level. The WHOQOL-BREF instrument revealed unidimensionality, and the evaluation scale worked properly when it was used with TBC patients with Cronbach's α value of 0.89. The WHOQOL-BREF scale continues to be appropriate for evaluating the patient quality of life since it has solid psychometric qualities.

Abstract

Introduction -Tuberculosis is one of the main problems of infectious diseases in the world and Indonesia is ranked third in the world. Efforts to prevent transmission are carried out in various ways, both preventive and promotive efforts. Health education is carried out to increase public awareness of this disease. Elementary school students are good targets for increasing knowledge and self-efficacy, so that they can have an early awareness of this disease. Giving material classically is one of the methods used to deliver material about TB to students. This study aims to determine the differences in knowledge and self-efficacy of elementary school students about tuberculosis before and after being given classical material. Methodology - This was a pre-posttest quasi-experiment without a control study. with a target of 52 elementary school students grades 4-6 at SD Kembangan Bantul. The sampling method is total sampling. The intervention given is an hour-long classical offline lecture. The questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to measure the knowledge and self-efficacy of the respondents before and after the intervention. Data analysis using Wilcoxon from the Jamovi statistical program application. Results: there was an increase in the average self-efficacy value after the intervention although it was very low, but the knowledge score between before and after the intervention decreased. Conclusion: The impact of this counseling is that counseling has a positive impact on children's self-efficacy, although it does not have much effect on children's self-efficacy

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TBC), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is an infectious disease that is still a global problem. Indonesia has a high burden of pulmonary tuberculosis and is ranked second in the world with the highest number of TBC sufferers after India. Tuberculosis is transmitted through infected droplets when coughing or sneezing, and close contact is very susceptible to the transmission process and other supporting factors. This study aims to determine the risk factors for TBC. Method: This study used a cross-sectional research design with Chi-Square analysis and continued with multivariate analysis and logistic Regression. The sample consisted of 430 respondents obtained using the Accidental Sampling technique. Results: Factors associated with TBC in the Kapanewon Depok area were age (RP: 2.086; 95% CI: 1.247-3.490; p= 0.006), gender (RP: 2.1; 95% CI: 1.302-3.393; p= 0.003), family income (RP: 3.593; 95% CI: 2.322-5.560; p= 0.000), history of household contact (RP: 8.438; 95% CI: 5.737-12.410; p= 0.000), and history of close contact (RP: 3.881; 95% CI: 2.49-6.051; p= 0.000). The factor that has the most influence on the incidence of TBC is a history of household contact with a value of Exp(B)=17.699. Conclusion: Risk factors for pulmonary TBC in the Kapanewon Depok area are age, gender, family income, history of household contact, and history of close contact. A relationship, namely the history of household contact, has the most influence on the incidence of TBC in the Kapanewon Depok area.

Abstract

In Indonesia, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) continues to be an issue. Although there have been fewer dengue infections in the past three years, many areas of Indonesia remain dengue endemic. Insecticide use is one DHF prevention and control method that has been used for a long time. Long-term usage of insecticides can cause the vector, Aedes aegypti, to develop resistance. Insecticide resistance to Aedes aegypti in Indonesia was the focus of this study's analysis of the literature review. A systematic review using keywords based on population, interest and context (PICo) was employed in the study strategy. The databases used to find the publications were ScienceDirect, ProQuest, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Garuda from 2018 to 2022. Hence, 40 papers out of the 6,429 total articles were relevant and should be reviewed and analyzed. According to an analysis of the paper, it was discovered that Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are resistant to insecticides of the pyrethroid and organophosphate classes in various parts of Indonesia. However, it was discovered that several regions were both tolerant of and vulnerable to pyrethroids and organophosphates. If insecticides are to be utilized intolerant and vulnerable locations, monitoring and evaluation of their usage must be done, and a strategy of varying insecticide kinds and dosages and boosting community empowerment toward mosquito nest elimination behaviour must be implemented.

Abstract

Introduction: Globally, tuberculosis (TBC) continues to be a factor causing morbidity and death. During the COVID-19 epidemic, case detection has decreased globally; Indonesia is one of the countries that sees this. For many years, the Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse (DOTS) approach has been used as a TB control program. Based on case studies, the success rate for tuberculosis treatment in Yogyakarta is 86.4%, which does not meet the national target. Aims: To evaluate the Yogyakarta DOTS strategy in reducing TB. Methods: This research uses a qualitative case study design methodology. Six people participated in this research as respondents; two of them were drug swallowing supervisors, and four of them were TBC program participants. Theme analysis was applied to data analysis. Results: Yogyakarta successfully implemented DOTS which consists of five strategies. There are no gubernatorial regulations derived from presidential regulations regarding TB control; however, there was a decision by the governor to accelerate the eradication of TB, which later became a political commitment. Cases were identified through sputum examination using a rapid molecular test. Healthcare institutions have adequate access to medicines, which are monitored by the drug swallowing supervisors. Tuberculosis information system (SITB) is used in monitoring, recording and reporting systems. Conclusion: Implementing the five of Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse strategies in controlling TBC in Yogyakarta has been done quite well. However, implementation is still hampered by a lack of human resources, computer infrastructure, and connections, all of which impact timely reporting.
