Abstract

ABSTRACTEffective and efficient fertilization is affected by fertilizer dose, and therefore information on the appropriate dose of a single fertilizer for oil palm will be beneficial to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of fertilization in oil palm plantations. The objectives of this research were to study the response patterns and to determine optimum rate of single fertilizer package related to the growth of one year old oil palm trees. The experiment was conducted from March 2013 to February 2014 at IPB-Cargill Teaching and Research Farm of Oil Palm, Jonggol Bogor. The experiment was arranged in randomized block design with one factor and replicated three times. The treatments were four single fertilizer package as followed: control, 300 g urea + 375 g SP-36 + 350 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O, 600 g urea + 750 g SP-36 + 700 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O, 900 g urea + 1125 g SP-36 + 1050 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O per plant. The result showed that application of single fertilizer package significantly increased the growth of young oil palm linearly as shown by plant height, stem girth, leaf area of frond number 9, chlorophyll and P content of the leaves and quadratically on leaf number at the last observation. The optimum rate of single fertilizer for one year old oil palm trees had not been attained at this research because the plant growth response to fertilization was still linear. Keywords: inorganic, leaf frond number 9, optimum rate, growth response, stem girth

Abstract

ABSTRACTOil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is the most efficient vegetable oil producer. It produces five to seven times more vegetable oil per hectare than the other vegetable oil producing crops. The objective of this research was to study the role of organic and NPK compound fertilizers application to one-year-old oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) on marginal land. The research was conducted at IPB-Cargilll Teaching Farm of Oil Palm, Jonggol, Bogor, West Java from March 2013 to March 2014. The experiment was carried out as factorial experiment in a randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was organic fertilizer consisted of 0, 15, and 30 kg per palm. The second factor was NPK compound fertilizers 15:15:15 consisted of 0, 1.3 and 2.6 kg per palm. The results showed that no interaction effect between organic and NPK compound fertilizers on all of variables observed. Marginal soils in Jonggol required high rate of fertilizers to produce good performance of one-year-old oil palm. Application of 30 kg organic fertilizer per palm or 2.6 kg NPK compound fertilizers 15:15:15 per palm resulted in the highest vegetative growth of one-year-old oil palm on marginal land in Jonggol. Keywords: cow dung, critical nutrient level, slow release fertilizer, Ultisols, vegetative growth

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe accuracy of fertilizer dosage for one-year-old oil palm plants is very important. The objective of the research was to determine the optimum rates of Nitrogen and Phosphorus fertilizers for young oil palm. The experiment was conducted at IPB-Cargill Teaching Farm of Oil Palm at Jonggol, from March 2013-March 2014. This study consisted of two separate experiments namely (1) Optimizing Nitrogen and (2) Optimizing Phosphorus. Both experiments used randomized block design with one factor and three replications. The treatments were five rates of nitrogen or phosphorus (0, 135, 270, 405, 540 g N per plant; 0, 135, 270, 405, 540 g P2O5 per plant). The results showed that nitrogen fertilizer rates increased height linearly at 10 month after treatment (MAT) and quadratically at 12 MAT. Stem girth, frond production and leaf area of 9th frond increased quadratically with N rates (9, 10, 12 MAT). Nitrogen fertilizer quadratically increased leaf chlorophyll content (12 MAT), but did not significantly affected leaf-N content. Phosphorus fertilizer increased palm height linearly (9, 10 MAT) and quadratically (12 MAT). Phosphorus linearly increased stem girth (12 MAT) and quadratically (9, 10 MAT). Frond production was quadratically increased with phosphorus rates (9, 10, 12 MAT). Phosphorus linearly increased leaf area of 9th frond (9 MAT) and quadratically (12 MAT). The optimum rates of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers for one year old plant was 382 g N and 331 g P2O5 per plant, respectively. Keywords: inorganic, nutrient, optimum rates, single fertilizer

Abstract

ABSTRACTSago palm is a carbohydrate source which has the highest carbohydrate content compared to the other crops. It can produce about 200-400 kg per trunk of sago dry starch. More than 50% sago palm population in the world are grown in Indonesia and 90% sago palm in Indonesia is found in Papua. This research was aimed to characterize several sago palm accessions in South Sorong District, West Papua. There were 12 accessions observed, i.e. Fasai, Fasampe, Falia, Fanomik, Fasongka, Fafion, Fakattao, Fanke, Fablen, Failik, Fakreit and Fasinan. Among these accessions, there were many differences based on morphological characteristics such as shoots color, crown shape, trunk height, number of leaf, existence of spine, starch content, also pith and starch color. Fablen was the only non-spiny type. Most of sago accessions were high yielding accessions with the potential yield more than 200 kg per trunk of sago dry starch. Fanomik had the highest potential yield. Sago palm productivity in the natural forest of Saifi Subdistrict, South Sorong District, West Papua was estimated to reach approximately 34.59 ton ha-1 per year of sago dry starch.   Keywords: accessions, starch, yield, food

Abstract

The productivity of forage is strongly influenced by cutting height and interval of defoliation. Experiment was conducted at the Research Institute for Industrial Plants and Other Palm (BALITKA) Manado since June 2008 until April 2009. The objective of the experiment was to find out the effects of intensity and intervals of defoliation on dry weight production and the quality of nutrients. The experiment was arranged in factorial RCBD. The intensity of defoliation was based on cutting height, i.e. 5, 10, 15 cm, whereas the intervals of defoliation were 30, 45, 60 day and 456.54 Degree Days (DD). The data of dry weight production, leaf stem ratio, nutrient quality were collected. The results showed that there were significant effects of treatments on all parameters. Productivity of B. humidicolai terms of high dry weight yield, high leaf stem ratio and crude protein, low crude fiber and acid detergent fiber (ADF) content were found in the interaction of intensity 10 cm with the interval of defoliation among the vegetative development stage of 30 and 45 days, as well as the interval of defoliation based on heat unit accumulation of 456.54 DD. The research implies that a cutting height at 10 cm and interval of defoliation as mentioned above is ideal for B. humidicola. Utilization of growing degree days (GDD) to determine the appropriate time for defoliation is considerable under this experiment. Keywords: B. humidicola, defoliation, forage, nutrient, productivity

Abstract

Commelina diffusa Burm.

Abstract

Collateral is an asset or property provided by the borrower to the lender in order to obtain the loan facility. Collateral is one of the most important things in lending because of its role as the second way out when the default of event occurs in a loan. Therefore, a division and special work procedures are needed to asses the feasibility of an object to be used as collateral. This review was conducted to find out the characteristics of assessable assets that can be financed and used as a collateral by PT. Pasar Dana Pinjaman, as well as to identify the collateral appraisal procedures by internal appraisal, and obstacles faced during the collateral appraisal process. The result of this review show that assets that can be used as collateral are non-movable tangible assets with marketable value, no over-financing, and free from disputes (can be legally bound). Considering the capacity of internal appraisal, collateral that can be appraised by the internal appraisal are those that meets the following criteria, which is total exposure below IDR 10 billion, located within a maximum radius of 30 km from the operational office, classified as a simple property, and there are no negative lists around them. Based on the results of the review of the collateral appraisal procedure by internal appraisal at PT. Pasar Dana Pinjaman, it can be conclude that the internal appraisal division has a systematic procedure in place which is include in the internal appraisal SOP and is in compliance with the standards set by MAPPI, from order acceptance to assessment report. Obstacles faced by the internal appraisal division during the appraisal process are the difficulties of finding comparable data, hard-to-reach Person In Charge, and indications of fraud during appraisal process.
