Abstract

Background : Mental disorders are conditions in which individuals experience disturbances in psychological, social, and biological functions. One of the most common symptoms in patients with schizophrenia is visual hallucination, which refers to the perception of seeing something that does not actually exist. This condition affects the patient’s ability to function and interact with their social environment. Appropriate nursing interventions are required to help patients manage their hallucinations. One such intervention is the talking technique, a distraction strategy that redirects the patient’s attention from hallucinations to real-life interaction. Objective : This study aims to determine the process of mental nursing care for patients with sensory perception disorders: visual hallucinations with a focus on conversation interventions at Dr. Soedjarwadi Klaten Regional Hospital. Method : The design of this study uses a case study method consisting of stages of assessment, determination of nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The subject in this study was Mr. P, a patient at the Dr. RM Soedjarwadi Klaten Regional Mental Hospital. Results : The results of the study showed that consistent implementation of conversational strategies during treatment can reduce the intensity of hallucinations, increase awareness of reality, and rebuild patients' social interaction abilities. Counclusion : Conversation intervention is an effective approach in treating visual hallucinations in mental disorders patients.

Abstract

Background: Maintaining children's health is a special concern for parents. Changes in children's health conditions are influenced by changes in weather, one of the symptoms that often occurs in children is fever or hyperthermia. One of the non-pharmacological treatments is by administering Water Tepid Sponge (WTS). Water Tepid Sponge is a combination of warm compress techniques, superficial vascular block compress techniques and wiping techniques. The compression technique is carried out at several points where there are large blood vessels (neck folds, right and left axillary folds, right and left thigh folds) so that vasodilation occurs and then accelerates evaporation and conduction to lower body temperature in children. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of administering Water Tepid Sponge (WTS) to reduce body temperature in toddlers with hyperthermia problems in Panican Village. Method: This study used a descriptive case study with respondents of toddlers with hyperthermia problems. The focus of this case study is the provision of Water Tepid Sponge (WTS) with hyperthermia problems as a nonpharmacological action. This study was conducted in Panican Village for 3 days starting on 23-25 June 2025. Results: After being given Water Tepid Sponge (WTS) for 3 days with 1 meeting within 15-30 minutes using water temperature of 37oC40oC, the child's body temperature decreased, the initial result was 38.7oC and after being given Water Tepid Sponge (WTS) for 3 days, the result was 37.3oC. Conclusion: Providing Water Tepid Sponge (WTS) can reduce body temperature in toddlers with hyperthermia problems in Panican Village.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the major health problems that can trigger complications of cardiovascular disease. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that has been proven effective in lowering blood pressure is Isometric Handgrip Exercise (IHE). This study aims to analyze the effect of IHE on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Dusun Bungkel, Grobogan Regency. The design of this study used a quasi-experiment with a time-series approach. A total of 31 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The IHE intervention was carried out for five consecutive days with a training duration of six minutes per day. Blood pressure was measured before and after each training session. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and Wilcoxon. The results showed that IHE for five days could reduce systolic blood pressure by 21.6 mmHg and diastolic by 13.5 mmHg, with an average decrease per session of 6.5 mmHg for systolic and 4.1 mmHg for diastolic. The results of the statistical test showed a p value <0.05, which means that the decrease in blood pressure was significant.

Abstract

Background: Self-efficacy is a crucial factor in the success of therapy and self-care among haemodialysis patients. The quality of vascular access care, particularly in users of double lumen catheters, significantly affects therapy effectiveness and is prone to complications such as thrombosis, which may lead to vascular access loss in 30–40% of patients. Approximately 60% of cases show suboptimal haemodialysis therapy. Studies examining the relationship between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality remain limited in patients using double lumen catheters.Purpose: This study aimed to analyse the relationship between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality in haemodialysis patients with double lumen catheters at Hospital. Methods: A descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 60 purposively selected respondents. The CKD-SE and SF-VAQ questionnaires were used as instruments. Data were analysed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: A significant positive correlation was found between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality (p = 0.000; r = 0.620). Most respondents (68.3%) had moderate self-efficacy (mean 65.49 ± 4.755), and 31.7% had high self-efficacy (mean 85.26 ± 4.121). The quality of vascular access care was moderate in 50% and good in 43.3% of respondents (means 49.40 ± 5.001 and 70.00 ± 5.713, respectively). Conclusion: Patients with high self-efficacy generally provide better vascular access care, supporting the success of haemodialysis. Thus, nursing interventions should aim to enhance self-efficacy to improve care quality in patients with double lumen catheters.

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer experienced by women. In Indonesia, there are 68,858 cases of breast cancer with 30.9% of them in Central Java. The impact on the bio-psychosocio-spiritual aspects of breast cancer patients is anxiety. One effort to reduce anxiety levels in patients is to provide social support. Objective: To determine the relationship between social support and the anxiety level of breast cancer patients. Methods: The research design used is descriptive quantitative with correlational methods and cross-sectional approaches. A total of 60 respondents were selected using the consecutive sampling technique. The Medical Outcomes Study Questionnaire: Social Support Survey (MOS: SSS) was used to measure social support and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) to measure anxiety levels. Data analysis used Spearman's rank test. Results: There are 54 respondents of 60 respondents who have received social support in the high category, while the level of anxiety they experience tends to be in the low category (65.3%). The results of Spearman's Rank analysis showed a social relationship with anxiety (p-value = 0.021, rcount = 0.298) which means that the higher social support received, the lower the level of anxiety experienced by breast cancer patients. Conclusion: There is a negative correlation between social support and anxiety levels in breast cancer patients. The higher the social support the patient gets, the lower the level of anxiety in breast cancer patients.

Abstract

The concept of the soul and Islamic ethics according to Imam Al-Ghazali is highly relevant to the formation of human personality, particularly in the context of character education in the modern era. This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of Al-Ghazali’s structure of the soul, which encompasses the faculties of reason, anger, and desire, and to explain how these three are refined and balanced through Islamic ethics to produce a mature and moral personality, while also elucidating Al-Ghazali’s contribution to the development of akhlak and contemporary character education. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, drawing primarily on Al-Ghazali’s major works such as Ihya’ Ulumuddin, Mizan al-‘Amal, and Kimya’ al-Sa‘adah, which are further enriched by secondary literature in the form of journals, books, and previous studies on Islamic ethics and psychology. The analysis shows that, in Al-Ghazali’s view, the human soul contains both good and bad potentials that must be directed through the purification of the heart (tazkiyah al-nafs) and the control of base desires, with Islamic ethics functioning as a practical guide for shaping behavior through moral training, habituation to virtuous deeds, and the purification of intention. Personality formation is understood as a spiral process that requires continuous balance among spiritual, intellectual, and emotional potentials. These findings affirm that Al-Ghazali’s thought is highly relevant to contemporary character education because it emphasizes the integration of moral and spiritual dimensions as the foundation of personality, thereby offering an important contribution to efforts to cultivate individuals who are morally upright, wise, and emotionally stable.
