Abstract

This study was conducted in the intertidal zone in the waters of Bagan Siapi-api Rokan Hilir Regency in May-June 2018. This study aims to examine morphometrics and growth patterns in blood clams (Anadara granosa) in Bagan Siapi-api waters. A total of 100 samples (23.89-50.52 mm shell length and 3.85-18.16 grams total weight) were analyzed. From the results of observations it was found that the number of male and female ribs was 8-20, and there were 3 differences in morphometric characteristics between male and female, namely male blood clams longer than females, while female blood shells were wider and thicker than males. Furthermore, the growth pattern of A. granosa was negative allometric, with male b values 1.46 and females 0.74.

Abstract

Sail River is a sub-watershed of the Siak River in Pekanbaru City with various community domestic activities that cause the waters to be polluted by waste. One of the organisms that is tolerant of poor water quality is microalgae. The aims of this research to determine the potential microalgae in the Sail River. This research was conducted in September-December 2021 using a survey method. There were 4 sampling areas and in each sampling area there were 3 sampling points. Sampling were taken once/week for 3 weeks. Water quality parameters observed were temperature, transparency, pH, DO, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. The microalgae found were then isolated and culture in the laboratory, cultured in water media with Walne fertilizer added and their growth was observed. The results of this study shown that the microalgae found consisted of 2 classes, namely: Chlorophyceae (16 species) and Cyanophyceae (5 species). The isolated microalgae were: Chlorella vulgaris, Coelastrum microporum, Scenedesmus quadricauda, Pediastrum biradiatum and Merismopedia punctata. Microalgae isolates reached peak growth on the 7th to the 8th day. Meanwhile, the harvested biomass ranged from 0,05 g/L to 0,3 g/L. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that these five types of microalgae isolates are potential to be utilized.

Abstract

Microalgae live in almost all types of waters, including in groundwater. The diversity, fertility, and development of microalgae species in ponds are strongly influenced by the conditions and fertility of the waters. This study aims to determine the types of microalgae found in the Pekanbaru City Pond Waters. This research was conducted in Aquatic Biology Laboratory Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Riau University by survey method. Sampling locations consist of 4 stations and 3 sampling points. The results showed that there were 13 species of microalgae found in ponds in Pekanbaru City, namely: Scenedesmus quadricauda, Pediastrum duplex mey, Tetrastrum heteracarthum, Spirulina platensis, Microcystis aeruginosa, Chlorella vulgaris, Scenedesmus dimurphus, Pediastrum duplex var, Closeterium parvulum, Coelastrum microforum, Scenedesmus acuminatus, Pediastrum biradiatum and Scenedesmus obligus. Based on laboratory culture results, the highest abundances of microalgae were Scenedesmus quadricauda, Spirulina plantensis and Chlorella vulgaris.

Abstract

Identification, isolation, and analysis of the biochemical content contained in microalgae. This research was conducted from June to September 2022. The survey method was used, and the data obtained were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. Primary data collection was carried out by observing in the field and analyzing in the laboratory, while secondary data was obtained from books, journals, and the internet. The identification results of microalgae from the waters of the Koto Panjang hydropower reservoir found as many as 30 species consisting of 3 classes. The type of microalgae that has the two highest abundances is the type of Chlorococcum sp. and Nitzschia sp. From the results of the microalgae isolation culture from the Koto Panjanhg Hydropower Reservoir in the Laboratory period, harvesting was carried out in the peak phase, namely for Chlorococcum sp. on day 9 (with a dry weight of 0.57 g) and Nitzschia sp. on the 8th day (with a dry weight of 0.42 g). While the proximate content of the microalgae type Chlorococcum sp. namely: carbohydrates 6.75%; protein 10.7742%; fat 19.75%; meanwhile, the proximate content of Nitzschia sp. namely: carbohydrates 10.8%; protein 10.7742%; fat 0.25%. Then the phytochemical content obtained was alkaloid (only found in Chlorococcum sp. Furthermore, saponins, steroids, glycosides, and flavonoids were found in the two microalgae isolates, while the triterpenoid content was not found in the two microalgae isolates.
