Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students' mathematical communication skills in terms of gender differences in class VII-1 of SMP Negeri 1 Dawarblandong. This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year at SMP Negeri 1 Dawarblandong. The subjects in this study were class VII-1 students, as many as 32 students consisting of 26 female students and 6 male students. The data in this study were obtained from tests. The test results are used to determine the mathematical communication skills of male and female students in writing. The results of the research showed that mathematical communication skills of male students are included in the poor category with an average value of 29.17 with poor category and female studentss are included in the fairly good category with an average value of by 43.51.Keywords: mathematical communication ability, junior high school students, gender.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1665-1672

Abstract

Mathematical communication is a fundamental ability that students must have in order to support the learning of mathematics education in the 21st century. The level of creativity, critical reasoning skills, as well as student independence by applying a learning framework that supports the development of students' mathematical communication skills is appropriate is PISA (Program for International Students Assessment). The purpose of this study is to describe students' mathematical communication skills based on Uncertainty and Data content and focuses on three students of class VIII - A UPT SMPN 4 Lamongan as research subjects. The research data was obtained through the results of daily tests used to categorize the three student subjects. Then the analysis carried out in the results of mathematical communication ability tests and interviews, using indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely, 1) Connecting items, pictures or original charts to mathematical thinking; 2) Describe thinking ideas, situations and mathematical relationships in written and oral ways; 3) Use the concept of terms, symbols, and structure-based mathematical notation to convey ideas; also 4) Make conclusions in writing and orally. The research findings show that there are variations in students' mathematical communication abilities, namely with low mathematical communication only fulfilling the second indicator. Students with moderate mathematical communication fulfill the first, second and third indicators. Students with high mathematical communication fulfill all indicators.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an important ability for students, this ability is still considered low. The PBL (Problem Based Learning) model is an alternative learning model that can improve students' mathematical abilities. The aim of this research is to find out how students' mathematical literacy abilities are both before and after using the problem-based learning model. They also want to know how students interact with the problem-based learning process. The method in this research is a quasi-experimental method with the design used being a pretest and posttest non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were class X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Dukun for the 2023/2024 academic year. The research instruments used were questions describing tests of mathematical literacy skills and questionnaires on student responses to the learning being implemented. The data analysis technique uses quantitative data analysis. The research results show that from the t test results above the sig value (2 tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05 because the significant value is 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that students' mathematical abilities can be improved by implementing problem-based learning.

Abstract

This study used descriptive research with a qualitative research approach. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 29 Gresik. The subjects in this study are class VII A, research subjects are selected based on the criteria that have been set in the results of the critical thinking ability test in solving problem-based tasks 1. From each criterion, 2 students (1 female student and 1 male student) were selected who got the highest score. Based on the results of the mathematical critical thinking ability test, 2 students were selected as research subjects for the next interview process. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that in the subject of gender differences, each subject, both male and female gender, has their own advantages and disadvantages in solving existing problems, not significantly showing that there are differences in critical thinking skills between male and female subjects, this can be seen from the results of the PBT II test and interviews where the high categories of LK and Pr subjects are equally able to answer each questions related to indicators and also seen from the score results obtained that LK and Pr subjects on each indicator have the same number of high scores, namely on indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation and inference.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning on mathematical literacy ability. This research is a quantitative survey method with path analysis technique. The population in this research was about 574 students and the sample used was 236 students in grade VIII at the State Junior High School in Kebomas District. The research instruments used were emotional intelligence questionnaire, self-regulated learning questionnaire, and mathematical literacy test. The data analysis method used for this research is path analysis using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) with a significance level of about 5% using the AMOS 26 application. The results revealed that (1) there is a significant positive influence between emotional intelligence on mathematical literacy ability, (2) there is a significant positive influence between self-regulated learning on mathematical literacy ability, (3) there is a significant positive influence between emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning. The results of this research contribute to the development of the science of learning psychology towards 21st century skills.

Abstract

Mathematics education and teaching should not only include routine tasks; but tasks that need practice and memorization are mathematically more prosperous and more difficult because they promote problem-solving, investigation, and the discovery of the actual value of mathematical assertions. Therefore, the teacher must be able to select, create, and modify assignments under the established goals. This study attempts to examine opportunities and challenges that teachers encounter while adopting problem-based tasks. The subjects involved in this study were three secondary school mathematics teachers that are acceptable, in East Java, Indonesia. The teachers involved have more than five years of teaching experience and have good academic qualifications. The data collection consisted of observing three classes of secondary school during the implementation of a problem-based task related to the topic of rectangles and algebra. The study begins with the introduction and giving of several examples of problem-based tasks in secondary school mathematics designed to foster advanced learners' critical thinking and creativity. The findings show that teachers gain new knowledge about problem-based assignments and pedagogical insights on how they explain them to students. The results also provide an overview of the challenges for teachers to design and implement problem-based tasks.

Abstract

Sinogo farmers, starting in November 2022 have cultivated Vanilla plants (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) in a greenhouse using planting medium in the form of mixture of soil, manure and cocofiber in a ratio of 1 : 1 : 1. The use of cocofiber causes the planting medium to dry out quickly. In 2023, Sinogo farmers had problem of limited water for watering because the water used comes from springs, which are very small during the dry season. The aim of the community service activity was to provide information about water-saving drip irrigation technology and to apply drip irrigation techniques to vanilla cultivation in greenhouses. Community service begins with survey activities to determine regional conditions and the level of farmers' understanding of drip irrigation technology. The next stage was education and practice of drip irrigation technology. Evaluation monitoring was carried out to determine the results of drip irrigation practices. The survey results showed that 87% of farmer group members did not know about drip irrigation techniques and they were very interested in implementing this technology. As many as 100% of respondents expressed interest in implementing drip irrigation technology on vanilla plants. After providing service to the Sinogo farmer community, they understood the drip irrigation technique, which was a water-saving irrigation technique. The results of the community service implementation showed that drip irrigation was running but was still limited because little water was stored due to low rainfall until December 2023. The conclusion was that most members of farmer community did not understand drip irrigation techniques. The success of drip irrigation techniques was influenced by the availability of water sources.

Abstract

Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan masih rendahnya produktivitas jagung dalam negeri adalah pengaplikasian dosis pupuk yang kurang tepat oleh petani. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat daun, pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung hibrida pada berbagai dosis pupuk N, yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari 2023 sampai Mei 2023 di lahan KP-2 INSTIPER Yogyakarta, Desa Sempu, Wedomartani, Kec. Ngemplak, Kab. Sleman, Yogyakarta. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode percobaan faktor tunggal yang disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dosis pupuk urea sebagai berikut: N1 = 100 kg /ha, N2 = 200 kg/ha, dan N3 = 300 kg/ha. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari 3 ulangan, dan setiap ulangan terdiri dari 3 tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk urea dengan dosis 200 kg/ha mampu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, panjang daun, lebar daun, luas daun, jumlah daun, kadar klorofil, panjang tongkol, diameter tongkol, berat tongkol dengan klobot, berat tongkol tanpa klobot, berat kering biji per tongkol dan berat kering per 100 biji. Hasil analisis korelasi parameter jumlah daun berkorelasi positif dengan luas daun (r = 0,96648), parameter kadar klorofil berkorelasi positif dengan jumlah daun (r = 0,89605) dan luas daun (r = 0,97999), parameter jumlah daun, luas daun dan kadar klorofil berkorelasi positif dengan berat kering biji per tongkol (r = 0,71950, 0,87369 dan 0,95303), parameter panjang tongkol berkorelasi positif dengan diameter tongkol (r = 0,94842) dan berat kering biji per tongkol (r = 0,99317).Kata Kunci : Pupuk N, Jagung Hibrida, Sifat Daun.

Abstract

Jagung (Zea mays L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas pangan utama di Indonesia, terutama di beberapa wilayah dijadikan sebagai pangan pokok. Jagung tidak hanya menjadi sumber karbohidrat, tetapi kaya akan komponen pangan seperti serat, asam lemak esensial, isoflavon, mineral, dan antosianin. Cekaman genangan air, terutama pada musim hujan, dapat menghambat pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung, yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan serta menurunkan produktivitasnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah percobaan lapangan dengan rancangan faktor tunggal, disusun dalam rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), serta melibatkan dua jenis perlakuan cekaman genangan air, yaitu pemberian penyiraman hingga kapasitas lapang (G1) dan pemberian genangan air selama 15 hari berjarak 5 cm dari permukaan tanah (G2). Setiap perlakuan memiliki 3 ulangan, di mana setiap ulangan terdiri dari 3 tanaman, sehingga secara keseluruhan terdapat 18 percobaan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa cekaman genangan air berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap perkembangan dan produktivitas jagung. Genangan yang berlangsung selama 15 hari menyebabkan penurunan pada Ketinggian tanaman, ketebalan batang, dimensi daun, serta kapasitas volume akar, serta bobot akar dalam kondisi basah dan kering. Sementara itu, tanaman jagung yang tidak tergenang menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik di semua parameter yang diamati. Genangan air yang berkepanjangan perlu dihindari karena mampu menghambat proses fotosintesis dan respirasi, terutama pada fase awal pertumbuhan. Kondisi lahan dengan aerasi yang baik diperlukan untuk mendukung pertumbuhan optimal dan meningkatkan hasil tanaman jagung.
