Abstract

Background: Perubahan iklim saat ini menjadi salah satu isu global paling serius yang berdampak pada lingkungan, sosial, dan ekonomi. Pembelajaran berbasis proyek STEM telah menjadi pendekatan efektif dalam pendidikan yang mengintegrasikan pemecahan masalah dunia nyata yang kompleks, termasuk perubahan iklim. Selain itu, teknologi augmented reality semakin banyak diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran STEM untuk meningkatkan pengalaman belajar yang lebih imersif dan interaktif. Namun, hasil observasi dan penyebaran angket menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar guru IPA di Deli Serdang belum memiliki pengalaman dalam menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis proyek STEM, serta masih minim dalam pemanfaatan teknologi seperti augmented reality sebagai media pembelajaran. Kegiatan pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan proyek pembelajaran perubahan iklim berbasis STEM yang diintegrasikan dengan media augmented reality. Metode: Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif. Adapun metode yang dilaksanakan dalam kegiatan ini dilakukan beberapa tahap, antara lain: tahapan persiapan, pelaksanan kegiatan (pemberian materi dan pelatihan), dan evaluasi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan oleh tim dosen dan mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Medan dan diikuti oleh 18 guru anggota Komunitas Belajar IPA Deli Serdang dan dilaksanakan pada 10 Mei 2025 di SMP Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan. Hasil: Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep perubahan iklim, pendekatan STEM, serta kemampuan menggunakan dan mengembangkan media augmented reality dengan aplikasi Assemblr Edu. Kesimpulan: Pelatihan ini berhasil membekali guru dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang relevan untuk mendesain pembelajaran inovatif yang mendukung pendidikan lingkungan dan penguatan literasi digital di sekolah.

Abstract

The urgency of this study arises from the need to understand how dolphins navigate long-distance migrations in marine environments where visual and acoustic cues are limited. The main problem addressed is the limited integration of scientific evidence on magnetoreception and the extent to which human-generated electromagnetic activities disrupt geomagnetic navigation. This study aims to synthesize recent findings on how dolphins detect and use the Earth’s magnetic field as a natural orientation system and to identify factors that threaten its stability. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using PRISMA guidelines was employed to ensure a structured process of identifying, screening, and synthesizing relevant peer-reviewed publications from 2014 to 2025. Five studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed thematically. The results show that magnetite-based receptors in the dolphin nervous system allow detection of geomagnetic variations and support the formation of internal spatial maps. Magnetoreception is strengthened through its integration with echolocation and passive electroreception, forming a multisensory navigation system. The findings also indicate that artificial electromagnetic sources, such as submarine cables and sonar, can interfere with geomagnetic cues and reduce navigational accuracy. These results provide implications for conservation and biomimetic technology development.

Abstract

This study aims to measure and describe the level of epistemic knowledge of junior high school students in Medan City on the subject of energy crisis. The research approach uses a descriptive quantitative method with a sample of 92 ninth-grade students selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a 15-item essay test that had been validated and proven reliable. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics through the calculation of average scores, frequency distribution, and the percentage of achievement for each epistemic aspect. The results showed that the students' level of epistemic knowledge was in the moderate category with an average of 58%, indicating that their understanding of how science works, especially on the issue of energy crisis, was not yet optimally developed. These findings emphasize the need for a learning model that places greater emphasis on evidence-based argumentation, the use of scientific models, and the exploration of the nature of science. Further research is recommended to integrate inquiry-based learning designs to test the effectiveness of interventions in improving students' epistemic knowledge.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the integration of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) with Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) in science education, focusing on mapping empirical findings, implementation patterns, and research gaps that have not been widely studied. This study aims to identify the learning outcome variables measured, describe the characteristics of PjBL–SSI implementation, and reveal the main challenges and limitations of previous studies. Using PRISMA guidelines, 6 peer-reviewed journal articles (n = 6) published between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed. These articles covered various educational levels, from elementary school to higher education, with diverse research designs. The results of the study show that the integration of PjBL with SSI consistently has a positive impact on students' critical thinking, problem-solving, science literacy, digital literacy, and ethical awareness, especially through involvement in real-issue-based projects that require multidimensional analysis and value-based decision-making. However, this study also identified a number of key challenges, namely the limited readiness of teachers in designing SSI-based projects, the lack of standardized learning resources and assessment tools, and the dominance of research focus on the cognitive domain. Another important finding shows that the affective, social, and reflective aspects of students have received relatively little attention in previous studies, thus opening up opportunities for further research. Overall, this review provides a conceptual contribution by presenting a structured synthesis of the characteristics, impacts, and challenges of PjBL–SSI integration, as well as a practical contribution as a reference for educators and curriculum developers in designing contextual, relevant, and socially responsible science learning.

Abstract

Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) is a form of Community-Based Health Effort (UKBM) that plays a vital role in improving the health of children and mothers. In Neighborhood VI Pajak Rambai, Posyandu functions as a center for monitoring toddlers' growth and development, providing immunizations, nutrition counseling, and supplementary feeding (PMT). This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods including direct observation, semi-structured interviews with cadres and parents of toddlers, as well as documentation of attendance records and child growth charts. Data analysis was conducted thematically and descriptively, with triangulation to ensure the validity and reliability of the results. The findings indicate that Posyandu regularly provides weighing and height measurement services, immunizations, nutrition counseling, PMT, and education on healthy parenting and child hygiene to parents. Active parental participation is a key factor supporting the success of the program. Routine monitoring shows significant improvements in toddlers' weight and height over time. Additionally, Posyandu serves as a health information center that increases parental awareness of maintaining family health. Overall, Posyandu in Neighborhood VI Pajak Rambai has a strategic role in supporting the healthy growth and development of toddlers through integrated health services and community education.

Abstract

The limitations of science assessment instruments that are able to measure critical thinking skills comprehensively, particularly in integrating cognitive dimensions and operational indicators into one complete construct, is still a problem in learning evaluation practices. This study aimed to develop a critical thinking test instrument based on the synthesis of the Watson–Glaser and Ennis frameworks in the context of science education. The research employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The instrument was developed by synthesizing Watson–Glaser critical thinking components and Ennis’ operational indicators, which were then translated into multiple-choice reasoning-based items on wave and optics topics. Expert validation was conducted to evaluate content, construct, and language aspects. The instrument was tested on 38 undergraduate students of science education in Universitas Negeri Medan. The results indicated that the instrument was valid based on expert judgment and demonstrated adequate construct validity. Reliability analysis using Cronbach’s Alpha yielded a coefficient of 0.876, indicating high internal consistency. These findings suggest that the developed instrument reliably measures critical thinking skills in accordance with the synthesized Watson–Glaser and Ennis framework. The instrument can serve as an alternative assessment tool for science learning that emphasizes critical reasoning.

Abstract

The low level of Indonesian students’ scientific literacy, which remains below the international benchmark, represents a critical challenge in contemporary science education. This study aims to systematically examine the trends and effectiveness of integrating Problem Based Learning (PBL) with Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) in enhancing students’ scientific literacy. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach guided by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework. Relevant articles were retrieved from the ScienceDirect and Google Scholar databases within the publication period of 2018–2026. The selection process, comprising identification, screening, and eligibility stages, resulted in a final corpus of 12 articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria.The findings indicate a substantial increase in scholarly publications during the 2024–2025 period, reflecting a growing academic interest in contextual and inquiry-based learning approaches. Furthermore, the analysis reveals strong conceptual linkages between scientific literacy, socio-scientific issues, and emerging educational trends such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). The synthesis of the selected studies demonstrates that the integration of PBL and SSI consistently contributes to moderate to high improvements in students’ scientific literacy. In addition, this instructional approach fosters higher-order thinking skills, particularly in argumentation and problem-solving, by engaging students with authentic, real-world issues.Overall, the integration of PBL and SSI provides a promising pedagogical framework for advancing scientific literacy and preparing students to address complex socio-scientific challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam mendukung penerapan Problem-Based Learning (PBL) pada pembelajaran IPA melalui pendekatan Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data dikumpulkan dari 25 artikel ilmiah yang dipublikasikan pada rentang tahun 2021–2026 dan dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis isi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa AI berperan signifikan dalam mendukung setiap tahapan PBL, mulai dari identifikasi masalah hingga evaluasi solusi melalui penyediaan sumber belajar yang adaptif dan umpan balik secara real-time. Integrasi AI dan PBL terbukti mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, keterampilan berpikir kritis, literasi sains, hasil belajar, motivasi, serta kemandirian belajar peserta didik. Namun, implementasi AI masih menghadapi kendala seperti keterbatasan infrastruktur, kesiapan guru, serta rendahnya pengembangan aspek kolaborasi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan AI secara optimal dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Fenomena perubahan iklim global menuntut penguatan Climate Change Education (CCE) pada jenjang Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) sebagai upaya membangun literasi iklim dan kapasitas adaptif generasi muda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis hasil-hasil penelitian terkait implementasi pendidikan perubahan iklim di SMP melalui metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Artikel diperoleh dari Google Scholar dengan bantuan Publish or Perish dan dibatasi pada publikasi tahun 2022–2026. Berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi yang telah ditetapkan, diperoleh 25 artikel yang layak dianalisis. Hasil kajian menghasilkan tiga klasifikasi temuan utama: (1) profil dan tantangan implementasi CCE di Indonesia, (2) efektivitas model pembelajaran aktif dalam meningkatkan literasi iklim, dan (3) potensi asesmen digital sebagai instrumen evaluasi berbasis gamifikasi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa implementasi CCE masih menghadapi berbagai kendala, antara lain penyajian materi yang superfisial dalam buku teks, dominasi pendekatan pembelajaran teoretis, keterbatasan fasilitas, serta belum optimalnya integrasi teknologi digital dalam asesmen. Berbagai penelitian telah mengkaji model seperti Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), Guided Inquiry, integrasi STEM, serta penggunaan platform digital seperti Edmodo dan Quizizz secara terpisah, tanpa mengintegrasikan ketiga elemen tersebut dalam satu kerangka pembelajaran yang utuh. Berdasarkan sintesis kesenjangan penelitian, studi ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan kerangka instruksional yang mengintegrasikan Guided Inquiry terstruktur, pendekatan STEM, serta asesmen digital berbasis gamifikasi.

Abstract

Model pembelajaran Project-Based Learning berbasis Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (PjBL-STEM) menjadi fokus utama dalam pendidikan IPA modern karena mampu mengintegrasikan konsep multidisiplin melalui penyelesaian masalah nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tren PjBL-STEM dalam pembelajaran IPA melalui Systematic Literature Review (SLR) terhadap 25 artikel periode 2021–2026. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa PjBL-STEM efektif meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif, namun masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam dokumentasi eksplisit Engineering Design Process (EDP) serta penggunaan asesmen yang didominasi tes kognitif tertulis. Penelitian ini juga menemukan tren baru berupa integrasi teknologi imersif seperti Augmented Reality (AR) dan laboratorium virtual (Algodoo/Javalab) untuk memperkuat tahap perancangan teknis. Selain itu, terdapat kebutuhan pengembangan pembelajaran berbasis konteks lokal (Ethno-STEM) dan Digital Scaffolding guna mendukung keterampilan proses sains siswa. Pemetaan tren ini diharapkan mendorong penelitian selanjutnya agar lebih fokus pada strategi metakognitif dan asesmen autentik untuk mengoptimalkan hasil belajar psikomotorik dan afektif secara menyeluruh.
