Abstract

The acetone gas sensor is one type of sensor being researched for its application because it detects the presence of diabetes in sufferers. Gas sensors with high sensitivity and low operating temperature have been extensively investigated for this purpose, and this research is focused on the same purpose. Synthetization and characterization of LaFeO3 with co-doping Gd2O3 and CoO thick film ceramics for acetone gas sensor was conducted. LaFeO3 was made using the co-precipitation method with 2.5% CoO for each and 0%, 2.5%, and 5% Gd2O3 variation to the LaFeO3. The LaFeO3 thick film was prepared using the screen-printing technique and calcined at 800°C for two hours. The analysis of crystal structure characterization using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) resulted in LaFeO3 with co-doping Gd2O3 and CoO thick film ceramics having the same cubic crystal phase with smaller lattice parameters and crystallite sizes after doping were added. The results of morphology structure characterization using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) showed the grain size of the LaFeO3 with co-doping 2.5% CoO and 0%, 2.5%, and 5% Gd2O3 samples to support the analysis of electric property characterization later on. The electric property characterization showed that LaFeO3 with various Gd2O3 concentrations, as part of co-doping with 2.5% CoO, resulted in higher sensitivity compared to the lacking of Gd2O3 one. In order, the maximum sensitivity values of each Gd2O3 concentration are 2.74, 3.06, and 8.76 when exposed to 270 ppm acetone gas at 310°C. Gd2O3, as part of co-doping in LaFeO3 with CoO 2.5%, has successfully increased the sensitivity to the gas sensor yet still can not meet the expectation towards the operating temperature, which is still high compared to other references.

Abstract

Misconceptions in physics education continue to pose significant challenges to meaningful learning among college students. This study aims to analyze the types, causes, and remediation strategies of physics misconceptions at the tertiary level through a systematic literature review. A total of 50 peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2023 were selected from the Scopus database using bibliometric analysis tools, including Harzing's Publish or Perish and VosViewer. The review reveals five main types of student misconceptions: prejudice-based, non-scientific theories, conceptual misconceptions, vernacular misunderstandings, and factual errors. The most common causes include students' prior knowledge and ineffective instructional methods. The four-tier diagnostic test is found to be the most frequently used and effective tool in identifying misconceptions. Remediation strategies include conceptual change texts, simulation-based experiments, e-learning, and collaborative learning models. The study concludes that understanding and addressing misconceptions require both accurate diagnostic tools and innovative teaching strategies. This review contributes to physics education research by providing a comprehensive overview of misconception diagnostics and remediation approaches over the past five years.

Abstract

This article maps research trends, key contributors, and thematic structures of the 4Cs—communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity—within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), while synthesizing experimental efforts to enhance these skills. It addresses a documented gap by combining bibliometric performance analysis and science mapping (RQ1–RQ6) with a systematic review of intervention studies (RQ7). A total of 3,246 documents were obtained, of which 1,655 documents were analyzed bibliometrically, and 32 documents were analyzed through a systematic literature review after screening and applying inclusion/exclusion criteria. The 4Cs–TVET research shows a continuous surge with “communication skills” as the driving theme and creativity relatively unexplored, indicating a thematic focus that still leans toward social competencies. In general, 4Cs–TVET research involves many researchers from various institutions and countries, showing that this research has become a global focus. However, the findings indicate that participation is concentrated in developed and middle-income countries, whereas least developed countries (LDCs) remain underrepresented in this research area. Experimental efforts to improve the 4Cs are spread across five approaches (technology/online, collaborative-interprofessional, gamification, project-based/active learning, simulation), but 56.25% target only one skill—collaboration being the most dominant—and only 6.25% integrate all 4Cs, indicating the need for more holistic intervention design.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theoretical framework of Computational Thinking (CT) integration in quantum physics education, specifically to improve concept understanding, critical thinking dispositions & abilities, and creative problem-solving skills of prospective physics teachers. CT is viewed as a systematic cognitive approach capable of bridging the gap in students' understanding of abstract and mathematical concepts in quantum physics. This study employs a qualitative method using systematic literature review and conceptual analysis of theories, models, and relevant previous research findings, both in the field of physics education and science education in general. The results of the study indicate that CT principles have the potential to improve the quality of students' thinking processes in understanding and solving quantum physics problems logically, reflectively, and creatively. The theoretical framework developed offers the integration of CT into learning design through a problem-based approach and multiple representations, both unplugged and computer-assisted. The conclusion of this study is that CT is not only relevant but also strategic as a foundation for the development of innovative pedagogy in modern physics education. The implications of this study open opportunities for curriculum designers, lecturers, and researchers to adopt and develop CT-based learning strategies in complex courses such as quantum physics, as well as encourage further empirical research to test the effectiveness of the proposed model.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic Religious Education in shaping the Digital-Religious Character of Vocational High School students in Bandung amidst digital disruption and ethical degradation. Employing a comparative multi-site case study qualitative approach, this research compares two PAI implementation models: the Formal-Regulatory model at SMK Negeri 12 and the Internalization-Transcendental model at SMK Swasta Angkasa. The Formal-Regulatory model, based on government regulations and emphasizing sanctions, tends to produce temporary KDR and compliance-based adherence. Student compliance with digital communication, interaction, and content ethics is vulnerable to not being sustainable outside the school environment. Conversely, the Internalization-Transcendental model, which leverages cultural autonomy and instills the value of muraqabah (awareness of divine omnipresence) as its foundation, proves more effective in fostering intrinsic and sustainable KDR. The awareness of muraqabah strengthens students' Akidah dimension, forms Digital Self-Regulation, and integrates digital ethics as part of worship, manifested in Digital Sobriety and Tabayyun rooted in faith. This study affirms that muraqabah is a critical transversal variable determining the quality of KDR internalization. Theoretically, this study enriches the discourse on PAI, digital ethics, and transcendental character education, particularly highlighting muraqabah as a spiritual foundation for Self-Control. Practically, these findings provide contextual references for the development of value-based and spiritually grounded digital literacy strategies relevant for VHS students.

Abstract

The main issue raised in this study is the tendency of students to rely on memorizing physics formulas without understanding the relationships between quantities and their dimensions. This study aims to explore the use of the dimensional analysis approach as a tool for understanding and deriving the relationships between physical quantities in various types of motion, including oscillatory motion, free fall motion, and parabolic motion. Exploratory and conceptual analysis methods were used in this study with a descriptive approach. In addition, an attitude scale instrument was used to measure students’ perceptions, which has been shown to be valid (0.80–0.92) and reliable (α = 0.89). The results show that the equations obtained through dimensional analysis are consistent with theoretical equations. This confirms that the approach is capable of correctly identifying the form of physical relationships, although it cannot yet determine the numerical constants precisely. In addition, student responses show a positive attitude towards the dimensional analysis approach, which is considered a new, useful, and efficient way of solving physics problems. However, students also recognized the limitations of this method in producing exact solutions due to the existence of arbitrary constants. These findings indicate that dimensional analysis is a scientifically robust and pedagogically valuable approach that can strengthen conceptual understanding. Thus, the application of the dimensional analysis approach in physics learning can help students find solutions logically and systematically.
